The Casita at Madrona Ranch sits on 14 acres outside Pipe Creek, about fifteen minutes from both Bandera and Boerne, with Fredericksburg and Kerrville an easy day trip. The ranch has a lake and Red Bluff Creek, shared with one other cabin, and wildlife is everywhere.



It is one warm, inviting room with wood accents, a king bed and a trundle that makes two twins or another king. The kitchenette has a mini-fridge, a microwave, a two-burner cooktop, a drip coffee maker and a Keurig. Wi-Fi is fast enough to work from, the air conditioning runs cold, there is satellite TV with a DVD player and good cell signal, and the bedding is comfortable.



Outside are the private hot tub, a large fire pit, a charcoal grill, a porch swing and patio furniture facing the hills. Guests spend hours skipping rocks, watching deer and rabbits, and walking the property. The hosts live on the ranch and are known for making guests feel like old friends.

What's hard to beat at the Madrona Ranch Casita is the hot tub: you sit in it looking out over the lake, with deer moving through the trees around you. Bring a rod, too. The fishing is good.
