About this property
Ouachita Mountains Luxury Retreat on 40+ acres with Pool, Hot Tub, WiFi
Welcome to Your Ultimate Getaway Hello and welcome! We are Doug and Jacki Alexander, the proud owners of this stunning property. Five years ago, we had the honor of purchasing this home from R.C. Smith, whose family has cherished this land for over a century. R.C. built this home in the heart of a working cattle ranch, and for more than five years, he shared it with guests through VRBO (VRBO #754008). While we weren’t raised here, we feel a deep connection to the property through the rich stories and history R.C. has shared with us. Our own roots run deep in cattle ranching, stretching back generations in the Texas Panhandle. We invite you to experience the same peace, beauty, and sense of belonging that make this place truly special. To our returning guests, we say a heartfelt THANK YOU and WELCOME BACK! And to those discovering this retreat for the first time, WELCOME! We hope you’ll fall in love with the peaceful surroundings, create lasting memories, and make this your new favorite escape. SPECIAL NOTE: While our summer bookings show a four-night minimum, shorter stays may be available between reservations. If you're interested in a shorter visit, just send us an inquiry with your preferred dates, and we’ll do our best to accommodate you with a special quote. Currently 4 night minimum in Summer and 2 night minimum in off- season. ________________________________________ A Dream Destination for Outdoor Enthusiasts Tucked into a private valley surrounded by the Ouachita National Forest and Muddy Creek Wildlife Management Area, this property is an outdoor lover’s paradise. This is our second visit to this home. We’ve enjoyed our time both visits. This time we got to watch the creek flood next to the drive which was peaceful and relaxing. We even fished in it and caught some perch down there as well as in the tank. The pool is always a hit we swim early in the mornings as well as the evenings. The new range stole the show and we quite literally cooked everything possible in it and it worked perfect! It’s a nice home just to relax and rest.
What a beautiful and well appointed retreat in the Ouachita National Forest area! Whether you venture out to the National Forest and surrounding small towns or just stay on the property, there is so much to do. The house is well furnished with all of the amenities you could need, and then some. We were also impressed by the cleanliness of the house. Highly recommended!
The property was clean and neat. The kitchen was fully stocked with all the cooking items you could possibly need. The host was quick to respond and very easy to work with. We had a wonderful time as always at this property.
The house is huge, plenty of room for a large family. Kitchen was amazing, with everything you could need. The house was beautiful and we had a wonderful time.
Amazing home to spend time with family and experience new adventures. So much privacy for our group, yet easy access to essentials with just a short drive. Well stocked, clean home that has been cared for. Beautiful surroundings.
Really beautiful property in a wonderful setting in the rolling hills. Great time with family; all the comforts of home and then some! A wonderful time!
We found this property to be super clean and very accommodating. Everything was well stocked so that made it nice only needing to bring our food. Communication with the owner/manager was top notch as well. I highly recommend this property for large groups. There is plenty of room and many things to do outdoors for everyone.
The house was very clean and beautifully decorated. There were 10 of us and we had plenty of room. The kitchen was awesome! It had everything you could ever need. We spent most of our time out at the pool. It was very peaceful and relaxing. Jacki and Douglas went above and beyond. They thought of everything that you may need to make our stay comfortable.
Oh my gosh!! We had the best time! This was the best VRBO my family and I have ever stayed at. We enjoyed fishing and riding in the paddle boat on the lake. The pool and hot tub were definitely a big hit as well. The owners go above and beyond for their renters. We are already planning on coming back again next year!
We had an exceptional stay at this vacation home with our family and it exceeded our expectations. The communication was awesome and checking in was a breeze. This is such an amazing place to stay with breath taking views! The home was immaculate and they really thought of everything to make their guests feel at home and welcome. The kitchen was fully stocked with everything you would ever think of and more! We enjoyed everything the property had to offer. We took a swim in the refreshing pool, relaxed in the hot tub and gathered around the fire pit in the evenings. Fishing was a hit, we caught 11 catfish and 9 bass! We enjoyed our stay so much that we definitely want to come again! Best Vacation Ever!!
We had an amazing time over spring break in Arkansas especially because the house had so much to offer. The pond was great to fish, paddle and explore. The rocks were cool to investigate and cows up front were always very entertaining especially during the thunderstorm! The hot tub was great for stargaze & long driveway was perfect for a workout and run. Beds were super comfy and the kitchen was fully stocked with whatever you fancied to cook up! This was a great home to share with family and friends.
We had the best time at here. The house was incredible! Everything was immaculate and you could really see the pride of ownership. The chef's kitchen was amazing. It had everything could need for large family meals. There was plenty of beds for 4 couples and a couple of singles. We had so much fun in the pool and hot tub every evening and even spent some time fishing in the pond. We can't wait to go back. This was definitely the best VRBO we've ever stayed in.
Our family enjoys getting together in the foothills of Ouachita Mountains at this wonderful property. The house can easily accomodate a large group in comfort. The pond in back of the house is full of fish for the kids and adults alike. There is plenty of room to go exploring or just sit outside around the fire pit and swap tales with family and friends. Coming here has become a family tradition as we celebrated our 7th year this year. We plan to keep coming back.
This house was the perfect place for a family vacation. All the rooms are spacious and spaced throughout the house to give more "privacy". My kids all took over one area in the house and called it the "kids wing". Communication was excellent before and during the stay. Even though the pictures are very accute and the was even more stunning in person! I'm hoping to be able to stay again in the future!
We stayed here over Easter with two families and couldn't have been more pleased.Come light — the kitchen is exceptionally well-stocked with appliances, cookware, and seasonings. We overpacked as usual and barely needed any of it. A Dollar General just 3 minutes away covers anything you might still be missing. The bedrooms are comfortable and spacious, and there is genuinely room for a crowd. The beds earned high marks from my wife.Amenities are a real highlight: a well-maintained swimming pool, a hot tub, a beautiful pond stocked for fishing, and a stream running alongside the property that's perfect for a family hike (watch for snakes in warmer months). Inside, you'll find board games, Roku TV, and solid Wi-Fi if you need to sneak in some remote work. The setting itself is the star. We spent our mornings on the front porch with coffee, watching cattle graze across open fields. The night sky is stunning — big and bright, even for us Texans. The home is close to Mt. Ida and makes for an easy day trip to Hot Springs or Mena. It is well-maintained, loaded with amenities, and a genuinely relaxing retreat for families.Highly recommended — we would absolutely stay again.
Yearly family vacation was spent here. Can we say incredible!! Everything was just perfect, plenty of room for everyone. We fished, swam, played cards, and generally just hung out. Cancelled the plans for mining cause no one wanted to leave for the day. The amenities were over the top. The kitchen is a dream kitchen for sure! Mrs Bethany was most helpful for any questions we had. Hands down best family vacation ever. Thank you Douglas and Jacki! Already making plans for next year!!!
Lovely place to get away and relax!! Quiet area with a pool that we so enjoyed!! Nice lake to fish and/or use the paddle boat. One evening the perch were really biting and the kiddos had a great time catching them and tossing them back in the lake. Lots of room outside to play a game of kick ball. A long paved driveway for the kids to ride their bikes. The house was great for all of our cooking and family meals and we enjoyed dominos on the large table after the kids went to bed. The layout of the house is fantastic giving you the opportunity to be together but have your own personal space. Would definitely recommend to anyone wanting a place to relax and enjoy time with family!!!
Our group of 6 adults and 2 kids had plenty of room to stretch out and give everyone space to do their own thing. Hot Springs was not too far for a nice day trip, but not much else close by. Glad we preplanned all our meals so did not have to spend so much time cooking there. Pool was nice but the fumes from the mothballs placed in the broken waterfall rocks was very offputting and the wasps were a nuisance that made their nests inside the rocks. I think the waterfall should be dismantled to solve those problems and would also allow access around that side of the pool. The paddleboat was a hit and the kids enjoyed fishing off the bank. Except for mother nature sending us a severe wind storm and making us do a lot of unplanned yardwork and pool cleanup, we enjoyed our stay immensely. Would highly recommend for large groups who want a quiet get away.
The host have thought of everything! Beautiful home with a pool & pond right out the back door! Sit on the screened in back porch with a view of the pond & watch the sunset or sit on the front porch in the morning relaxing & drinking coffee as the cows graze across the front pasture! When they say the kitchen is fully stocked they mean it! Spices, every small appliance you would have at home, dishes for toddlers, even tupperware for your leftovers! They have supplied games, pool toys, even some extra pool towels, & aloe vera gell because there is always someone who gets a sunburn. Kayak rentals & horse back riding are less than a 10 minute drive away or visit Hot Springs for the famous bath houses or just some shopping & exploring. Visit Queen Wilhelmina for the spectular overlook. And don't forget to vistit the ice cream parlor while there & take the litle ones on a train ride. You will not be disappointed in booking!
The house was big and spacious! Enough room for all. Kitchen was stocked with all the appliances you would need and then some. 2 refrigerators which came in handy plus the 2 dishwashers. Beautiful sunsets over the pond. All of the grandkids caught their first fish! Pool and hot tub were a huge hit!
Grandson loved watching the cows cross the driveway.
WiFi was spotty on days.
Bob’s grocery store and Dollar General are close for your grocery needs.
Drove to Hot Springs one day. Ate lunch, miniature golf, ice cream, walked around bath houses.
Did some hiking.
Mrs. Bethany was very helpful & so friendly! Answered any questions we had. Gave ideas on what to see. She even sent text after we left to follow up. She’s a Gem!!
Owners always corresponded if I had questions as well.
Great family or friends get away. Highly recommend this VRBO
The MOST well appointed vacation home you’ll ever stay in!
This home is even better than pictured! We had a large group with plenty of room with room to spare. This home had everything we could need & more; FULLY stocked kitchen, BOOKS!, games, pool toys/life jackets, & more! Our group had a blast fishing & using the paddle boat, swimming in the awesome pool, relaxing on the porches, walking around the beautiful property & enjoying the peace and quiet.
Sound machines in every room & the room with a crib even has a changing table-how thoughtful is that! We also loved the coloring books and word searches!
Also, something worth mentioning is that although this home is smoke free, there were pots outside for butts which was very considerate!
We brought scooters for the kiddos & enjoyed taking them up & down the paved driveway. We also brought chalk since there was plenty of pavement around for artwork :)
We appreciated how wonderfully attentive Doug & Jacki were & how they made sure it truly felt like a home away from home. If we needed anything, they were a text or phone call away!
I just can’t say enough good things about this home! It completely exceeded our expectations.
(As for location, it’s away from hustle & bustle but there is a dollar general less than five minutes away or about 15 minutes away there’s a little town of Mt Ida with a full grocery store, a few other shops & a wonderful museum!
Or if you need WalMart, Mena is about a 35 minute drive from the house & it’s a much bigger town.)
Wonderful experience all together!
One of the best properties I have ever stayed at. Excellent accommodations that were stocked better than most properties. Picture perfect views throughout the property. Everyone in our party was talking about when we can stay here again.
