Close to train station
It was clean and comfortable, close to the train/metro station and places to eat. Staff was friendly and the hotel felt safe. Just needs a little paint on the outside and a little updating, but it is quite adequate especially for the price and location.

Use it as a place to sleep - nothing more.
Be prepared to pay a "city hotel tax", collected up-front at check-in. The photos on this site were obviously very carefully taken. We knew there was something amiss as we initially approached the hotel. The majority of the front area of the hotel is covered in graffiti. We were out and about all the time and we only slept there, so we got we paid for. Given our itinerary, the pro for us was general location. The area is a bit seedy though. The shower tiles has mold in the joints and everything looked old - REALLY old. No air conditioning, as expected, but no screens in the windows either. The steps and hallways were poorly maintained - peeled and scratched paint everywhere. Door locks were a joke. Leaving the giant metal key at the desk concerned us - no ID ever requested - even from staff we didn't meet yet. We carried passports and valuables at all times when away. Bed bug check came up negative, but the comforter looked to be 20 years old. The furniture looked like it was collected out of local garbage. To their credit, all of the hotel staff was very friendly and helpful - every single employee we encountered for that matter. Excellent home base for us. We are hikers, so the walk to Notre Dame area was easy. We also walked to SOHO a lot. Day trips to other countries were a short (7 min) walk to Gare du Nord where we accessed Thalys and EuroStar high speed trains. The metro at Gare de l'Est was conveniently just 100 feet away.

close to all transports , but didnt like the area.
right outside the Gare lest rail to all transport, trams close by , lots of restaraunts and bus at door! staff willing to help BUT... small rooms, basic you get what you pay for , in an afro ethnic area, alot of men standing around streets , not recommended for female travellers, area undesirable .

Hotel Amiot review
Location is good, metro at your door step. Internet connection very poor and overall cleanliness poor. Very uncomfortable beds, won't be staying here again.

terrible place to stay
I stayed for 3 days and during the entire stay wifi was not working. I asked to cancel the reservation because of no wifi and they said it is prepaid so I can't cancel. It is an old building, the beds are so hard and uncomfortable. The hotel staff were not very friendly. It is very close to the train station so the crowds hanging around is not so friendly. If you are looking for a place to stay close to the station, stay away from this place at any cost. You can say, you get what you paid for, my point is this place is not worth your money.

Great Location, Clean Hotel
Very very old hotel, but do not be afraid. It is located in the center of Paris and all other main areas are near by. It is located just a cross from Gare de l'est train station and only .4 miles from Gare de Nord train station. The room we had was very small but the hotel, room and bathrooms were clean clean. The service was good, they made our room everyday and gave us new towels. For the price and comfort you can beat it.

Location great for a short visit
We were just in Paris for a day and stayed here because of the price and location. It was very easy to find and very close to the train station. I'd suggest taking the Metro to the attractions (we tried to walk and almost didn't make it). Breakfast was decent and although it's a little rough around the edges it was clean and cozy. Great view also.

Convenient hotel, but no hair dryer
The room is quite clean and quite spacious. The only problem is the hair dryer is upon request. We stayed there for 2 nights and kept asking for hair dryer, and had never got one.

Decent budget hotel with great transport links
I stayed for 2 nights at the Hotel Amiot, which is a 2 star hotel literally opposite Gare d'Lest, which means it has great transport links. It is also within a few minutes walking distance of Gare Du Nord station in case you arrive in Paris with the Eurostar. It is a budget hotel, so don't expect fridges or kettles in your room. I booked a room for 1 person, and had a spacious room on the second floor (the hotel has 6 floors) with a double bed, desk and chair, wardrobe including small safe, and TV. The bathroom was spacious with a bath tub shower, and you the hotel provided hand towels and bath towels, as well as soap and shower gel. You could open the windows in both rooms. The rooms were very clean, and were cleaned each day. The receptionist spoke English. The hotel has a small lift and a stair case as well. If you just need a space to sleep, this is perfect. The room rate on expedia was half of what I would have paid on the day, and the Ibis around the corner costs more than twice the money. I didn't use the breakfast option, so I can't comment on that. I would book this hotel again, because of the great location and value for money.

Nice, clean Quadruple room for a family of 4.
The room and beds were clean and comfy. Good views and lots of fresh air by opening the windows. Close to public transportation and restaurants. The approach to the 6th floor was bit of a problem. The lift goes only till the 5th floor and had to take the stairs to the 6th floor. It becomes a big problem especially if you have 2 big suitcases and a Baby Pram to take it to the room. Apart from that inconvenience, the stay was pleasant.

The room was good sized. The beds were clean and comfortable. There was a free safe for our valuables. The help was friendly. The WiFi didn't work in the room. Sometimes it worked when we would stand by the router down the hall. The elevator should be replaced. The place is very old. It was near the train station so not a favorable place to stay.

Complete mismanagement !!! Booked for two night for 4 of us 2 adults n 2 kids , 1st night they gave 2 rooms 3bed n single bed( this room was occupied by some one else n their luggage was still there !!!! ) .. By the time came back 2 day night they had shifted all our baggage to another room without informing us !! worst experience ever.. Would never recommend to any one !!

Great little hotel directly across from the Gare de l'Est train station- because of that, it's a central Bus area. HIGHLY RECOMMEND Bus 42!! Will take you through to most of the main sights in Paris & costs €2! Hotel reception was helpful. Room was clean & tidied daily. Didn't have breakfast, as there are too many great little places around. Big problem: wifi didn't work at all. Piece of paper on the wall telling about current problems with the wifi behind the reception desk had clearly been hanging there a LONG time. This kind of put an annoying thing on an otherwise problem free & nice stay. I would stay there again.

Economical hotel in a rundown area. It is right next to Gare du l'est which means there is traffic all day long.Doesn't make you feel safe,we heard fighting in the street below both nights we were there

Great location across the street from gare l'est!
Took my family to Paris for vacation and was delighted to have found hotel amiot 2 short blocks from gare du nord, a CDG direct train stop. The hotel is 20 meters from metro entrance and maybe 100 from gare l'est. It was a 20 minute walk to Cite, Notre Dame, etc. Front desk was polite and helpful. We felt safe and enjoyed our room view from the sixth floor. Price was very fair. If you seek 5 star accommodations and have no regard for prices then perhaps you might choose another hotel.

Our two rooms looked NOTHING like what was in the picture. Both rooms were creepy. My room had an uneven, tilted floor. When in bed my feet were almost higher than my head. Cut my foot twice on a nail that was sticking out of the floor. The shower drain was emitting the sewer smell. The shower wall had short curly hairs on the wall. The lady who worked the front desk the two days we were there was rude, unfriendly & unhelpful.

The bath in room 28
I've stayed in this hotel before and it's fine if you're not into luxury accommodation, this time however my bath in room 28 had virtually no enamel coating on it due to wear and tear and I ended up with half the skin on my back being rubbed off and bleeding!

Receptionist very helpful and English speaking ! Unfortunately the room was a big let down. Sound of contantly running water through the radiator made sleeping difficult. The toilet seat was broken almost hanging on by one only one hinge, and moved around when sittling on it. Broken shower bracket. Could not hang shower from wall had to be hand-held while showering. Both toilet and shower show either incompetance by housekeeping staff or a complete disregard for customers.
