Welcome to your UP adventure headquarters: *Floodwood River Oar’asis*! Our tranquil little artfully curated getaway is the perfect home base for anyone visiting the UP! Our vibes are a blend of outdoorsy inspired northwoods nostalgia balanced with some comforts you’d find at home (picture cozy linens, comfy beds, a rainfall style shower head, the crackle of a campfire under the stars, and a warm cup of coffee/tea). Hosting is so much more to us than just renting out our cabin. We strive to help create a memorable experience for our guests! A bit about our location: perfect for outdoor enthusiasts, we are situated along the banks of the Floodwood River, and we are a few miles from the public beach for Lake Superior access. During peak snow season, bring your sleds and ride (safely) along the shoulder of the highway to the trailhead (3mi)! If conditions are just right, you may even fall asleep to the sound of the waves of the big lake, or stay up late and catch a glimpse of the breathtaking dance of the northern lights! The cabin sits on serene 32 acres of private wooded property so you are welcome to explore, snowshoe (provided for guests in winter) and relax to your hearts content. We are located just a few miles from town, where you’ll find a selection of shops, groceries, gas as well as options for dining out (we reccommend The Squeeze!). We are also approx 20 miles away from Porcupine Mountains Wilderness State Park including Lake of the Clouds, all levels of hiking trails, waterfalls, beaches, cc and downhill skiing and more! There are plenty of nearby snowmobile, atv and hiking trails/UP adventure hotspots (Bond Falls, Agate Falls, etc. or take the ferry to Isle Royale) within an hour or so radius of the cabin; the possibilities are endless no matter what season you visit! Interior cabin amenities include: the main floor is wheelchair accessible, has a covered porch with spacious entryway, full bath with tile shower, petite yet well equipped kitchen and wet bar as well as a dining and living area. There are two queen beds, one on the main floor and one up in the loft, sleeping a total of 4 people. Upstairs, opposite the sleeping area, you’ll find a desk for creatives and a cozy reading nook. We have internet service for you to work remotely, but also encourage you to disconnect and take time to enjoy a hobby of yours or explore the outdoors! Speaking of outdoor space: Please be respectful our occasional animal visitors, including deer, hummingbirds, river beavers, and more! We have a firepit with chairs as well as a trail down to the river. There is a very large and level gravel area with plenty of room for parking and unloading trailers for those of you who are visiting us to snowmobile or ATV/side by side on the local trails! If youre looking to rent, Hamilton’s North Coast rents sleds and atvs. We cannot wait for you to join us @floodwoodriveroarasis on your next trip to Upper Michigan!

Great location for visiting the Porkies while still being close to groceries and restaurants. The cabin property was nice and private with spacious grounds surrounded by trees and a great fire pit. The interior had everything we could possibly need including spices, coffee, and toiletries in case we forgot anything. This was, by far, the best stocked rental we’ve ever stayed at. Beyond that, it was just a fantastic cabin to relax after long hikes and wake up to the next day of hiking.

The cabin is perfect and in a great location to explore. The hosts have included lots of little extras to ensure you have everything you need. Thankfully we didn't forget anything, but if we had I'm sure it was there. The cinnamon strudel banana bread was delicious!

This cabin was the perfect retreat. A really well-stocked kitchen made cooking & clean-up a breeze. The rain-head shower was a pleasant surprise. The overall peaceful nature of the location really made it feel like a retreat with just us and the stars! I loved the porch, and all the little touches with twinkle lights on the porch, and in the cabin. Brightens the space in a soft & relaxing way. The woodwork was really lovely. The garden surrounding the cabin was just the right size. We loved it and highly recommend it!

Overjoyed in Ontonagon!

So very impressed with this charming cottage! Absolutely amazing stay with so much to offer near the shores of Lake Superior. Heidi is a one of a kind hostess with all her creativity and close attention to detail everything you need is available within her immaculate haven! My wife and I were greeted with Blueberry Crepes in the fridge which made the for quite a delicious treat for our first morning before exploring the Upper Keweenaw Peninsula!The beautiful flowerbeds, humming birds, and porch to relax on were simply amazing!Just can't wait to return and spend an entire week next time we visit! Truly a Great Place to Stay!

This cabin is awesome! Its more spacious than the pictures show and it has a great location close to the lake, the porkies and restaurants. The hosts, Heidi and Gary, they are the most welcoming and thoughtful hosts you could ever ask for. If you're considering booking this cabin do it, you won't regret it!

Adorable secluded Cabin

We really enjoyed our stay - wished we would have booked an extra day or two! Perfect location for hikes around the Porkies Mountain and just exploring. Gary & Heidi were great - making sure we were comfortable & taken care of! Even left us some Blueberry Crepe & Wine upon our arrival - delicious snack & arrival bonus! BEST VRBO stay ever!!!

Heidi went above and beyond to make out stay feel warm and inviting. She even made us a little treat. The cabin was absolutely perfect for our family of 3. She has literally thought of everything you could possibly need! We were not far from the snowmobile trail, from the front doordoor.

Cute cabin get away

Very cute & well appointed cabin. Close to many activities and services, but far enough out for some serious quiet. Heidi was extremely prompt with communication and even provided welcome treats for our arrival. Meticulously clean throughout with well stocked kitchen and bath. Excellent facilities for a couple or two (or family) to spend time away together. Snowmobile trail access is just a short ride down the roadside. Will certainly be staying here again should we find ourselves vacationing in the area.

This cabin / cottage is a great place. The host is AMAZING and her chocolate cake was awesome! Sitting and watching the humming birds was so relaxing. It was very easy to feel like you were at home - Heidi created a great environment.

A great home base when exploring the Upper Peninnsula

Lots of attention to detail with amenities. We were out all day every day but a sweet place to come back to. Cooking a bit of a challenge in tiny kitchen but as long as you keep up with the dishes the dearth of counter space merely quaint! Really comfortable bed.

Pefect getaway

This place was exactly what we needed for our snowmobile trip. Place has everything you need. Communication was excellent right from the start. You have to appreciate all the little details that the owners put into the property to make you feel at home and relaxed. We will definitely be booking with them again for a weekend on the harleys! By far the best vrbo experience we have had.Tha ks for everything!

Floodwood was our oasis!

Heidi and Gary couldn't do any better than they've done to set up and share this adorable cabin! This really has been the best stay we've ever had as a family. Our son loved his own bedroom and we loved the upstairs oasis for ours. Every little detail has been put into both decorating and stocking this perfect vacation home! We enjoyed sitting on the porch watching the hummingbirds in the morning and having dinner around the firepit at night. The access to the public beach (2mi away) and the Porkies (10 min away) were perfect as well!
