Beautiful 1910 Victorian Home

  • A beautiful 1910 Victorian Home located on the Interurban Trail, the perfect place for a family or group of friends. We have a large backyard with onsite parking. Guests have access to a fully stocked kitchen, laundry room and large dining area. The Bailey Bike & Bed Inn is tastefully decorated with a mix of antiques and modern amenities. We have a fondness for old movies and bicycles so you may notice a theme. We encourage guests to relax and enjoy the charm of the house and each others company, so you will not find a T.V. in the house or A/C. Plenty of board games are provided and WiFi is available throughout the home. We are located 3 blocks from the Port Washington Marina and downtown area with award winning shops and restaurants. The Interurban Trail is easily accessible from our backyard and runs 37 miles North and South.

Overall, our stay was disappointing due to several issues that could have been handled much betterThe home appears to be an older, historic property, which has a lot of charm. However, it was not well maintained when it came to pest control. We encountered an excessive number of spiders and other bugs throughout our stay, making it difficult to relax and feel comfortable.Communication from the host was also lacking. Responses to our concerns were delayed, and there was little sense of urgency in addressing the problems we reported. In addition, workers arrived at the property during our stay without us being informed ahead of time. It was unsettling to have people coming to the house unexpectedly, and a simple courtesy message would have gone a long way.The amenities were very basic and did not meet the expectations set by the listing or the price of the rental. While we understand that older homes have unique characteristics, basic maintenance, communication, and guest comfort should still be priorities.Perhaps most disappointing was that, despite the inconveniences we experienced, the host never acknowledged the impact on our stay or offered any form of compensation or goodwill gesture.This property has potential because of its historic character, but significant improvements in cleanliness, pest control, communication, and guest service are needed before we could recommend it to others.

We loved the location -- just a few blocks from the port, shops, ice cream, brewery, South Beach, bike paths. Love the walkability of Port Washington. We enjoyed exploring area hiking and beaches like Lion's Den Gorge, Harrington State Park, Kohler Andre State Park. The house was beautiful and clean. Very comfortable for our group of six adults. The kitchen had plenty of cooking pots and utensils for making meals. Our favorite was the wide front porch with comfy chairs and swing. Thank you for hosting our family gathering.

Beautiful home, everything we wanted to see was close. The only drawback for the months of July and August would be the lack of air conditioning. Would I rent this house again? Yes, in a hart beat. Perfect for spring, fall and winter.

Property was very clean and as presented online. Front porch was under repair during our stay, although the weather wasn't conducive to spending time outside anyway. The final step down off the front steps was short and could cause problems for the elderly if not careful. Otherwise, for an older home, it was in great shape!

This is a beautiful property that has very nice quality amenities...nicer kitchenware than I have at home! Good quality appliances as well. Nice yard for yard games, patio, firepit (s'mores!), and gazebo all perfect for our bunch...we love the outdoors. Had a deer visit that really intrigued our little ones. The property is also close to a nice beach, restaurants and shopping!There were a handful of things that required maintenance which, if had been reported and addressed before our stay, it would have made the stay perfect.Host was very responsive and professional. We would definitely stay here again!

Yard games and deer watch. Our littles LOVED seeing the young deer...us older ones enjoyed the unique croquet course set up.
We were here during the hot, humid days of July and this was the quickest way to lower our body temps fast!! But everyone was still smiling.

Beautiful location, but noisy from the traffic. When we arrive, the air conditioning wasn’t turned on. It was about 80 when we walked in and we took us a long time to figure it out to get the house cooled down. The icemaker was not working, no garbage bags, no dish scrubber to clean the pots, no bar soap provided for the shower and we ran out of dishwasher soap,

Stepping back in time

Our family loved meeting at the Bailey House for Christmas. It was a winter wonderland with about a foot of snow on the ground upon arrival. Half of our group is from S Louisiana so that was a treat. The weather turned out to be very rainy for the remainder of our stay, so having a warm, spacious, beautiful and very stocked house made our family time so enjoyable and comfortable Indoors. I want to compliment the decor of this home. Antique furniture in all their rooms, it was such a pleasure to just connect with its history. It was perfect for our group size, each couple having their own private bathroom. Kitchen was Well stocked and we had no difficulty preparing a delicious Christmas dinner, using many of homes beautiful serving pieces and glassware. House is located just a couple blocks from the downtown Port Washington harbor with shops, dining also. We would definitely chose this location again.

Beautiful house

This is our second time to rent the Bailey House. It’s a great house with lots of charm! Close to restaurants and Cedarburg, where our family loves to shop. We hope to rent this home again next year. Highly recommend!

Comfortable and Quiet

Stayed for a weekend with girlfriends, and we enjoyed being so close to downtown shopping, dining, and lakefront while in a very quiet home. Beds were comfortable, bathrooms luxurios, and the home well-appointed. When we woke to a chirping smoke alarm, property manager responded immediately. Loved the selection of games, and appreciated a weekend of social time away from screens. Thanks for sharing this beautiful home with us!

Weekend Wedding

We rented this property as a base for our weekend wedding. It worked out perfectly location wise and also the layout of the house provided everyone their own bedroom and bathroom. We enjoyed the spaciousness of the house as well as the outside area. Lots of wildlife around so it was entertaining to all that stayed there. Short walk to downtown which we enjoyed.

Another wonderful stay

This is our second time staying at the Bailey House. We choose it again because of its location and could accomodate our family. Easy to walk downtown, the port and to get to the trail. The family likes that every bedroom has a bathroom. The host was very easy to work with and got a pac n play for the 2 year to sleep in. It was another great visit

Beautiful House, Perfect for a Large Family!!

Great House. It’s called the Bailey house after ‘It’s a Wonderful Life’. And it fits. Stocked with lots of games and big gathering spaces both inside and out! Walking distance to the marina.
