Fabulous staff, so helpful accommodating and friendly. Beautiful location with such a wonderful focus on conservation. The Pilotes Overwater bungalows are an absolute highlight, comfortable, spacious and with gorgeous views. An true highlight to be watching the turtles and snorkelling with them right off the deck.
Rooms were excellent and rather spacious. Air conditioning worked well and the island facilities were great.
The water does look as pristine as the pictures and with a snorkel and some flippers you'll get a close up with some turtles and maybe even a sea snake.
Food was decent pretty good selection nothing to complain about here.
Beautiful setting with the overwater bungalows and blue coral reef around the island. Very convenient boat transfer many times a day. Real paradise for people looking for snorkeling and relaxing in water. Important to notice is that outside id the buffet very limited options fo dinner/lunch and a small language barrier for English speakers but we will come back 1000%

The island was really nice. The hotel was nice enough.
Property is in an amazing position off the coast from Noumea. Environment is ideal.
Food at the resort is what lets the stay down - it is quite expensive and would benefit from a refresh
Great spot to stay, the rooms and the island is incredible. Wildlife was everywhere, heaps of birds, fish, turtles and sea snakes!
Very helpful staff, only downside was the food, a fairly standard buffet was pretty pricey and room service took a while.
A superb, peaceful stay only a short boat ride from downtown Nouméa, surrounded by stunning nature. We snorkelled from our bungalow directly into a group of over ten turtles grazing on sea grass and being cleaned by lagoon fish.
Breakfast was the best food option as this was a buffet with lots of choices & kept us full & happy for most of the day. Other food options were not good. Steak at the dinner option was tough even when cooked medium rare. The margarita pizza was simply awful & inedible. Burgers & chips from the cafe were very good. I had to constantly remind housekeeping to top up the in-room coffee & sweetener which was frustrating. The resort itself was lovely with amazing sea turtles everywhere so snorkelling is brilliant & it was great being able to walk from our balcony to the sea each day. The cook making eggs at the breakfast buffet was very grumpy & this was not very welcoming although she wasn't on station every morning which was a relief. Overall, we will be back because it has more positives but we will bring easy to prepare snacks & food from the mainland to avoid pricey & low quality/choices after breakfast.
Incredible stay! It was an absolute dream. I stayed two nights in the overwater bungalows and it was spacious, confortable and an amazing experience. I got to rent a snorkeling kit for free and go see the corrals, fish and sea turtles that were nearby. The staff was lovely and the environment felt safe. I only had the breakfast buffet as far as meals go but there was a lot of choices and everything I had was good, especially the fresh pastries. From the check in, the boat ride to the îlot, the stay and back, I am beyond happy with my stay.
We stayed in an overwater bungalow - wow what an experience! Beautiful accomodation that's nicely furnished and spacious. The water views and sunsets were stunning and the fact you could step into the water from your own balcony was something we cherished. The staff were lovely and friendly. My only critique is the lack of food options, it'd be great if you could order room service or a la carte rather than having to spend on an expensive buffet every night because it's the only option on the island. Everything else was fantastic.
This property was better than what we expected. We saw lots of turtles and tropical fish on our morning walk around the island. Staff were very friendly and a snorkling tour to near by island was the unforgettable experience for our family due to swimming restriction in Noumea Council. Also hiring canoe is the morning was amazing as we spotted lots of turtles. I highly recommend this hotel for families.

Not a quiet or relaxing property. During the day many people visit the island for day trips and tend to use the hotel ammenities. At night, when I stayed for one of the nights, there was a wedding. Which meant in the overwater bungalow that you could feel the music in your room. No sleep really. Also, the birds are winning in the dining area. The property's "solution" is to provide a microwave cover to protect your food/leftovers. This interrupts your general dining if you are not seated at the table - as birds will with certainty pick at your food.
We were blessed by great weather, but we wouldn't have minded just watching the world go by from our over water bungalow if we had to. Swimming with the turtles and fish is amazing, coral is average but if you've never seen much before then this is a great introduction. The island is busy on the weekends with day trippers so if you want a quiet stay then book for a weekday period. We made our own food for lunch and dinner to keep costs down but the breakfast buffet is fantastic and plentiful. Staff generally have good english and are very helpful as expected. We did hear a complaint from another visitor about the nesting birds being too loud for them at night, so if you do want a peaceful sleep then I'd recomend upgrading to the overwater bungalows. Overall it was an amazing stay and we were sad to leave!
We stayed 8 nights in an over water bungalow, I think you would be disappointed if you didn’t stay in an over water bungalow and stayed in one of the other rooms. The staff were really nice everywhere and spoke good English. Boat transfers were easy to navigate however it’s not very nice getting the smaller boat in the morning and at night, if we did our trip again, we would of spent a little less time here and had a few nights around lemon bay somewhere. Swimming was great, however not as nice as the beaches at isle of pines. Food was a little bit of a let down but the snack bar was great. Didn’t see any sharks and only saw one snake. Seagulls were annoying, ruined being able to eat outside, the pool bar also wasn’t open at all when we were there.
The room was lovely. Spacious and comfortable and I was lucky enough to get a garden cabin with a water view which was brilliant. Perhaps they could have taken a bit of space from the bedroom area to make the bathroom a bit less cramped. But the bed was comfortable and the rooms well appointed and very clean. In fact cleaning staff were the only ones who smiled and said hello.
The hotel generally wasn’t very welcoming. Even on arrival we were met with bored indifference instead of a welcome and for the most part that continued. The food offering was beyond disappointing. I’ve never paid so much for such sub par food in my life. Once you are on the island you are a captive market, choice is very limited (a very sad buffet) and a variety of fried foods from the bar. That’s it. Also no nightlife or even anything trying to create a convivial atmosphere. The main entertainment seemed to be watching the seagulls steal food.
Plenty of water sports on offer and I guess that’s the main attraction, although you can come across as a day tripper to access all of that and not have to endure meal times.
Our experience at the Doubletree Hilton over the water bungalows was incredible. We could not fault a thing, The resort itself was beyond anything we imagined, everything in the bungalow was in excellent condition, we stepped out from room to snorkel and saw the breathtaking reefs and corals and swam with the turtles. The staff were helpful and courteous, the open buffets in for breakfast and dinner were delicious, and the water activities were endless. We also had complementary boat rides to & from the Ilot Maitre resort to the main island all day long. If God wills, we'll be going back again, Can't recommend it enough!
au revoir :)
Fabulous spot with wide verity of wild life. Amazing snorkeling spot and bird watching. Food variety was a problem but you could hop on the ferry for free and drop down to the restaurant at Moselle Bay and have great food!
Stayed in the water bungalows . The aircon only worked in bedroom . Lounge area and bathroom were like a sauna very uncomfortable. For a Hilton resort very run down .
