  • The California Condor was a common sight along the Columbia River in Lewis and Clark's day. By the early 1980's, there were only twenty-two left on the face of the planet, all in California. Today, thanks to a massive effort to re-populate the species via in-captivity pairing, there are some two-hundred members. But their recovery is far from assured. The Oregon Zoo has undertaken its own recovery effort whose ultimate goal is the re-introduction of the species into the protected wilderness area around the Columbia River Gorge. In short, to bring them home. For now, they live out their days in a vast, outdoor aviary designed specifically to mimic their habitat in the wild. If you have never seen one up close before, I urge you to come take a look. They are larger than any flying bird you will ever see, unless you go to Peru. And though black and white practically from head to toe, their plumage shines and reflects the light like dark, polished metal. If that doesn't suit your fancy, I will tell you that, as with all big birds, if you wait around long enough, they will do something so awe-inspiring that it will take your breath away, and something so goofy that you will laugh out loud. The Hotel owners were very helpful . Clean room. Air conditioning was a good 😌 It’s just a bit of a pity that swimming pool and hot tub don’t work.

The management was so nice to let us check in early to get ready for the wedding event. The room was cleaned early for us and was sufficient. The only negative was the room smelled of tobacco smoke really bad. Overall for the price of the room and the management being so flexible and accommodating to our needs, I would rate them a 3 1/2 out of 5.

Room smelled stale and of old smoke. Permanent stains in bathroom sink wash basin. Blackout curtains difficult to get exactly covering entire window. Bed comfortable and shower pressure excellent.

Room was clean & spacious. Bed very comfortable. Convenient location. The main issue was that our room (102) was only separated from 101 by a hollow core door, under which light shone through and through which everything could be heard as clearly as though in the same room. Occupants of room 101 threw a party until ~2 a.m., making it completely impossible to sleep. Other than only getting about 4 1/2 hours of sleep, the room would have been fine for the price.

Nice staff. Responded quickly to our light not working. Nice pool. Said no smoking but rooms had definitely been smoked in, you smelled it as soon as you walked in. Clean enough but these rooms need work!

In all fairness, I believe this property was RECENTLY sold. The 2 rooms we visited were both unfinished. Outlets uncovered. Paint was atrocious, unprofessional. NO top sheets on beds. NO residential services. Bath mat dirty. Proximity to Oregon City was convenient. Staff we met was very friendly.
