We had a wonderful stay. The cabin was lovely, and the hosts could not have been more accommodating. The area is beautiful. If you want to get away and have all the comforts of home in a cabin in the hills. This is your place!
Really enjoyed our stay at this property which is located in a quiet and secluded area. We saw and heard lots of wildlife and the stargazing was phenomenal. Would definitely stay sagain.
This place is so cute, clean, and in the center of nature - it's absolutely wonderful. The drives to and from the towns were beyond breathtaking too. What a wonderful place to soak in the environment and to unplug from the reality of life.
Would highly recommend this place! The owners are wonderful too.
Cabin and property are beautiful, we Loved our stay there, wish we had booked it for a couple days longer as we ended up staying in Sturgis for 2 nights at a motel that wasn't nice at all. We're hoping to book it for next year again but for 11 or 12 days.
So cozy, loved the view, the animals, the seclusion it was all wonderful.
One of the best locations to enjoy the beautiful and tranquil views with all the 5 star amenities.
Wish we could have stayed longer.
The owners are welcoming and hospitable.
Highly recommended… you will be happy!
The property is what you'd see in a magazine, very peaceful and beautiful. The owner's are top notch people and make you feel very welcomed. Our kids didn't want to leave at all! We'll be back.
The cabin was perfect. Every little detail was thought of. Hosts were way above 5 stars!! You won’t be disappointed with this cabin. Loved our time there. Love the ATV trails. Thanks Margaret and Derito.
Margaret and Derito made our stay a delight. Their comfortable and well decorated cabin was just as advertised. Our hosts went out of their way to ensure our every need was met and we lacked for nothing right down to the welcoming bottle of wine and a most decadent chocolate dessert made by Margaret. We stayed for six days while we explored all that the So Dakota Black Hills has to offer … a truly memorable vacation spot.
We had an amazing experience at Misty Haven cabin. Derito and Margaret were thoughtful and generous hosts. Our every need was anticipated and cared for, from the bottle of wine and the welcome sign to help with our luggage upon leaving. The cabin was spotless and beautifully decorated. The property was beautiful, quiet and serene. Everything exceeded our expectations.
The cabin was relaxing and inviting with beautiful scenery and nature abound. You will shed any degree of stress almost as soon as you arrive. Derito (delightful host) greeted us as soon as we pulled up with great tips on restaurants and road adventures with beautiful scenery. SD is a gorgeous state and we couldn't have picked a better place to stay. There are so many nice people in Nemo and surrounding area. Thank you Margaret and Derito for your genuine kindness and for your hard work making your beautiful cabin available to folks like us :)
Quiet, secluded, refreshing natural setting that adds to exploring the vicinity. We stayed a week in early May (with some very diverse weather conditions - including snow) and we were well please with this cottage as our home base. Felt at home from beginning to end. Able to do all day trips planned and have a few days just being relaxed on site. We found everything needed to support cooking nightly dinners. Very fresh and new feeling conitions. Hosts are wonderful and very responsive.
This property was just perfect. My wife and I got away on an anniversary trip. The cabin was comfortable, clean and even better in person than it looked in the pictures. It is perfectly located. We used it as a base from which we visited everything we wanted to see (the Badlands, Devil’s Tower, Mt Rushmore, Wind Cave, etc). The owners are amazing. They were accommodating and welcoming and checked in to make sure we didn’t need anything. Meeting them was one of the highlights is the trip. We can not say enough about how much we enjoyed our stay here.
Hosts are not on site but close. They came by the house to introduce themselves and see if we needed anything and even brought us a delicious dessert! We saw birds, a bull elk, mountain lion , deer and heard coyotes in the distance all from the deck! Would definitely recommend staying here and if we are ever back in SD, would look at this property's availability first.
Not a large home, but has everything you need to recharge. Margaret stopped by briefly to introduce herself, and deliver a delicious gift, which is not something you typically run into - especially one made personally by the owner.
The house and property are in top notch condition - clean and well cared for. The view from the front deck is amazing! I don't think there is a "bad" view - just more or less distance. It is definitely out of the way, which is exactly what I was looking for. The black hills are a special place and this property fits right in.
I hope to visit here again!
If you are looking for a peaceful, cozy, clean place with beautiful views then this is the place! I have rented many places before and this was just amazing…better than the photos! The cabin was spotless, bed and furniture was comfortable and the place had everything we needed! We enjoyed the freshly ground coffee (provided by hosts) on the front patio every morning.
The location was central to all the attractions we wanted to see, however due to construction it took a little longer to get to certain areas, we took our side by side and explored the trails which were easy to access and the views from the cliffs were so cool!
Margaret and Derito were absolutely delightful and brought us some tiramisu that was to die for. They invited us to hang out by the pond and watch the trout and have a drink. I could have chatted with them all night!
If you are looking to be immersed in beautiful, peaceful surroundings that are cared for by top-notch hosts who want you to have a good stay and will offer you unobtrusive, but incredible hospitality, then this is the place for you! We have stayed in at least seven different Black Hills accommodations over the years, and would highly recommend Misty Haven.
On this trip, we had a rare opportunity to travel with our adult son who bases out of NYC. Our top priority was simply to relax and spend time together. As three adults, we felt we had plenty of space in the clean and well-appointed cabin. We were also provided the option of a new easy-to-inflate queen mattress which was a comfortable option for our son to sleep on. Since we didn't have to deal with opening or closing a sofa-bed, we had the added benefit of simply spending time in the living area, reading over coffee in the morning and playing a game in the evening.
We also enjoyed the many outdoor aspects of this property. We grilled/ate on the patio, chatted by the fire, fished in the host's trout pond, listened to the birds, rested in the hammock, walked on the gravel road while viewing wildflowers, and took in the starry night sky.
You will feel at home-- and yet transported to a haven-- whether you just want to hang out together or you have plans to be active in the scenic Black Hills. Go ahead and book the cabin!
We came to SD for the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally. I have stayed at a lot of VRBOs and this place was by far the best! Margaret and Dorito were the best hosts. They obviously take great pride in their property and really take care of all the details. The cabin had everything we needed. EVERYTHING. The cabin was clean, organized and has a beautiful view! From the warm welcome on the table with the little vase of wildflowers when we arrived to the attentiveness when we had questions and just all around friendliness. Margaret made us tiramisu from scratch that was hands down the best we have ever had! They brought us fresh veggies from their garden. We just can’t say enough good things about our stay here. The view was beautiful and there were deer in the clearing most evenings. And after dark you can hear the coyotes in the hills. There are bird feeders so you can sit on the deck and watch the birds and a nice fire pit to sit by in the evening. Being there for the rally we were a little nervous about the gravel but it turned out to not be a big deal at all. It really made us feel like we were coming back to relax after a long day of riding. Thank you so much Margaret and Dorito for everything. We’ll be back and definitely recommend your place!
We loved our stay, it was so nice and quiet and the scenery was beautiful. The host and hostess were so nice. Would recommend it to anyone that loves to be out in mother nature.
Wonderful rental!! All new interior and VERY clean!!! Everything you could possibly need! Awesome owners who shared produce from their garden and a delicious desert on the night before our departure!! We will definitely be back!!
This place has it all.. Cozy getaway, Back yard UTV trails, hiking trails, and wild life. Close by to town and tourist attractions, but far enough away to get away from people and the hustle and bustle. Absolutely a gem in the Hills.
This place is awesome! We stayed for 6 days and couldnt have asked for a better place. The owners are so nice and welcoming. We will be staying here in the future!
