About this property

Entire place

You'll have the entire home to yourself and will only share it with other guests in your party.

Beach, Bikes and Bonfires

This four bedroom, two bathroom home, situated 5 minutes from Opotiki is ideal as a base for exploring in and around Opotiki. Directly opposite Waiotahe Beach, you'll kick off your shoes and be earthing your feet in the sand with the warm pacific ocean tickling your toes.

Located directly across the road from ever popular Waiotahe Beach this home has easy access onto the Opotiki bike trails: Head west to the Waiotahe Estuary or bike east, along the trail into Opotiki township and then further still, out to the Motu Trails and beyond.
You’ll have the option of outdoor living out the front overlooking the sea on the large balcony off the lounge, or if it’s too hot, move to the rear of the property and cool down looking over rural agricultural pastures.
Three bedrooms are located on one level, with the bonus of a fourth bedroom downstairs, which doubles as a second lounge with external entry. Ideal for older children in need of their own space.
Kitchen, dining and lounge are open plan with easy access onto either deck, front or rear. The décor has a relaxed vibe with areas to enjoy life at the beach with friends and family or a getaway as a couple to just chill and unwind.
Opotiki is 5 minutes away and Whakatane is thirty minutes away.
Come and stay for a few nights, or a week or two. There’s plenty to see and do, whether it’s dipping your toes in the sea right opposite, going for a bike ride, exploring in and around Waiotahe/Ohiwa, or simply spreading out and enjoying the sunshine as the world goes by.

Guests have access to the entire house and property.

Located 5 minutes from Opotiki and 30 minutes from Whakatane, this property is ideally placed on the Opotiki Cycle Trail with access opposite the house, either west to Waiotahe Estuary or east into Opotiki.

A car is advisable to get around as public transport is very limited.

Waiotahe is a beach side settlement. The property has State Highway 2 running along between the house and the beach.. Extreme caution is advised when crossing the road and children should be actively supervised when crossing.

Perfect space - think as a camper
We absolutely loved the layout of the house - big communal space for relaxing, talking and playing games. Great selection of games supplied. Closeness to the beach was a huge bonus and the backyard gorgeous. We didn't mind that the dishwasher didn't work (a dish drainer would've been good) and we had no issue with the slow hot water. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay but the downstairs bunk room smelled musty and damp (mattresses no good). Also the issue with having no outside wheelie bin should be highlighted in the property description. It's like camping where you must remove all your rubbish from the property. As we were from OS we didn't know how to access recycling venues and even if we did, all were closed over the Christmas period. I asked some locals if this was a normal thing in NZ not to supply a wheelie bin for holiday accommodation - the answer was definitely not! So overall the space was ideal but think like a camper in terms of rubbish you create.

Friends away for an event weekend
A group of us had a sports event in the area so we chose the property for the location. The house was nice but very tired. The water pressure is weak and we had no towels ( they were delivered when we asked) and the dishwasher wouldn't work. Strangely the only tv was located in a bedroom and not in the living area. We worked around things but overall were a bit disappointed. The one good thing was the communication with the manager.
