Your property is beautiful. & private. views from the dock awsome . very quiet spot on the lake .very compatable with ROCKWOOD ON MOOSEHEAD LAKE MAINE but half the traveltime from southern N.H..CRYSTAL CLEAR WATER AREA IS VERY RELAXING.just a beautiful spot we were a family of 7 2 dogs brought the boat enjoyed tubing.fishing.& boating also enjoyed the resident eagles.ducks.& loons & fish .
We went to this property to celebrate my in-law's 50th wedding anniversary. The house and property was beautiful and very accommodating to our large group which included 10 adults, 3 children, and 2 dogs. Bret our host was very quick to respond to any questions we had. My family and I would definitely rent this property again!!!
We stayed here for a week with 12 people. There was enough room for everyone to sleep comfortably. Two refrigerators made storing food a breeze and the kitchen had everything we needed as well as a gas grill. The location is perfect if your goal is to spend the day swimming in the clean, clear waters of the lake or hiking the nearby trails. It is a solid 30-40 minutes to any store. The hosts provide only starter house essentials; we had to venture out to buy additional toilet paper and dishwasher soap, so I’d advise bringing extras of those items. Bret is an extremely responsive communicator. He fielded a number of questions and his responses were timely and helpful. My only suggestion would be to enhance the awesome swimming situation with a swim dock (definitely no jumping or diving off the dock they have right now—although we heard the water was very low this year). Overall, a fabulous experience!
Off the beaten path - waterfront home on pristine & quiet lake
If you are looking to get away from it all on a gorgeous lake with views of the mountains, this is a perfect option. Home accommodated a multi-generational family of 12 and 2 dogs.
Clean, overall well-maintained. Lake is crystal clear, quiet with little boat traffic. Nice new dock -swimming exceptional. Fishing not so great when we were there in mid-July- water may have been warmer than normal.
Communication with Bret was great - when there was an issue with the kayaks/canoes, he quickly refunded the extra fee to use them. Boat launch is only about a mile away if bringing your own boat.
Note that access is not difficult but includes about 10 miles of dirt road. If traveling in from Route 95, recommend using Exit 75/Lewiston/Auburn NOT exit 63/Gray as this brings you in on a less well-maintained dirt road (some wash out issues). Google Maps wanted us to use Exit 63- some in group did and it was not the best route. Trip into Oquossoc takes about 30 minutes/into Rangeley and IGA for food shopping takes about 40 minutes, so had to plan accordingly.
Nice home. Very private. Accommodated 8 people very comfortably, plenty of room. Nice view of the lake. Lake has very little boat traffic. The host Bret was great. Highly recommend for a quiet, beautiful area to stay.
The cabin was perfect for our family. We had my BIL and his kids stay with us and we had plenty of room. The views and amazing. Water was chilly but felt amazing after a hike. We loved our stay. The parking is plenty big enough that we had a very competitive game of woofle ball. That dirt road going to the cabin can seem frustrating.
Large and well equipped property on a quiet place and an iconic lake. Canoed, kayaked, fished, swam, etc. Great place for an extended family to get away from it all. Easily accommodated 6 adults and 4 kids. Everything one needs and a bit of “rusticity” to boot. Property manager Sue is very nice too.
House and furnishings are beautiful. Lake is beautiful as well. Great swimming and boating. Extended period of wet summer weather provided us with a bumper crop of mosquitoes and slugs, and didn't make for great travel on the miles of dirt roads.
WOW! The photos don't even do this place justice! The lake is closer to the house than in the photos, which was amazing for the kids! The house is so BEAUTIFUL! We had an amazing stay with family last week! We had a wide range of age groups, and needed a place that would be comfortable for everyone, and this was it! Only downside is we booked early in the season, so the dock wasnt in yet, but we didnt mind! The kids LOVED walking around the rocks, and splashing in the crystal clear waters! We will be back! Thanks again for an unforgettable week!
The house was in a beautiful location. There was ample space for my entire family plus 2 dogs. The caretakers across the street were very responsive and helpful. The water was brown, however, and even with continued running did not fully clear up. We purchased water which was fine. The house is somewhat remote, a hefty drive to Rangeley but we knew that when we made the reservation. We had a great week together and enjoyed our stay at the house.
Bret is a great host and is very responsive. The house was beautiful and had everything we needed. The Rangeley Lake district of Maine is one of the most beautiful places I've ever been too. The mountains surrounding the lake are breath taking. All the locals were very friendly and helpful. My only advice, don't use Waze to get there.. It took us on a very remote road and the last 10 miles took 40 minutes plus. Google Maps is the way to go around the lake and it shortened travel times to town by more than half. Can't wait to come back..
Our group enjoyed our stay at the Steiman House. Great place to disconnect and enjoy nature! House was spacious for our group of 8 25 year olds. Bret was fast to respond to any questions. Will 100% rent again!
This is a beautiful chalet style house, on a beautiful, natural lakeside setting. The rooms are large and nicely furnished, the kitchen is very well stocked and it truly is a 4 season holiday home. We stayed over Christmas, had no problem preparing and cooking the Christmas dinner, and thoroughly enjoyed the big fireplace, and opportunities to sled and enjoy other winter activities! The nearest town, Oquossoc, is about 20 min away, and has a decent little grocery with homecooked soups etc, as well as the excellent Portage Tap room, gas station and 49th parallel Grille. Bret was quickly responsive to all communications . We would certainly recommend this home, and hope to return next year!
Bret was an absolute pleasure to work with throughout the entire process. He answered any and every question immediately. The house was perfect for our group (6 adults, 2 kids and 1 infant). Our kids were able to have the downstairs and easily access out back. House was spacious and had all the necessities. Thank you for a great trip!
the house was very spacious. My kids loved using the canoes on this lovely quiet lake. Having such a large dock to sit and enjoy the sunset and sunrise or to fish off of in the evenings was wonderful. Bret answered my questions very quickly and was gracious about waving the pet fee due to the dryer being broken during our stay. I would definitely stay at this lake house in the future!
The house was really great, and the lake was beautiful. The dock was great for swimming and launching the canoes for trips onto the lake. The deck was perfect for eating while enjoying views of the lake, as well. The views of the lake from the house were actually better than the photos on the listing made it seem. The loons came to visit a few times during the week, which is always a nice treat. Overall, this is a beautiful spot for a Maine lake vacation
This was a great get away. The kids enjoyed the water - swimming, kayaking, canoeing and fishing. The kitchen was well equipped and the house is spacious. The kids took over the basement and the adults were able to enjoy the main floor.
