Breathtaking Views - Private Home - Beautifully Landscaped - Walk to the Beach

  • Located on the "gold coast of Costa Rica" directly above two of the most beautiful
    beaches in the country. This is a private home, sitting 200 feet above the beach on two acres with beautiful landscaping filled with wildlife, trees, flowers and spectacular views.

    Hear the roar of the surf, listen to the monkeys in the mangrove below or sing along with the birds in the trees... this the best of all worlds. Whether you choose to take a quick walk to the two beaches (a few minutes on foot, literally 300 paces from the house!) or drive to one of the many beaches located down the road (a few minutes by car), this property is a perfect to retreat and relax.

    Playa Prieta sits directly below our house and has large shaded areas on the beach with bigger, crashing waves. Playa Penca can easily be accessed from a footpath on the road to Prieta, and is known for its soft waves, boogie boarding and great family gathering place. Or you can relax in our private pool with a cabana for shade during the day.

    The house has 3000 square feet of well-appointed living space. Perfect for entertaining the family or for some well-deserved quiet time, this property guarantees a wonderful relaxing vacation. All bedrooms and living room feature banks of floor-to-ceiling windows, furniture, and an interior designed for comfort and relaxation.

    The sunsets are beyond description - especially from the terrace. Not only does that expansive terrace offers a lovely place to read, chat, or dine - it also the perfect place to gather for a spectacular panoramic sunset.

    Our gardener/caretaker lives on site because the property requires constant tending and trimming; and a housekeeper appears 6 days a week to do your laundry and straighten up the house. The property is fenced and gated, with similar properties alongside it - very quiet and secure.

    Close to market for those who prefer to cook or close many restaurants if you prefer to dine out.

Wonderful week

We had a great week at this house overlooking the ocean. A couple of minor issues that were addressed very quickly by the property manager (eg new hot water heater installed). The location is fantastic and the view is great. The onsite caretakers were wonderful, cleaning the pool, making beds, doing laundry and dishes. We really enjoyed our stay.

Absolutely dreamy. Costa Rican perfection. Second time here. Ernesto and Ana (caretaker and house cleaner) are wonderful, helpful and lovely. Mindy (host) is super responsive and goes above and beyond. This place is perfection. Right mix of everything you need to feel pampered, while feeling laid back and casual. You feel like you’re in luxury, without feeling nervous the kids are going to break something. The walk to the beaches is dreamy. And the beaches themselves are perfection. It’s starting to feel like our home away from home.

Glorious!

We spent a week enjoying sunsets in the Nosara area, but this was even better - truly spectacular! We loved hanging out by the pool with the beautiful flora and fauna. Both Playa Penca and Playa Prieta are lovely, and the snorkeling at Playa Prieta was amazing! We loved walking to Reparito House for breakfast. And Ana Maria definitely deserves a shout out!

Wonderful Stay in Potrero

Our family of four truly enjoyed our stay here. Although the main area was not air conditioned, there were plenty of ceiling fans even on the wrap around porch. We never felt uncomfortable. We heard the howler monkeys everyday and even saw them on the last night. There are so many beaches in the area. I wish we could have stayed longer to see even more. The La Leona waterfall trip is a must. Our driver and guide provided an adventure of a lifetime.

We had special requests that the host graciously assisted with. It was exactly the together time we needed. The driveway was steep but we could have gotten a car. A waitress at Las Brasis referred us to a driver and he took us wherever for 10 to 20 dollars. Just loved the local spots. Not asPrivate as weHad hoped but I think it was because of the dry season thinned out the vegetation. The property could use some updating. LOVED. Location and locals. Would love to go back. Could use some air in the living spaces.

Wonderful views!

We stayed five days at this spot and thoroughly enjoyed the location and home. The view of the ocean, the secure and beautiful gated grounds, the polite and friendly groundskeeper and housekeeper and the quick response from the property management (once when the water stopped and again when the coffee pot needed replacing). I would definitely seat there again and highly recommend it! The pool was nice to cool off in the afternoons and the sweet little dog named Tia that would come visit made the visit even more special!🐶❤️

Dazzling view

Spouse and I, son and daughter in law, and 13 year old grandson spent a wonderful 5 days at the house. The only problem we had was that the common area was often uncomfortably warm, so people tended to spend time in their air conditioned bedrooms. The beautiful outdoor areas were great for morning and evening communal time. It’s possible that the inside warmth was just a manifestation of extremely hot weather during our stay.

Great Family Retreat

We very much enjoyed our time in Potrero and this house was perfect and spacious for family of 5 adults. It was nice to have AC in the bedrooms to get ready and to sleep. The master BR and bath are very large and the views are stunning. The kitchen and family room area do not have AC but there are plenty of ceiling fans. The kitchen is well appointed. We spent time on the large veranda and you could not beat the sunset views. The pool area had a covered area with table and chairs. The landscaping is beautiful and we loved seeing the parrots. The best was having daily cleaning and laundry. Short stroll to beach. The hardest part of walk is the steep driveway. There are many great local restaurants in town. Would definitely recommend this house for your stay in Potrero

Casa Potrero.

The property views were excellent. The house cleaner was always there to clean and do Landry. The groundskeeper was there for us when we needed him. The appliances, toaster, coffee machine should be updated. It’s not an expensive endeavor. We were not able to visit with our guests as much at the house because we spent a great deal of the time in our respective bedrooms. The balcony was perfect for enjoying the ocean views, scenery and bird watching. The pool was great for hanging out and staying cool. Overall we were quite happy with the property.

Pacific coast review

Excellent location, environment, friendly resposive staff and good communication. We arrived late at night and had difficulty locating the house. The property manager got out of his bed to guide us to the house. The person living on the grounds came immediately to help us unload. The daily maid service with laundry was a bonus. The immediate response to the ice machine being broken was the delivery of 3 bags of ice. This was after i said it wasn't necessary because i had already purchased ice.

Great location!

This is a fantastic location with awesome views. Even the shower had a fantastic view. Although the beach is within walking distance, we drove since we had lots to carry and it was a very steep driveway. Loved all the restaurants and beaches nearby. Felt very safe while we were there. It was extremely hot when we visited--95 most days, which made it difficult to want to be outside, but also difficult to be inside the main area of the house--there are fans, but it was very hot. We had planned to make meals at the house, but due to the heat chose to eat out all the meals instead. The bedrooms did have nice AC!! Mindy was very communicative and offered suggestions. I didn't realize that housekeeping services were going to be there--it wasn't something we needed or desired, but might be nice for some. Ana Marie does a nice job cleaning, but because of the location, you definitely will find ants inside. Manageable, but may not be ideal for some kiddos. Really enjoyed our meal at Reparito House.

3 beaches

We are 2 couples in our 60’s. The set up of the house was perfect for us. We each had a bedroom on the end of the house. We did have a 3rd couple join us for 3 nights and they stayed in the lower bedroom. If we’d been 3 couples staying the entire time it might have come down to drawing the short straw to see who took the lower level bedroom. The property is set up on a hill - therefore the view is spectacular! We did not rent a car so we used Uber or we walked everywhere. The hill would be a climb if you are not in good physical shape. We walked all 3 of our beaches daily and really enjoyed that. We also spent lots of time under the gazebo or in the pool. The purpose of our trip was to rest, relax, and enjoy the heat, good food, and the beauty of Costa Rica!Walking into town along Playa Potrero is a much safer option than the road but check the tide charts. Potrero had many good restaurants and we tried numerous ones but not all of them. The staff at the house were friendly and very helpful. We had to resort to Google translate sometimes as none of us speak very much Spanish. We enjoyed the company of the dogs, especially Bella, as she was most affectionate and happy to hang out with us. Lovely home with a well set up kitchen and as I mentioned, spectacular views. Great to watch the sunset or the boats on the ocean. Our hosts were responsive and helpful and I highly recommend this property.

Lovely house on the hill

We arrived to this lovely home after a long, hot day of travel. The house large, comfortable, has all the amenities you could possibly need, and feels like a home that is lived in rather than a sparse, barren rental like some VRBOs or AirB&Bs we've stayed in. You can walk to the beaches nearby (Playa Prieta & Penca I think) but the walk back is all uphill and while we were there it was 96-97F and for us it was too hot, so we drove. Our favorite part of this Villa was the outdoor space. We loved the covered cabana area and the pool. It was so nice to be out there looking at the views while in the shade and be able to pop in & out of the pool. The main part of the house is not air conditioned, and it was too hot for us to sit in the living area, so we moved outdoors instead in the evenings. The bedrooms do have AC, the beds & pillows were very comfortable, and we slept great! Besides the pool, my other favorite thing about this home was the master shower with large windows giving views down to the ocean. We personally found having a housekeeper/groundskeeper on property while we were there a bit uncomfortable. Ernesto & AnaMarie were kind (no English) but we'd have preferred to not have them there sweeping, cleaning, doing our laundry while we were on site trying to enjoy our vacation. It would have been better for us to not have them at all during our short stay, or for them to have come in while we were out. Overall, I would recommend staying here.

Amazing house, amazing views!

The views!! We stayed here for a week over the new year and it was fabulous! This house is close to beaches, shops and restaurants. Did I mention the views?? It does sit up on a rather large and steep hill…which is how you get those amazing views! My husband and I were fine walking up and down it and did so for exercise. Our children (9 & 12) didn’t really enjoy it but they did it. If mobility is an issue for some, the hill can be challenging. There was some visible dust (I have a dust allergy) on the TV and glass top table. No big deal, I just cleaned them as cleaning supplies were plentiful. Ana Marie comes everyday to clean up and do laundry. She is so sweet! Ernesto is the property caretaker and he is very kind as well. I only know enough Spanish to get by and it seemed to work when communicating with them. Love that there are plenty of books stocked in the house and plenty of cooking supplies. Also, loved when the dogs came to visit. They are timid and very sweet. The birds are so fun to watch in the morning and afternoons. Renting a car is a must. It’s very easy to get around in your own vehicle. This was our first trip to Costa Rica and I’m so glad we chose this location. We will definitely be back! Pura vida!

Amazing Views of the Ocean with Short Walk to the Beach

We enjoyed our stay at this home. It is on 2 acres and feels very private. It has amazing views of the ocean. You can sit on the porch and hear the waves which is very relaxing. We enjoyed using the pool each day too. The house is set up with two bedrooms and two and a half bathrooms upstairs. The kitchen and family room are also upstairs. You then go down the outside stairs by the porch to get to the third bedroom and bathroom. Every bedroom has its own AC unit so you stay nice and cool at night. The family room can get a little warm during the afternoon but it didn’t bother us. We were usually off doing fun things around the area during that time or we would just sit out on the porch which has three ceiling fans. You can walk to the beach, Playa Prieta, in about 5-7 minutes. It’s an easy walk and the beach is beautiful and not crowded at all. There are trees on the beach you can sit under for shade. We loved playing in the ocean. Go out into the ocean along the middle section of the beach if you want to avoid the rocks. We also took the little trail over to the next beach, Playa Peca. It took us about 5 minutes. That beach is also very pretty with no crowds. We loved the little town Potrero, where the house is located. It takes about 5-10 minutes to walk into town. There are lots of restaurants to get food and even an Italian Gelato shop. We tried several of the restaurants and the gelato and they were all really good. We would enjoyed our time and would stay here again.
