Welcome to one of the oldest courtyard ensembles in Quedlinburg – our “Himmlischer Hof”, with a fascinating history dating back to 1477. Here, you experience authentic timber-framed heritage in the heart of a romantic UNESCO World Heritage town.
Our bright and spacious “Sonnenschein” holiday apartment for 4–6 guests (approx. 70 m²) is the perfect base for your stay in Quedlinburg. Lovingly restored with eco-friendly, heritage-approved materials, it combines historic charm with modern comfort. Clay plaster and natural materials create a healthy indoor climate - many guests say they sleep like in heaven.
Located on the first floor and accessed via a wide historic staircase, the apartment is filled with natural light streaming through charming mullioned windows - this warm atmosphere inspired the name “Sonnenschein.” Beautifully restored 200-year-old wooden floors throughout enhance the authentic experience.
The apartment features a cozy living room with wood-burning stove, books, games, radio, TV, and a sofa bed - perfect for relaxing evenings overlooking the romantic courtyard and Quedlinburg’s rooftops. The open-plan, fully equipped kitchen includes oven, ceramic hob, extractor hood, dishwasher, fridge, coffee machine, Cafissimo machine, toaster, kettle, and more. There are two bedrooms: one with a double bed (160 × 200 cm) and one with two single beds (100 × 200 cm). The modern bathroom offers natural stone tiles, a walk-in shower, underfloor heating, and a hairdryer.
A private parking space (2–5 minutes walking distance, fee applies) is available - an exceptional benefit in Quedlinburg’s historic old town. Freshly made beds, soft towels, firewood, local tips, and a small welcome gift are all provided.
The experience is completed by a romantic shared courtyard with a large dining table, cozy seating, hammocks, and a barbecue - an inviting oasis surrounded by historic timber-framed buildings.
The Himmlischer Hof itself has been lovingly restored over many years, preserving nearly 550 years of history while combining it with modern comfort. Natural materials and craftsmanship define every detail - each door is unique, carefully restored and set within ecological clay walls.
In addition to Sonnenschein, two further stylish apartments are available: Morgenglanz and Abendrot, offering flexible options for couples, families, or groups.
The surrounding Harz Mountains offer year-round experiences: hiking, cycling, steam train rides, lakes and water sports in summer, as well as sledding, cross-country skiing, and alpine skiing at Wurmberg in winter.
Planning a family gathering or special celebration? The Himmlischer Hof accommodates 12+ guests across all apartments, with generous shared spaces. The courtyard can host events for up to 30 people when all units are booked together.
