About this property

The Home on the Hill

  • Escape to The Home on the Hill, a rural getaway in Tirau, set on a picturesque farm with stunning countryside views. Just minutes from Tirau’s cafes and shops, it’s also a great base for exploring Hobbiton, Lake Karapiro. Perfect for couples seeking a tranquil escape or families on an adventurous holiday or friends enjoying a staycation. 45 minutes to Hamilton and Tauranga. 20 minutes to hobbiton, 50 mins to Rotorua and 1Hr 20 to Taupo.

    The space
    The 300m2 home sits on a 2500m2 section. The house has amazing views to the east and west- perfect for watching sunrises and sunsets. We have wonderful orchard on the section with multiple fruits - mandarins, oranges, limes, apples, plums and many more. We have a kids playground outside with swings and a slide.

    The section is surrounded by farmland.
    The farm is a dairy farm with cows which will be often seen in the surrounding paddocks.
    Inside the house we have 6 bedrooms - each room can sleep 2 people.

    We have two lounges - one is the tv room where we have a projector screen for watching movies/ tv.

    The home is a minutes drive from tirau and also the Tirau golf course.

    Guest access
    The whole house is yours during your stay. However we ask you to please stay within the section and the driveway. Please do not go into the paddocks or onto the farm tracks.

We had such a great stay at this house! It was super spacious and had a welcoming feel. There were plenty of games and puzzles to keep everyone entertained, which was a nice bonus. The welcome basket was a lovely touch and made us feel right at home. Kate was great with communication - clear instructions and quick to respond if we had any questions. Would definitely recommend and stay again!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. There was some confusion with the directions to the home and lock pad, as I just went off the information that was on the main site including door lock pin (2424tick) & didn’t realise the inbox messages were updated information in the rush of trying to find the info upon arrival. Kate was helpful in getting us there in the end and noted not to use google maps next time! LolThe house was beautifully spaced and the movie room was such a great feature for everyone. The outdoor area was enjoyed by the kiddies morning and night and being gated we could relax too. Would definitely love to come back with all our family to enjoy this home on the hill again.
