The view from the room was incredibly beautiful and peaceful. The service was excellent, and the meals were absolutely delicious. Additionally, the hotel provided an air steamer, which was a considerate touch. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at the hotel
The hotel is a bit further away from the centre of Yufuin but it is less than 10 mins taxi ride from the station. The hotel is clean, beautiful and serves good food with generous portion. It would be better if the food can be served less in a rush but the pace was still acceptable - after all we could stay in the room to enjoy the onsen after dinner! Service was attentive and staff spoke good English. The scenery from the room was very nice with mountain view, especially in the Autumn season where you can see different shades of colours.
Recommended for travellers who want to stay in a quieter part of Yufuin :)
Thanks to your kindness and help, we were able to catch our flight on time. Our hosts helped us find our route and book train tickets to secure a 'tight' flight departure time. He even took us to the train station so we could buy tickets.
Additionally, this ryokan is located in a quiet and secluded location about 5 minutes from Yufuin Station. (The host provides pick-up service) I recommend enjoying the streets of Yufuin first and then enjoying a peaceful rest at this ryokan with a delicious kaiseki dinner!
I had an amazing time at Ryokan Yufuin Tsubaki. I booked the half-board stay at Tsubaki using Expedia and the staff at Tsubaki was in contact with me almost immediately to confirm the details and finalize the pick up time from Yufuin Station. Note that as a fan of walking, even Tsubaki's location is a bit far from the Yufuin Station so once the staff picks you up at the train station to take you back to the ryokan (around 3pm), you will likely end up spending the rest of your time at the ryokan before leaving the next morning around 10am (unless you have your own car).
I stayed in the Butterfly room which is beautiful! Tsubaki is a small little ryokan with a collection of 7 different "rooms/mini villas". My room was technically a one bedroom suite that had a direct view of Mt Yufu both on the first floor (where your living room and bedroom and toilet is located) and the "basement" floor where the bathroom (sink/mirror/dressing area) and separate private onsen bath/shower area is located. It was very sizeable and the rooms were in Japanese style (tatami mats, sliding doors, kotatsu chairs, etc) while the beds were elevated Western beds.
The food was glorious! Half-board stays means that breakfast and dinner is provided. Both were a pseudo-kaiseki style with Western influences and I was stuffed!
Highly recommend the stay!
The included dinner and breakfast are delicious. The room is big and clean, fantastic!!! We enjoy our stay here very much! Will recommend others to come!
All around the view and the moment would make us feel peace.
The main point is staff were very polite! i'm super thanks their kindness help, i will be choose this hotel when i come back visit :D
