Sunrise at Penguin - beach retreat

Sunrise at Penguin is aptly named as it witnesses the morning splendour directly opposite the beach - situated 200 metres from the town centre and 30 metres from the beach.

This 3 bedroom house ( 2 Queen beds & 2 Single beds ) is fully self contained and short and long stays are encouraged.

Coffee shops and eateries are close by as well as bottleshop requirements.

There are many walking tracks around town and several beaches - 1 hour from Cradle Mountain and geographically central on the NW Coast of Tasmania between Burnie and Devonport airports (30mins) - 25 minutes from Spirit of Tasmania terminal.

Mountain bike tracks in the nearby Dial Range extend for 70 kms with magnificent views from Mt Montgomery ( a 40 min hike). Hinterland attractions are the caves at Gunns Plains, the Leven Canyon, wineries, rural farm land, Cradle Mountain and specialty organic farms such as Mt Gnoman Pig Farm.

Beaches are patrolled by life savers during summer and many sporting activities occur all year round due to Penguin's central location.
Our standard rate is $140 per night for the first two people and $30 for extra people per night. ($20 if on weekly rate)
Children less than 6 are free.
Weekly rate is $140 x 7 less 15% = $833.
Monthly rate is $140 x 30 less 30% = $2,940

Top notch

The only bad thing about this stay was that I'd only booked one night! Everything about this accommodation was top notch, the decor, the quantity linen, the extra touches, the fantastic view, the comfy bed & super friendly host. I will definitely have this one in my fav list & hope i get another chance to stay here again. It's a great location if your catching the boat at Deavonport. 👌🏡

Perfect coastal home

This beautiful coastal home exceeded our expectations. Beautifully decorated and fully equipped with everything needed for a night, a week or a month's visit...we could've stayed forever. We loved sitting on the front porch looking at the spectacular view Bass Strait We took a short and scenic walk into the town where we ate at Penguin Beer. The next day we had coffee and lunch in town and explored the shops. Our host Terry was so kind and helpful. Our only regret is that we didn't plan to stay longer here. We arrived to a very nice heated house which was spotless and very welcoming. Once unpack the owner , Terry , arrived to great us and make sure very thing was ok. Very friendly and helpful owner. The house has beach front views and is very roomy with everything we needed for our 4 night stay. It is a 5 minute walk to the shops which has an IGA , bakery, coffeehouse, information shop ,several restaurants and a pub. We had a meal at the pub , great atmosphere and food. Penguin is a great location for day trips to Stanley and the north west part of Tasmania. It is a 30 minute drive to Devonport to catch the Spirit of Tasmania. The owner ,Terry , made our last 4 days in Tasmania perfect with not only his charming house but also his friendly nature. Will be coming back to stay at “ sunrise at penguin “ again Thank you Terry

Gorgeous house in a beautiful location, with outstanding hosts

I cannot speak too highly of Sunrise at Penguin. Right from day 1 when I booked the property, Terry was so helpful and sent great information about the locality. He maintained good communication in the weeks ahead of our arrival, and was available if we needed him to attend to anything once we were in the house. Not that he needed to do much - when we arrived, the house was prepared with everything we needed, and far more than we expected. There is no scrimping on quality at Sunrise at Penguin: the furniture was very comfortable; the kitchen well-stocked; and the cooking equipment of excellent standard. The laundry, too, was well-equipped. The decor was just delightful, with quirky penguins fashioned creatively from various materials placed around the house, which added to the beautiful seaside atmosphere, along with the tasteful paintings. There were even fresh flowers in the lounge, and fruit left for us in the kitchen. The view was just incredible, and the beach is literally over the road. We did not want to leave: Sunrise at Penguin is definitely a place we will return to when we can get back to Tasmania.

Beautiful beach side location

Sunrise at Penguin is situated in a fantastic location opposite the beach and a short walk into the main town centre. The cottage has been tastefully restored, was very clean and had everything we needed for an enjoyable stay. We would definitely recommend a stay here.

Superb property and location!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The property has been meticulously renovated, furnished and beautifully styled in such a way to maximise comfort and relaxation. The property is ideally situated opposite the water and waking up to those beautiful sunrises was fabulous. It's a fantastic home in which to stay and also from which to explore the fabulous North West of Tasmania. We plan to return for a longer stay next time!!

Fantastic getaway

We had a fantastic stay at Terrys house, we look forward to staying again. The house has a sea view and is really well appointed. It is very comfortable and has everything you need. Terry has put alot of thought into making your stay enjoyable. It is a short walk to restaurants. I highly recommend Terry’s house.

We've stayed in many rental homes and I can honestly say that few are as good as Sunrise at Penguin. You walk in the door and it feels like home, not like just another rental. Comfortable, well equipped and well placed for wandering into Penguin, the nicest town on the North Coast

Little Gem in Penguin TAS

Loved it! Contactless check in was a breeze thanks to awesome communication with Terry. He came to welcome us and have a chat which was really nice. View from the lounge room was 2nd to none. Bed was comfy, very comfortable house to stay. Only wish we could have stayed longer.

Gorgeous holiday home with a view to match!

We left Terry's beautiful home yesterday morning. I could not fault it - he has thought of everything. The clothes airer in particular was most welcome! The kitchen was well set up, including complimentary pantry items. The location is perfect for exploring the North West. As it was the low season, we did not expect to see any penguins so we were pleasantly surprised to see a few adult penguins scurrying up the beach directly opposite the house. We all enjoyed watching the sun rise and set each day - the table and chairs out the front of the property are well positioned to do just that. Hopefully we will be able to return on our next visit to Tasmania.

Penguin

This is a lovely property so well located with breathtaking outlook over the sea. Terry is a marvellous host and ensured we were very comfortable etc. Highly recommended as a relaxing and well equipped home in a beautiful little town. We had to cut our stay short as the dreaded virus was making our return to the mainland a bit dicey. Hopefully we can come back some day to spend some more time there. Thanks Terry
