Pine Cottage at Heron Ledge

Heron Ledge Cottages are nestled on the shore of Lake Champlain across from historic Valcour Island. The cottage shown on this listing is known as 'Pine Cottage'. It is closest to the water and has the 'best porch' on the property. This cottage compound is ideal for quiet stays, romantic getaways and nature-filled family vacations. The lake is situated between the NY Adirondack and the VT Green Mountains. We are very close to Snug Harbor Marina - Lake Champlain Boatworks and the NYS Peru Boat Launch. The cottage is freshly furnished with a fully-equipped kitchen. Cable TV, DVD player, linens and wireless internet are provided. Opportunities for sight-seeing and sport activities abound. We have hosted bass tournament winners. Stay for a week or get-away weekend (3 night minimum stays with higher nightly rates for shorter stays). The owner does provide 3 kayaks, 1 paddle boat and 1 canoe for guest use. There are life vests in the shed near the river, but we urge guest who paddle often to bring their own life vest as maximum comfort while kayaking can be achieved with a properly sized life vest. This is a non-smoking property. Max 2 adults and 2 kids. Pets are allowed with approval from the management.

Nearby activities: 3 golf courses; Ausable Chasm; Ferry to Vermont; Shelburne Museum; Ben and Jerry's; Vermont Teddy Bear Factory; Montreal, Canada; Skiing and Rock/Ice Climbing, Adirondack High Peaks; Hiking, Bicycling, Kayaking, Autumn leaf-peeping and fun at the site of two Winter Olympics in Lake Placid, NY.


Bass Tournament Hosts: Bass fishermen like the property because their equipment is kept private and safe. Bass boats can be attached to power and worked on under spot lights after dark if needed. One winning fisherman said that he liked the quiet so that he could concentrate better on his fishing gear and strategy.

Skiing: We are a 45 minute easy drive to Whiteface Mountain. Ski mountains in Vermont and Canada are about 2 hours away.
Cross-country skiing can be done near our property, on Lake Champlain when it is frozen, or at cross-country ski centers
in Lake Placid.

Hiking and Bicycling: People love to go to the different Adirondack High Peaks and then return to lakeside after the hikes.
Others bicycle all around the NY area near us, with some taking their bikes on the ferries to Vermont Islands or mainland
and returning via a different ferry later in the day.

Perfect Lakeside Getaway!
Our family of four truly enjoyed relaxing by the lake taking in all the tranquil sights and sounds. Our weekend was filled with kayaking, floating and fishing… just a short ride away from the spectacular Ausable Chasm. Not doubt we’ll be looking to return

Love the lake
Beautiful views, owner was very friendly. There could have been a little more attention to detail. It would have been nice if the cottage had been aired out and air conditioners turned on prior to our arrival. We didn’t use the pull out because there appeared to be urine stains on the mattress cover. We ended up borrowing an inflatable mattress from a relative. Unfortunately the gas grill was so dirty we decided not to attempt cooking on it. Despite these short comings we enjoyed our stay. These little issues would be easy to fix.

We stayed at the cabin the week of October 9. It's a cute little cabin and everything we needed was already stocked. Wonderful view of the lake from the deck or the large living room window. They have a nice fire pit area - which was a big hit when our grandkids stopped to visit.

We loved this property! Clean, functional and a beautiful view of the lake! There are a few other rentals on this property that would be perfect for a family reunion/vacation.

Nice, but two problems: 1. Furnace had to be repaired disturbing an afternoon's rest; 2. There is a 10AM check-out (with $100 penalty) which is not clearly specified before booking.

Peaceful lakeside cottage
Very much enjoyed our stay. Lovely deck with rocking chairs to enjoy beautiful Lake Champlain. Cottage was clean and had everything you would need. Bed was comfortable and nice to have a washer and dryer to utilize.

PINE COTTAGE REVIEW
MY HUSBAND AND I LOVED THE VIEW AND QUIET. TEMPERATURE LIMITED OUR OUTSIDE ACTIVITIES BUT THE GREAT VIEW INSIDE THE CABIN MADE UP FOR IT. THE ONLY ISSUE WE HAD WAS WE HAD TO RESET THE HEAT A FEW TIMES BUT THAT WAS CERTAINLY DOABLE. I WOULD DEFINITELY STAY AGAIN IF GIVING THE OPPORTUNITY. THANK YOU!!
