"We stayed in Cottage 1. It is brand new with very nice decor, a kitchen and large bathroom. The sofa converts to a bed, which gave our teenager her own space. The setting is remote and peaceful, and close to many waterfalls."

"While the area doesn't have a lot of accommodations to choose from, staying at Lava Guesthouse was a great fit for us. The location is great for the downtown walking area, and is walkable from the ferry. If you do bring a car over, there was plenty of available street parking in front of or around the block. The room was as photographed. The shared bathrooms are small, two exist with showers and another is just a toilet. As long as you aren't trying to get ready at the same time as other guests, it's not a problem. We visited in July and it doesn't really get dark. It would have been nice to have better light-blocking curtains or sleep masks provided to keep the light out, but it was an issue easily solved for my partner by having him sleep with a towel over his eyes. Note most rooms are upstairs. We didn't use the kitchen but it did appear well stocked if you were staying multiple days and wanting to keep food costs down. The house asks that you remove your shoes just inside the main door, so that could be an issue for some people but it meant you didn't have as much noise from other guests walking around the hallways."

"We stayed at 6 different places during our Iceland trip, and this was our favorite! The room was clean and spacious. Nice blackout curtains. The kitchen was small but functional. The "strange guy" chef offered delicious cakes for the guests, and there was also an option to dine in. We opted to bring our own food, but the dinner prepared at the guesthouse smelled so good! Breakfast was great too! Plenty of bathrooms. The best part about this place was the host! He was so friendly and upbeat! He obviously loves what he does. We felt very much welcomed. The waterfalls behind the guesthouse was beautiful."

"Loved the location of the cottages. So nice to sit on the couch and see a 180 view of the serene grounds. If there is more than 2 people, I would recommend getting 2 cabins. The bathroom is so petite and the upstairs small with steep stairs, I could not imagine more than 2 people in these cabins. That said though, they are really a fun place to stay. "

"Its a dairy farm guesthouse. We stay here for two nights. The lady who greeted at us was ver friendly. She tour us around the farm and let us see the baby cows and seeing how they milking the cow. Very lovely experience. "
