Tuukkaq Apartments

Tuukkaq Apartments

8/10 Good
"The staff and apartments were outstanding. Especially Kristine stood out with her kindness and willingness to help. The only reason I rated the apartments as 4 and not 5 stars, is that they actually are shared which is not obvious from the booking website. Each unit seems to have 4 bedrooms (2 doubles and 2 singles), and you share the rest of the apartment with other guests. The indicator on the website was the "sleeps 8" comment, that I found surprising but did not investigate further. I was under the impression that I was renting a one-bedroom apartment with kitchen, bathroom and living area. Uur unit companions were equally surprised to see other residents, so it was not only us who missed that aspect. At 60+, I'm not exactly keen on sharing a bathroom with strangers. We were lucky and had great and respectful room mates, but I could easily see this as being a source of contention. So it's more like a very nice hostel than a rental apartment. Also, the manager walked into our unit twice with her key, without even knocking - unacceptable behavior."

Nuuk Hotel Apartments by HHE

10/10 Excellent
"If not aware, check in occurs at HHE. The apartments are a short 5ish minute walk away. The facilities are nice, including the rare gym amenities that include proper functioning equipment. If you stay at the apartments you do have access to the HHE facilities. Wi-Fi was fast and overall Nuuk is an easily walkable city with most things you need being with 5 minutes walking. The only "complaint" is that the blinds in the room could have been better. One was practically non existent and the other did not really block out much light. Depending on when you go, the sunset can set way past "bed time" so being able to have a dark room would be prime."

Kulukis Downtown Hostel

Kulukis Downtown Hostel

8/10 Good
"Pleasant enough and reasonably well located, with walking distance from Nuuk's center of activity as 5 to 15 minutes, Nuuk's historic old town as about 10 to 15 minutes, and the port at around 25 minutes walking. Rooms are small but have the essentials. The blackout shades during the summer midnight-sun months are only partially effective as they allow light in at the edges. The place is mostly quiet as long as the guests are courteous, as they usually are. Note that the place may not have hot water for showering during daytime hours after check-out time at 10 am and before check-in time at 4 pm. Note also for anyone with walking challenges that there is a bit of a short, steep rock incline and over a dozen stairs just to enter the place."
