We travel throughout the summer looking for new areas to boat, and by far - our new favorite lake is SML. The place we stayed was excellent for our needs and our boating life. If we could give this place more than 5 stars, we would.
My partner and I loved staying at this cozy spot over Labor Day Weekend. It is right on the water with a great dock, easy access for swimming. We also loved sipping coffee on the deck and enjoying the view in the morning. Host communicated thoroughly and even left a packet with great recommendations for the area. We hope to stay here again!
Very easy check in and out. Great location with private dock. Very close to some of the best fishing the lake has to offer. Overall simple and stress free stay. Highly recommend, especially if you have a boat. Easy access to multiple ramps less than a mile from the cabin. Also plenty of private parking.
A magical sunrise and sunset by the lake. It was peaceful and quiet. The kids enjoyed the board games. The views from the porch is amazing. We were there for a couple of nights due to a wedding. We’re thankful for the popcorn we found as we got in later then excepted. The site is very well maintained. We hope to book there again soon.
Perfect place for a nice lake trip. Clean with plenty of room for everybody. Not a lot of places close by, but plenty to do on the lake without going anywhere. Would definitely book again!
Wonderful little spot right on Smith Mountain Lake. The owners were super responsive. The water heater wasn't working great and they were very easy to communicate with. The neighborhood was nice and easy to find. We saw a lot of wildlife, including some baby birds in one of the potted plants on the awesome porch as well as a mama bear and some cubs nearby!
We had a wonderful time at this lake house! The fishing was great - the private dock was very useful. My two kids (9 & 11) had a wonderful time - there was plenty to entertain them at the house. The kitchen had everything we needed. Enjoyed the deck overlooking the lake.
My only observation is that it is a bit far away from other entertainment (mini golf, etc) for the rainy days but otherwise we will be back!
We were very disappointed in the cabin. It was very cold & very musty when we got there on Thurs. The heaters didn't work either at all or didn't put out much heat @ all. The steps getting into the cabin were very dangerous & steep. No railings at all. The tv needed to have directions. The outside needed lots of work. The doors didn't lock very well at all. Very disappointed in our rental cabin.
First problem was the lock box combo is wrong. We came when it was just getting dark. My wife and I tried the combo multiple time’s still would not unlock. We had to use the emergency key. From what the neighbor was saying the lockbox has been broken for a while and still it’s not fixed
Second problem, bathroom sink was clogged up had to plunge it to get all the hair and everything out of it It’s not quite unclogged, but good enough to get the water to drain maybe some Drano or clean out the pipes in someway
The light switch rheostat for the kitchen light knob is missing
Lastly More than half the solar lights going down to the dock did not work. It’s a little dangerous when trying to navigate at night.
Other than that, we had a fantastic weekend enjoyed everything
