We recently returned (reluctantly) from an eleven-night stay at the fabulous Villa Olivade. We fully experienced perfection in every way, I’ve immediately booked to return later this summer, that rather sums up the quality of our experience there, (it is understandably very popular, so book early to avoid disappointment).
The villa is beautifully appointed with three levels of outdoor space facing south & west; therefore it benefits from full day sun (but with shady options should you prefer). Uninterrupted views from the Domaine’s unique elevated position reach all the way to Antibes and the mountains to the west. We did walk around to get a feel of the other villas we had seen available for rent on the Domaine, amazing views from all aspects, but none compared to the views from Villa Olivade, it truly is one of a kind, the brightness, the airy, open, refreshing feel in spite of the heat is wonderful.
The villa has everything you could possibly need. The rooms are bright & spacious, a beautifully appointed bathroom, plus an additional WC off the bedroom space. The kitchen is large, thoroughly equipped with new appliances; the extensive large work surfaces were super for food preparation (even by two people). The addition of a second larger fridge/freezer in a secure store on the terrace was totally appreciated (it minimalized the need for multiple supermarket trips). The store also houses an excellent bike for your use and secure storage for your own bike should you wish to bring one (speak to David about that!).
David & Sally-Anne are fabulous hosts, utterly helpful and informative, always available and quick to respond. They provide a comprehensive information pack before you arrive. David & Sally-Anne have lived in France for many years, you have the privilege of their experience, they truly are a source of all knowledge over there.
We chose not to hire a car, as we wanted to stay local to the area on this trip. We met with Lionel (David’s taxi recommendation); he was lovely, charming & punctual. For long or very short trips we would strongly suggest using Uber, very efficient, smart cars with good availability. Economic to use, Nice airport to the villa 28e, St Paul to the villa 6e.
There are many excellent restaurants in the area (do your research before you arrive as the most popular require advance booking). Our favourites were (as in the past), La Colombe d’Or (we book three months in advance), Le Tilleul, Alain Lorca.
