This is not an apartment in Portobelo like the map indicates. It's a house about a mile outside of town and it's a bit rundown. The AC can't keep up with the heat and the entire house has a slight musty smell. I left 2 weeks ago and I still can't get the musty smell out of my CPAP machine. We left early after only 2 nights because the house was so hot and and uncomfortable. The host was great. Very friendly and responsive and he provided great information on local attractions, but he was unwilling to issue a refund for our early departure.

All of it! Gabriel is a marvelous host; absolutely above and beyond. The house is lovely, very unique, and the location, right on the water, superb. We'll be back!

Misinformation

The furnishings are worn. The second bedroom is only suitable for small children. The house is only a few metres from a busy main road with noisy traffic. The beach is unattractive. The water is too shallow for swimming. And the house is NOT in the “historic centre” of Portobelo, which is several kilometres away and consists of the ruins of a fort and a church. We were so disappointed we left after one night.

Excelente lugar. Esta a pocos pasos de la playa y el apartamento estaba limpio y en muy buenas condiciones.Gabriel nos atendio muy bien y nos dio los telefonos de los señores de la lancha que nos vino a buscar hasta la propia casa.Si hubiera sabido que era tan bonito me habria quedado mas tiempo.Sera la proxima con seguridad.
