Persephone is a simple but pretty self-contained bedroom/bathroom for one or 2 guests overlooking olive groves and Navarino Bay. There's no kitchen, but you have a kettle and fridge and coffee-making facilities. We're happy to provide plates, cutlery and chopping boards if you want to prepare cold food.

Ionis beach cafe does morning coffee/breakfast delivery.

The room is on the ground floor of a villa accommodation and has good air conditioning. Persephone has a separate entrance and parking to the apartments above. Because the house is on a hillside, the room is accessed by a flight of stairs leading down from the central courtyard. The property is in the middle of an olive grove - whilst being a convenient 12-15 minute walk ( 3 min drive ) from the bright lights of central Gialova and Costa Navarino, it's important to say you are staying in the middle of a very natural environment, teeming with creatures and insect life. You are likely to hear jackals and sometimes wild boars at night and cicadas in the day. If you are scared of insects or offended by spider's webs, this is probably not the place for you. If you love nature in all her forms,then it probably is ! There's a washing machine area and plenty of space for hanging washing.

Persephone is a great base for exploring the area - Golden Beach ( Divari ) is 5 mins drive and you're 20 mins away from the stunning beauty of Voidokilia Bay and Nestor's Cave ( featured in The Odyssey ). Pylos is 15 mins away by car and Methoni Castle a 25 minute drive. There are some great bars and restauraunts in Gialova, but if you're looking for something a bit more cheap and local you can drive up the hill to Pyla to our favourite grill taverna where you will find the biggest and best priced Horiatiki ( Greek salad ) imaginable !

If you're interested in history and archaeology there's a great small museum in Pylos Castle and it's 20 minutes drive to Nestor's Palace at Hora.

There's boat rental from Niko's Dive Shop in Pylos if you want to explore the monuments from the Battle Of Navarino and the best snorkelling sites around Navarino Bay. It's a really fantastic day out and if you don't want to skipper your own boat you can ask Niko to take you on a half day tour, which can include going round to Voidokilia Bay by sea.

Apart from the abundance of glorious beaches, this area also has several beautiful waterfall walks with ice cold pools to cool off in . Ancient Messini is an incredible site to visit and is around 1hr 20 mins away. Ancient Olympia is a 2 hour drive up the coast.
