Spend some time admiring the yachts of the rich and famous before heading out for a classic dose of Ibiza nightlife on the Mediterranean.

In the summer, there’s no better place to be than the Port of Ibiza, which throngs with international visitors disembarking from yachts and people hopping between the famous clubs and bars of the district. Originally built in the 17th century under the Charter of Juan Ponce, the port has been recently upgraded to accommodate the luxury ships that descend on this tiny island throughout the summer months. Spend the day admiring the boats then return at night for a taste of what makes Ibiza so famous.

In the morning, head to the port to enjoy a coffee and an ensaimada, a local croissant-like pastry filled with cream, chocolate or sweet pumpkin, while walking along the quays. Spot the boats coming in from their overnight journeys and mooring alongside the historic buildings of Ibiza’s old town.

Relax on a terrace and soak in the relaxed ambience, full of Spanish hospitality. Spot the newest and best in yacht technology in the 1,400 moorings with room for pleasure crafts galore. Take a ferry from here for an adventure on Formentera or Mallorca.

Return in the evening, when everything gets lit up. Go celebrity-spotting amidst the crowds that make their way from hot spot to hot spot. Dance the night away in one of the clubs, or relax with a glass of sangria and a plate of paella in the waterside restaurants that come alive once the sun goes down.

Catch the strains of music coming from the yacht parties, or participate by renting a boat of your own and bringing your friends on board for an unforgettable night.

The Port of Ibiza is found on the southern side of the bay, a 2-minute walk from the center of Ibiza’s Old Town. Take a bus there from the airport in 30 minutes, or drive in 15. Parking is available in some nearby metered parking garages, though they can get expensive. Otherwise, park on the outskirts of town and walk in. The port comes alive at night, though most of the cafés and restaurants are open throughout the day.
