We had a very good stay at Villa Tortuga, communication great, house, parking, pool, location, all good.50 steps up to the main door was too many for older guests. What made the stay was the 5 star chef. He was over the top with quality and customer experience. We didn't plan on using him but we got amazing meals, on time and with a smile for less than we could go to a restaurant (fresh fish daily). Tipping was asked for several venues.....and an 18% surcharge of your stay added for use of cabinet items (paper towels, coffee, condiments, etc) as info. We gave the Chef a nice tip and an even nicer gift...he was worth every penny!Not the fault of the rental but there were daily power outages, one that lasted 6 hours. We enjoyed our stay.

Heaven on earth

100 steps from the street to the top floor before you even get to the treehouse! The rooms were lovely, the appointments lovely, the views amazing! Monkeys birds, so many things to see even a sloth! Room for all of us with room to spare and spread out. And the chef… There are no words! He and his wife were the absolute best! We all agreed that every meal was five star dining and the presentation was amazing as well. Outstanding! Wish I could take them home with me.

Four stars because of the steps! Five stars for the Manager and Chef.

Must love many stairs! Property was beautiful, but not laid out for someone with any limitations. Our house manager Victor was fabulous!! Chef Didier was the best! We were glad we chose to eat our evening meals at the house, because they were spectacular!! Food costs were very reasonable. The girls had a wonderful time!

Absolutely perfect stay at Villa Tortuga in Manuel Antonio!

A group of 8 of us stayed at Villa Tortuga for 4 nights during our weeklong trip to Costa Rica, and we couldn't possibly have loved the place or enjoyed our stay more! We were so very sad to leave; Jessie was the most wonderful host, she welcomed us with drinks and snacks the first night, and was always available and so friendly and helpful with anything we needed. The villa itself is just majestic and incredibly well furnished and equipped - words and pictures do it very little justice. The pool deck, multiple grills and dining areas, and the patios were just some of our favorite parts of the house. We highly highly recommend this place, and certainly hope to go back there sometime soon!

Pura Vida at Villa Tortuga

My friends and I loved our stay at Villa Tortuga. Chef Ricardo is incredibly talented and every meal he made for us was delicious. The concierge, Jessica, helped us book several activities which made planning the trip much easier. The home has a breathtaking view of the ocean with several outdoor gathering areas. It's in a convenient location with shops and restaurants within a 5 minute walk and an easy bus or taxi ride down to the beach. It was clean, well-maintained, and we appreciated the small touches, like board games, USB plug-ins, and Amazon Echos. We enjoyed our trip so much that we will try to visit Villa Tortuga again.

Wonderful Getaway

We had a very large group and we had more than enough space. Each family enjoyed their room and private bathroom. The house is amazing, be ready for lots of stairs! But the stairs will help you work off all of the wonderful food from Chef Ricardo who was amazing and accommodating with our large group. We had everything set up for us by Jessica and had great communication with excursion, massage and shuttle arrangements. Everything went as planned and smooth. With different ages, abilities and dietary needs we were all happy with our trip from start to finish!

The property is very nice and comfortable in a convenient location.

Victor the property manager is professional, friendly and knowledgeable about activities you can do. He made all our arrangements even when we had last minute request. Didier the chef is amazing! He accommodated my family with the food choices we wanted. He is truly a gem in the kitchen. The House is set up in a comfortable, functional way. Plenty of outdoor spaces to enjoy the beautiful view. The location is walking distance to grocery store, souvenir shops and restaurants. I would recommend VillaTortuga to my friends and family.

Best experience!

While we were visiting the area received torrential rain so we didn’t get to experience the property as it was intended. However we learned the property has a small resort feel. Very well designed for communal visits. Very clean. Very well appointed. Very safe. But what makes this property exceptional are the people. Isolde the housecleaner was attentive and kind and kept the place spotless. Ricardo and his wife Alba prepared the yummiest of breakfasts… so beautifully prepared and presented. We also had 2 dinners prepared by them. We will never forget their outstanding meals and overall generosity. We have rented in several countries and this will remain closest to our hearts.

Villa Tortuga

Four couples stayed in Manuel Antonio at Villa Tortuga from 01/26/19 to 02/03/19. Outstanding location with spectacular views from every room/deck and a great location. Tastefully and comfortably decorated. The highlight of our vacation was Chef Didier. Breakfasts and dinners were exquisitely prepared and the presentation was only exceeded by the taste of his meals. All eight of us cleaned our plates every day... incredible! He exceeding our high expectations. Didier is a talented chef, but also a pleasure to socialize with. He made excursion recommendations and arrangements and followed up on all details. Didier made our vacation most memorable. We hated to leave.

Great time, great house, definitely recommend!

The house was very clean and everything we expected (including the stairs). I was pleasantly surprised to find out there were 2 rooms with King sized beds, which made it easy to divide bedrooms fairly between 2 families. Many different seating areas that fit a lot of people, including outdoor LARGE sectional which is covered and a great place to be when it's raining. Squirrel Monkeys visited us there our first morning. With all that said, it was really Didier who made the stay the most memorable. Our teenagers were always wondering "I wonder what we'll have for dinner tonight?". Now back to reality and cooking for ourselves, the very first day back my son said "I miss Didier".

Costa Rican Magic

This was an incredible stay! We spent the first part of our week in Costa Rica here and it exceeded our expectations. From the moment Chef Ricardo greeted us at the door, we were treated with warmth and care. The meals were outstanding, the views breathtaking, and the massages truly top-notch. The entire property felt like a dream come true!The pool was ideal for both kids and adults, and the space was perfect for our group of four couples and two children. We also booked the extra suite, which gave everyone plenty of privacy and comfort. One of the highlights was the wildlife—we spotted monkeys, parrots, parakeets, scarlet macaws, agoutis, and more, all from the balcony!A point of note: there are a lot of stairs to access the property. While this wasn’t an issue for our group, it could be a consideration for those with mobility challenges.Additionally, one of the couples booked a jet ski tour through the concierge. While the tour itself was fantastic, there was some miscommunication around scheduling and a significant delay in response time. We recommend following up consistently and including the property owner, Jackie, in all communication to ensure plans are confirmed.All in all, we had a magical stay and would absolutely return!

Amazing Stay at Villa Tortuga!

The Villa Tortuga was everything we expected and more. There were 10 adults in our group and the Villa was perfect for our group. 8 out of the 10 have never visited Costa Rica before and it was spectacular. Jackie was extremely responsive and helpful with all our questions and needs. Her place is so wonderful. Can’t say enough great things about the chef, Didier. He is so personable, friendly and was so helpful with booking our excursions during our stay. His culinary skills are amazing! We all enjoyed visiting with him in the kitchen while he prepared our meals. An added bonus was JC, the bartender we hired one night. That was definitely a great night of dancing and laughing with our friends! I would definitely recommend this place and I hope to visit again with my family!

Villa Tortuga, wonderful stay.

We had a wonderful two weeks at Villa Tortuga. First, the house is spectacular: beautiful, well-appointed rooms with dazzling views. The staff is very helpful, from Jessica, the concierge who makes all of your arrangements, to Isolde, the housekeeper. Then there is Ricardo and his wife Alba. He is an amazing chef who can make anything you desire. The food was worthy of a Michelin star. Breakfasts and dinners were delicious! Jackie, the owner, is very responsive and a pleasure to deal with. Things to make note of: there are lots of stairs; the weather is hot; the terrain around Manuel Antonio is steep; the welcome package is packed with information and should be read carefully, especially as to how much cash you may need. On top of the great food and lovely home, it was a magnificent thrill to see a pair of scarlet macaws fly by daily. Pura vida!

An Exceptional Experience!

'This house is like staying at a private luxury hotel--how did you ever find it?' This is the quote I kept hearing from my family during our stay at Villa Tortuga. The Villa is spacious and well decorated. The grounds and pool area beautiful. The location is perfect in Manuel Antonio area--could walk to the bus and the town (although the terrain is hilly, so you need to be somewhat fit). The house is immaculately clean, thanks to the lovely, helpful housekeeper. BUT, the highlight of the experience was our included chef--Chef Ricardo. His food and presentation of meals was like dining at a high quality restaurant! Our group has some special dietary requests, so he discussed meal options and served the meals family style--perfect for our group. Breakfast and dinner was provided daily (except for staff day off on Sunday). Our thanks to Jackie, the owner, for sharing her home with us. She was clear about payment and money due at the end of our stay (our food, of course) Have extra cash on hand so you can provide a gratuity for this excellent staff.

Absolutely Amazing!

Top notch! We always use VRBO. This was a first in a different country and we were blown away!! The pictures and description are spot on. What you can’t capture in the description is the incredible STAFF!! If we could have brought them home with us.. we would have. But since we can’t.. we will be coming back next year so we can return to see them and more of this beautiful region. Ricardo you and your beautiful wife are great people and you made us feel like your family. As for tours, we did a lot in 5 days. We did the ATV, Whitewater rafting, the waterfalls, the beach, the Catamaran. Tony’s tours are great and we can’t say enough about Tony or Caesar. They will definitely be on our list. They went above and beyond just tour guides! They also became part of our family and are in our hearts. Jackie, your home is beautiful!!!! We will be back next year!! Pura Vida❤️❤️❤️

Perfect escape from city living, without sacrificing comfort

This was a perfect week in paradise, right between the jungle and the beach. We had 5 people and EASILY could have doubled that and still been comfortable in the great house. The place is very tastefully appointed and modern, and the kitchen is fabulous. All of the rooms are comfortable and worthwhile, and the views are spectacular. I highly recommend getting the kitchen stocked by the staff before you arrive. Jessie the manager is very friendly and helpful, but also knows how to stay out of the way when you want ;) a customer service ninja! The pool is ideally sized, and sometimes you are joined by monkeys and sloths on the pool deck. So much fun. The house is minutes from all of the sites and activities and food, but still feels secluded. It's an incredible house, very modern from a westerner's perspective, they even have Netflix ;D Just a heads up that this place has beautiful mountainside views of the ocean, and this means a few stairs, so heads up if there are any elderly people or injured people with crutches, etc.

A True Week in Paradise

Our group spent a magical week at Villa Tortuga. The location, view, house, pool, and FOOD were amazing. Chefs Ricardo and Alba were easily the best part of the trip, making us fresh, tasty meals every day and catering to our different dietary needs. The grounds and home are well kept by the friendly staff, and laundry service was a great plus. It was easy and convenient to work with the concierge to arrange our activities each day. (We absolutely recommend the massage and a guided tour of the National Park!) The visits from monkeys made our stay special, even if they did try to steal our snacks -- the wildlife in Manuel Antonio makes it such a unique destination. We opted to rent the extra 5th bedroom on the upper-level which has a King bed to fit everyone comfortably as we found the beds in the lower annex purple room and the green room off the kitchen to be somewhat small for two adults (they felt slightly smaller than Queens). We recommend being mindful to bring enough cash. The owner/staff did a good job explaining this when we booked the house. The food/grocery bill and most excursions are paid with a credit card. But cash is needed for tips, massages and the purchase of fish, meat, seafood, plus an 18% gratuity of the bill for what was consumed. Our group opted for multiple massages, lots of fresh seafood and well-deserved tips for the staff and we each spent several hundred dollars in (U.S. currency) cash. great place and outstanding service

We had an absolutely wonderful stay at this beautiful property in Quepos! Our group of 10 was perfectly accommodated in this spacious and well-appointed house. The views were truly breathtaking - we spent countless hours on the deck just taking in the stunning scenery.The house itself exceeded our expectations with plenty of room for everyone to relax comfortably. The bedrooms were well-distributed, and the common areas were perfect for our group gatherings. Everything was clean, well-maintained, and exactly as described in the listing.

Spacious home. Family gathering common areas were plentiful. The dining room seats 12. There is a lovely dining area by the pool. The pool and waterfall were beautiful. The view of the ocean was remarkable. The highlight was certainly Chef Ricardo and his Sous chef/wife Alba. They were attentive and the preparation and presentation were of the highest caliber.
