Terrific views of the Lake from the Room, Pool and dining room. A great place to relax after a hectic day of travel or sightseeing. The rooms are modern and clean. Staff are friendly and informed. The hotel is a bit too far from town to easily walk. However, the restaurant is good.
The best is the spectacular view and this unbatable touch of nature . This is the best resort hotel that captures the most beautiful scenary of the Parakrama Samudra. The staff is super friendly , goes beyond a help , to give the guests a homely feel , security , safelty , love and affction of a family. Randika and his fellow staff members are very helpful and always takes care of their guests all the time. We would love to visit again and again to this place. The building seems to be pretty old but as guests who are in love with ancient things , it was just perfect for us. Walks towards the lake , witnessing wild elephants in a very clise vicinity , all were bew exereinces to us. Thank you "The Lake" hotel (also known as Echo Lake , The Lake , Seruva) , we will visit you soon again before your refurbishment.
The hotel isn't the swankiest but it's in a lovely location next to the lake and grazing land, with panoramic vistas. Our visit coincided with a group booking of Sri Lankan hotel staff who were treated to an evening of live and very loud music, from which there was no escape - but this is an unusual occurrence. Normally it would be a nice, quiet sanctuary away from the hubbub of Polunnaruwa but still only a short distance from the historic sites.
Service very good but was disappointed by the upstairs room having no balcony. Better to be on the ground floor.
View of the lake at sunset fabulous. Sadly no elephants when we were there.
Also the pool was closed and had been for about two weeks. This seemed to be because the hotel was quiet as when we left a large party arrived and they were cleaning the pool.
Sehr freundliches Personal, gute Küche, tolle Lage

Everything okay
Hotel is a little bit old and needs renovation. Pool was out of use and rooms were a little bit worn out. Staff was friendly and the scenery is beautiful. Toilets and shower were clean. For 21€ it was okay. Wouldnt pay full price.
AMAZING! Nice hotel with plenty of staff. Food and drinks were good. Best part was the pool overlooking the lake and the elephants that came up 5 meters away from us on two separate occasions to feed. A walk or short tuk tuk away from ruins, hotel help us arrange bicycles for the day to see the ruins.
The view of the lake is what made this place special. From the room, the pool ,and the restaurant the views was fantastic. The menu in the restaurant was a little limited but overall it was a great stay

We booked two rooms 12th April 2018 and on arrival we were given rooms 105 and 112 requested and got two adjoining rooms upstairs (218 & 219).
From the minute we got out of the vehicle to the minute we left, we had to lug around our bag
Dinner time, the situation got funnier. We were vegetarian and requested an a-la-carte option of fried rice instead of going for the buffet. At first we were refused and after much debating and back-and-forth with the kitchen, they agreed to give us some. Then for dessert, we requested fruit salad with ice cream, at which point they took the order and promptly returned with the menu and told us we would have to order fruits and ice cream as separate and then create our own fruit salad with ice cream. We ended up having to forego dessert.
That night my wife and daughter were given a rousing welcome by bed bugs running all over their beds and even biting them. Unfortunately we haven’t got a video to show but the bugs were sprawled all over the pillow and bed linen. After somehow spending the night, uncomfortably in one room with my son sleeping on the floor, I brought up the issue at the reception upon checkout next day 7.30am and wanted to speak to the manager and he gave instructions to the receptionist over the phone to refund the money what we have to pay for dinner as he is unable to come down to speak to us. Absolutely horrendous stay, terrible customer service, zero guest satisfaction
Worst experience ever. Please DON'T GO to The Lake hotel if you don't want to waste your hard earned money.Give it to charity instead. They ruined my day. Checked in 3:30 pm but they were unable to find a room with a proper Air-con till pm. All air conditions were overheated, not maintained or broken, my 2 yrs old was crying because the heated rooms.Technician was helpless,They were forced to stay near my room door and pore water to the compressor for the whole night. Manager was friendly, but powerless or tried to cover the staff and the hotel. He agreed about their faults and suggested to move to another nearby new hotel owned by them. But asked to pay the excess fees. Refund request was refused. If you are visiting from Europe or Australia, don't expect the same standards over there. Entire hotel is very dirty, full of smells, many cockroaches,TV has no working channels, Toilet seat cover was small and slipped out from the toilet, Full of spiders and Mosquitoes every corner of the room. Locks were broken, tower curtains was very old and not good condition.Floor tiles in the shower is broken and insects were coming out from the hole.I had to ask for the welcome drink and a porter. They asked me to go and check the air con of every rooms, which is not my job. That main photo in the hotel ad is fake, Its just a very old biding near the lake and i saw lots of mosquito eggs in the Pool and windows. We were in B&B but had it outside because the dining area was full of spider nets.
It was dirty. It was advertised as having WiFi but when we got there we were told there was only WiFi in the reception area. Fridge did not work. TV had very bad signal and hardly any channels. Worst thing of all was the toilet, it made this awful grinding noise every time you flushed it. We complained but they did nothing. Food at the buffet was disgusting. The staff didn’t seem to care and could hardly speak English. The worst hotel ever.

Schöne Aussicht vom der Terasse. Schöner Pool.
Für eine Übernachtung ok. Die Zimmer bieten wenig Komfort. Das Essen ist gut, wird aber lieblos serviert.
