2 Culinary Suites in the heart of Wine Country!
THE NEIGHBORHOOD
Step into a slice of Spanish countryside, right in Paso Robles. Nestled at the edge of town, our home feels worlds away from the rush of life — yet downtown is just five minutes down the road. Featuring two private suites and a chef’s kitchen built for celebration, Refugio is the perfect setting for every occasion.
SLEEPING ACCOMMODATIONS
Our two suites — affectionately named Oak and Barn — each have their own entrance, ensuite, wet bar, and private deck with a fire pit for late-night stargazing. • Oak Suite: King bed with luxe linens, love seat, wet bar, and a spa-like bath with dual sinks, soaking tub, stand-up shower, and private water closet. • Barn Suite: King bed with luxe linens, love seat, wet bar, dual sinks, and a large walk-in shower.
Both suites include hair dryers, quality linens, and thoughtful touches to make you feel right at home.
LIVING & ENTERTAINING (Interior)
Enter through the sprawling deck and into an airy living space.
The chef’s kitchen is the heart of our home — complete with a huge island (seating for 8), double Gaggenau cooktops, two convection ovens, dual dishwashers, French-door fridge/freezer, ice maker, wine cooler, and every gadget you could think of to whip up a feast. Gather at the 10-person dining table, or flow outside for al fresco meals.
LIVING & ENTERTAINING (Exterior)
Slide open the accordion glass doors, and nature becomes your living room. Fire up the Santa Maria–style BBQ (for the pros), a gas grill (for the everyday cook), or the wood-fired pizza oven (for the adventurous). Pair with fresh ingredients from local farms, and you’ve got the recipe for a perfect meal.
A FEW EXTRAS
Need to mix business with pleasure? Starlink high-speed Wi-Fi keeps you connected.
GUEST AMENITIES
We’ve stocked the essentials so you can rest & relax: luxe linens, plenty of towels, soap, shampoo, conditioner, lotion, paper products, dish + laundry supplies, plus kitchen staples like coffee, tea, olive oil, vinegar, salt, pepper, and a drawer full of spices.
THE IMMEDIATE AREA
You’re in the heart of Paso Wine Country! Downtown is just 5 minutes away with dozens of tasting rooms, restaurants, boutiques, and the Saturday farmer’s market. In summer, catch free Thursday night concerts in the park — bring a blanket, a bottle of wine, and dance under the stars.
PROVISIONS
Groceries and essentials are just 5 minutes away. Special treats from local purveyors like Vivant Fine Cheese and Sinson & Sons are less than 15 minutes away.
RESTAURANTS
Paso is a foodie’s dream. We have everything from pizza and tacos to Michelin dining. Italian, French, Irish, Asian, Mexican, even Argentinian — it’s all here.
ACTIVITIES
Wine, beer, and spirits tasting. Hot air ballooning. Horseback riding. Hiking. Ziplining. Farmer’s Markets. Concerts. Spas. Beaches. Morro Bay. Hearst Castle. Cambria. Options abound. The only hard part? Choosing what to do first.
Refugio isn’t just a stay. It’s a little piece of Paso magic.

We had an excellent stay here. The place was comfortable, spotless, and very well stocked with everything we needed. It felt thoughtfully set up rather than bare-bones, which made it easy to settle in right away. The location was a big plus—quiet and relaxing, but still very convenient. We were close to Paso Robles and an easy drive to San Luis Obispo, so getting to wineries, restaurants, and town was simple without feeling like we were in the middle of it all.Overall, it was a great balance of comfort, cleanliness, and location. We’d absolutely stay here again and would recommend it to anyone looking for a calm home base in the Paso area.
This was the perfect location for two couples. Each had separate king suites with a large living room kitchen area. The kitchen was very well equipped. It was a short 10 minute drive to downtown restaurants. The host was great to provide restaurant and winery options. Would definitely stay here again.
Four seniors and our first time in Paso Robles. So much to do, and Refugio was the perfect place to stay. Very nice private bedroom suites and a chef’s kitchen with plenty of space for all four of us to get together. We’d do it again in a heartbeat.
The home is very nice and set up well. Hosts were very nice, helpful and friendly. We will return there on our next trip to the area. Location is good area is quiet and safe. Our group was two couples and it’s set up wonderful with two main suites.
We stayed with another couple for the weekend. Went to wineries, saw the ocean at Morro Bay and cooked some meals in the beautiful kitchen! Brigid was a wonderful, responsive host and the property was relaxing. Highly recommend
A true gem and delight in Paso. The location and chef's kitchen provided a wonderful jumping off point for our Paso adventures. The hospitality went far beyond what we expected or have experienced from any previous VRBO experiences. Highly recommended for any adult trip.
Unique property-- very conducive to our old friends meet up. Brigit handled all the communications promptly and very thoroughly. Casey was an excellent greeter--would have loved to have them both for drinks but didnt want to intrude. Info ahead of time was great. Beds were awesome. The location was just far enough outside town to be relaxing and bucolic and close enough for everything else. Thanks!!
My husband and I and another couple had the best time at Refugio. Communication with the owner was great and she provided an insider's list of favorite restaurants, wineries, hikes, food shops and more. The home has a great kitchen and two separate suites, was very tidy, and is nicely sited. We’d definitely go back!
We returned to stay after being away for 2 years and it was once again a great stay! The property was in excellent condition. We used the professional kitchen many nights during our stay and love the inside and outside living areas. We also felt the 2 custom bedroom suites were once again perfect for our group. It's a great location to explore this beautiful wine region!
What a lovely place, wonderful communication throughout our stay, clean and beautiful and full of luxurious amenities. I was so delighted to cook in a real chef + cookbook authors kitchen, every detail was so thoughtful, so stocked and incredibly spacious. This is a special place to gather and feast and sleep so comfortably. In the heart of the Paso wine country. We'd love to come back soon. thank you C + B.
Refugio is a magical place - the welcoming, easy feel is immediate. The view is a peaceful wow, we loved the plentiful/appealing lighting (with dimmer switches!) - and we appreciated the extra touches/pleasant surprises like placemats and substantial tableware and utensils. The window wall was heavenly on the days when the temperature was mild. Refugio was the perfect size for us; two master suites made it ideal for our stay. Leaving was difficult! Already looking forward to a return visit. Thank you, Brigit + Casey!
My husband and I and our friends stayed at Refugio. First I just need to point out that Brigit and Casey are amazing hosts. They were so responsive and made sure any question or need we had was answered immediately. The home has two very large and very comfortable suites. The beds and pillows were extremely comfortable. The main part of the house had a huge and very well stocked kitchen with ample seating. The home is quiet and peaceful just what we wanted and needed after full days of wine tasting. We are looking forward to returning to this home for future visits to the Paso area.
Host we're easy to get in touch with and very friendly. Really enjoyed our stay and have nothing bad to say. We do have a few suggestions and something we would consider if staying 5 days again. We definitely LOVED your place and would stay & recommend to friends! Enjoyed the kitchen, heated bathroom floors, luxury bedding & towels.
Few suggestions to feel more comfy when staying longer then a few nights: night lights for the bedrooms, TV would of been nice to watch a movie one night and either a sectional or 2 comfy chairs with love seat so that 4 people can hangout in the extra space when cold outside. Don't get me wrong, we loved loved loved our stay but I know giving some other suggestion can also be helpful if people are staying more than 1 or 2 nights.
Thank you again for the wine! We definitely recommend this place and hope to stay again since we do frequent Paso 3-4x/year. Cheers!!
We have traveled to Paso Robles for years and this property have everything we love when looking for the perfect place.
*Great location to wineries and to town
*Quiet and private place to relax
*Two suites with luxurious bedding, comfortable beds, and overall beautifully appointed.
*Gourmet Kitchen - And I do mean gourmet! Every piece of cookware needed to make your favorite meals. We are all foodies and took advantage of having everything we need at our fingertips.
*The view from the floor to ceiling doors that open up to the California fields? Spent alot of time on the front porch with coffee in the mornings.
*Last but certainly not least - The hosts were gracious and greeted us with a bottle of wine and soft music.
Would we come back ? Absolutely!
Rustic Elegance with Unforgettable Hospitality in Paso Robles
Our stay at Refugio in Paso Robles was nothing short of outstanding. The transformation of an old barn into an extravagant guesthouse by our hosts, Bridget and Casey, speaks volumes of their dedication to offering a unique and luxurious experience.
The two master suites, complemented by private decks, provided breathtaking vistas that only added to the place's allure. The gourmet show kitchen, not only equipped with top-notch appliances, beckoned us to spend our evenings cooking and relishing the serene surroundings. It felt reminiscent of the luxury and comfort one would find at a top-rated hotel with super comfy beds and ensuite accommodations. The communal areas were comfy too, which allowed the 4 of us to be together or get some privacy. Seriously, room for 12 to sit around the massive kitchen island.
The outdoor space with the huge bifold doors from the enormous kitchen opens to a serene patio with its wood-fired pizza oven and breath taking vistas. This became our favorite spot to capture the mesmerizing sunsets.
In addition to the impeccable setting, the graciousness and accommodation of our hosts stood out. Despite the profound sense of privacy the property afforded, Bridget and Casey were always within reach, ready to assist with any needs that arose during our stay.
We are genuinely thankful for the experience and look forward to our next visit. Refugio is a gem in Paso Robles, and we highly recommend it to anyone seeking a blend of luxury and rustic charm.
Refugio was a perfect choice for a long weekend vacation. It’s great for two couples…a fantastic kitchen to hang out but two master suites for privacy. We made use of the outdoor spaces at night and shared the excellent bottle of wine our hosts left for us. We all appreciated the cleanliness, the high end linens and overall peace and quiet of Refugio. So much thoughtfulness was put into the space and it is a wonderful place to stay.
We stayed at Refugio for 5 nights as we explored the area. We cannot say enough wonderful things about the property, host, location, etc. HIGHLY recommend!
