Great beach house in one of the best locations on Oak Island. Short walking distance to the beach, many restaurants, grocery stores, gift shops, donut/ice cream shop, ABC store, intercostal waterway, nature park and picnic pavilion at ICW park. Plus, a dock 3 blocks away to launch kayaks and boat or do some fishing or boating. Also, in walking distance to kid's water park, mini golf and Middleton Park (which features live outdoor concerts, movie nights and festivals regularly throughout the summer), tennis and basketball courts and playground are all in walking distance as well. Walk or grab a golf cart to get around and enjoy all of what OKI has to offer.

Renovated 3 bedroom, 2 bath house sleeps 8. Large fully fenced in deck area with patio and grill. Deck extends to back where there is a backyard firepit area and enclosed outside shower. Enjoy smores at the firepit, a game of cornhole, dinner/ drinks or sun on the deck, watch movies on wifi TVs. The house has a queen in master, twins in second bedroom and double and twin in front bedroom, as well as queen sofa bed. Linens and bath towels provided at NO ADDITIONAL FEE. Well stocked kitchen, so cooking is a breeze and a large pantry for plenty of storage.

Head to the point to see where the ICW meets the sea and listen to pirate tales on summer nights. Stroll the beach to hopefully see a few turtle nests and some amazing sunsets. Southport is a 10 min drive and has a great downtown area with shops, antique mall, brewery, wine stop, waterfront parks and great waterfront restaurants. NC Aquarium is close (15 min ferry from Southport to Ft Fisher). Bald Head Island ferry can also be taken from Southport. The waterfront in historic downtown Wilmington is a 30 min drive, as well as USS North Carolina Battleship, which is open for tours.

Walk the beach at the Caswell end of the island and see our lighthouse, enjoy gulf on the island, plenty of watercraft rentals options (kayaks, paddle board, canoes, boats), water tours are available from several places in Southport. Throw your fishing line in the ICW or into Davis Canal. Also, 2 fishing piers. Great location for cycling as well.

Clean, Quiet, Awesome!

The house and neighborhood are beautiful. We came in the off season and it was a great getaway for a quiet beach weekend. Plenty of room for 4 adults and 2 teenagers.

Great trip to Oak Island!

This was our second time staying at this property and it was just as great this time around. The house is adorable, but we love the location. We really like that we are able to easily walk to the beach, grocery store Kai Joe's and out for ice cream.

Sisters Get-away Weekend

Perfect stay!

Just spent the weekend with a group of girlfriends, and the house was perfect! Everything was so clean, comfortable and tastefully decorated. We really appreciated all the amenities, including a bowl of yummy snacks. The outdoor deck area was super relaxing and we enjoyed one of our nights around the fire pit. Bernice was very responsive as a host and we would not hesitate to stay at this property again.

A great place to stay at Oak Island

I could not have asked for a better place to stay with my family. We were only there three days and it rained part of the time. The place made the rain a little more acceptable. When the rain left we enjoyed the beach and some of the local attractions. More than enough kitchen stuff to prepare our meals there. Would stay again in the future.

Perfect Beach House

Well maintained and beautifully decorated beach house in a convenient location. Everything you need is provided. Private outdoor sitting area with corn hole. Four beach chairs and boogie boards means there is less packing for the trip. Lots of games and puzzles for all ages. Convenient to the beach, restaurants and grocery stores.

Near perfection

Beautiful Home, Extra Touches, Great location!

Bernice has created such a lovely home!!! The sheets were the softest, the bed extremely comfortable. What we loved so much was the extra things, from the beautiful decorative touches, to the snacks and coffees she has for her guests to the games, boogie boards, bags and more!! She made her beautiful home feel like our home (well, maybe even prettier!!!) thank you for the lovely stay! We would absolutely stay with Bernice again!!

Perfect little house

My family of 4 just stayed here for our summer vacation. It was the perfect size for us. Everyone was comfortable. The house is very tastefully decorated. Living room furniture was comfortable. Master bath was bigger than mine at home. The host was attentive to any questions I may have had. Oh, and the outdoor space!!! I had coffee out there every morning.

A wonderful spot for our writing retreat

My friends and I couldn't have been happier with our stay at A Shore Thing. The three of us enjoyed our private bedroooms and the shared living room and outdoor patio were perfect for our get togethers. Cooking was fun and easy because the kitchen was so well equipped. We appreciated the fancy coffee machine and the little snacks that were left. We loved the five minute walk to the grocery store and the beach. The neighborhood was calm and peaceful. Definitely a five star visit! I would like to return with my husband.

Perfect family home!

Hello, our stay here was excellent. It is a lovely craftsman style home with simple clean decor and an excellent layout. There is more space than appears online and at initial arrival! The outdoor space was lovely as well, we enjoyed a grilled dinner and games on the deck. Also the outdoor shower is perfect after a day of sand and sun before going inside. The walk to the beach is very short, maybe 5-7 min depending on the individual, heat is the only downfall, and that can't be blamed on the property owner. All in all 5+ stars, would definitely recommend!

Beautiful Home!

It's easy to give a high rating when everything goes perfectly as planned. The true test, though, is what happens when there's a glitch. We had a glitch with check-in, but we expected it to turn out well based on Bernice's SuperHost status. We weren't wrong. Bernice went above and beyond to make it right, and we enjoyed a fun-filled weekend in her beautiful home. This may be the most well-appointed, cozy VRBO we've visited. We hope to return!

Quiet, family vacation

The pictures online really don’t show how beautiful the home truly is . well decorated comfortable the beds were comfortable. Everyone had their own quiet little location outside was awesome. Our family barbecued for Easter weekend and we had wonderful family time. The beach is very close by. You have Variety of places to go eat whether it’s seafood or ice cream it’s in an extremely good location whether you want to walk bike ride or drive your car . Ms. Bernice thought about everything there was nothing in the home that was missing and inclusive of an extremely well stocked kitchen . anytime I contacted Ms. Bernice just with a general question, she responded almost immediately. We highly recommend her home and will be repeated guest. 😊 Thank you!
