The Space:
This rustic cabin features a lower level with small living/dining area, kitchen, bathroom and shower. There is no electricity in the cabin but all appliances (oven and refrigerator) and lights are powered via propane. Amazing views of the Strait right from your bed!
Stay cozy and warm with 2 heating stoves. One is wood burning stove (bring your own wood to burn). The other option is a thermostat controlled propane fireplace heats the cabin well, no wood required. You can use which ever source of heat you prefer, we do not however, provide firewood for the wood burning stove. Bring your own wood or purchase bundles on site.

* Lights are very minimal. Making for a beautiful night sky’s. :) Stars galore! If you plan to arrive after dark be sure to follow the directions we give precisely and ask if you any questions at all. I’d bring a flash light along as well for getting settled in your cabin.

We had a great stay in the Halibut Hole cabin. The cabin is cozy and rustic, but still comfortable and clean. Waking up to a beautiful view of the sunrise and the sound of waves lapping right outside the cabin made this a uniquely wonderful stay.
We were only able to stay 2 nights but could've spent much longer just sitting watching the tides come in and out, the beautiful sunsets, and the sound of the fire crackling. The accommodations are simple but much more than adequate. Wouldn't change a thing.
Easy check-in, great directions getting to the cabin with clearly labeled cabins, great suggestion booklet inside the cabin with clear checkout instructions, and free firewood with an ax and chopping block attached to the cabin!!!

It was a little difficult to find at dusk on a rainy night. Very rustic, but the views were awesome. It would have been nice to know ahead that there were no amenities, ie coffee tea
We loved this cabin. It was so cozy and the decor was so fun! Lots of great small touches. The view was amazing, it was clean and well stocked. The sound of the water while sleeping was great. Both beds very comfortable. Could walk along the beach at low tide.
Had a little confusion because emails with access codes were in junk folder and didn’t have much service in days leading up to our stay, so keep an eye out for an email if you book through here - would help if sent through vrbo. Overall, wish we could have stayed longer!
We had a wonderful stay at the Halibut Hole and would highly recommend it. If you enjoy some quiet time, this is the place for you. Keep in mind that you’ll have no TV and you’ll need to use the wood stove for heat (supplies were all there in the cabin) so it really gives you that sense of getting back to basics. All the amenities were there including all the dishes we needed and the downstairs bed was comfy and cozy. My only observation is that it would have been nice to have a brighter light for the kitchen, as the propane lantern was charming and worked fine, but not very effective. Also, might have been nice to have some board games or cards to play. Just suggestions and, to be clear, the cabin did have good WiFi and electric lights elsewhere. It was a great location for day trips into the park and sitting outside next to the private fire pit we saw sea lions, dolphins, a great blue heron, and tons of seabirds. Bring your binoculars! We didn’t use the queen bed in the loft and I think that space is geared more for kids as an adult couldn’t stand upright upstairs and would have to climb a rustic/steep staircase in the night to use the bathroom. LOL! The bathroom was nice and had a walk in shower with good hot water and towels. All in all, cozy, comfortable and a view that you wished you could have all the time!
This was exactly what I hoped for, a peaceful retreat right on the water. There were lots of little things I did not expect like a French press for coffee and cooking pans. I did not even notice that everything is run by propane. All the fixtures are the best of best and the wood stove was a nice touch too!
We loved the rustic-ness of the cabin and its proximity to the water. There was a half-full soda can upstairs when we arrived and several slivers of soap from previous guests were left in the shower area. The upstairs loft had a hole in the window (natural A/C!). We scrunched up a plastic bag and filled the hole. The location was quite remote. Still, it was our favorite place we stayed (of 3) while we were visiting the PNW.
We had a truly lovely stay at Halibut Hole - we enjoyed nights by the fire, listening to the surf @ high tide (and the birds during low tide), and watching eagles & seals play in the surf. Gorgeous sunset eclipsed by even more stunning sunrise. Bathroom was very nice & kitchen well equipped. Can’t wait to come back!
The national park happened to be closed due to road closure after a storm passed, so we went and explored the cabin. A very romantic place if you know how to survive with some camping experience. As I learned the wood stove needs to be stuffed with wood and then shut closed with just the air vent open to keep the heat going through the night. It was a lot of fun and such a cool experience, definitely will be coming back, maybe when it's a little warmer.
Quaint & rustic cabin with amazing oceanic views that bring rhythmic waves at night and fun exploration of the low tide in the morning. Light level is minimal at night with candles & matches provided, along with logs & a fire pit which we used and loved (bring some self starters for the fire pit!). There were two electrical outlets to power devices, etc., as well, which was very much appreciated. Extremely therapeutic and relaxing in a secluded setting.
My husband and I went to the Halibut Hole cabin for a long weekend for our birthdays. We loved our stay! The cabin is full of rustic charm but also recently had some electricity installed so we were able to charge our phones and turn on the lamp they provide. There was also a new water heater that worked great. The location was perfect for us- we were able to wake up to the waves, go out exploring during the day and return for a relaxing evening by candlelight. We will definitely be back!
