We had a wonderful stay at Casa Magica. Maria, the in-house cook, made many delicious and authentic Ecuadorian dishes including Guatita (we requested) which was unusual and excellent. Carmen was an ever attentive housekeeper, keeping the fire going in the living room on the colder nights! Wonderful spacious grounds and rooms for our family and friends to stay while visiting Quito and the surrounding area!
Andrés’ property is an absolute gem in the heart of Okd Town. The place is more beautiful than what’s shown in the listing. The courtyard is absolutely gorgeous. All the living rooms were beautiful with bouquets fresh flowers. Communication with Andres was easy and smooth. His staff, Carmen, Maria and Fernando were great! We all thoroughly enjoyed the stay. Next time I am in Quito will definitely stay here again.
The Villa was the beginning of our trip and an incredible way to start. Exceptionally beautiful and the staff are extremely attentive and perfect in every way. We will never stay anywhere else when we return and can’t wait to go back.
The property was absolutely beautiful. Couldn't ask for a better location. I loved staying at the historic location. Our rooms were spacious and the place beautiful. Loved the entire villa.
Gorgeous property with very responsive property manager made for an excellent first visit to Quito for my group of 7! Staff arranged airport transfer and breakfasts which were very helpful. Extra perk to have filtered and bottled water readily available.
We had high expectations based on the previous reviews of this property but we were blown away with this perfect house. It is huge and very well appointed. Carmen the housekeeper was delightful and the host/owner answered every question quickly. He even steered us to an amazing day trip guide via someone he knows who guides in Quito. Ivan Lopez ( edivanly@hotmail.com) organized three day long excursions for us to Otavalo, Mindo Cloud Forest, and Quilotoa Lake, and we fell in love with his knowledge and enthusiasm for Ecuador. This is an exquisite property.
This is a fantastic property located about two blocks from Plaza San Francisco in the old town. The property is expansive, definitely room for 14 people with excellent furnishings, exceptional art and a very attentive staff attending to all our needs. We were ten including three teenagers and every one of us was thrilled to be here. This has to be the best property in Quito and thank you very much for opening up your personal residence for our benefit.
One of the best stays I’ve ever had. The house is pictured exactly and actually better in real life! Loved having Maria Carmen and Carmen cooking up traditional Ecuadorian dishes. Legit the best.
Andres, Carmen and the whole staff of the house were friendly and welcoming. We always felt safe and great coming back to the Villa to rest after a long day of activities.
when we arrived, we were blown away that such a gorgeous home was available
for a home stay. then we had a wonderful xmas meal prepared by Maria. everything was perfect and we enjoyed the property immensely. so much better than a hotel for
our family.
Property is an exceptional spanish hacienda in the Old City with internal courtyard. Rooms were spacious and unique. Maria and Carmen served us some wonderful Ecuadorean dinners and always a warm breakfast.Don't miss the opportunity to stay here.
My family and I loved staying in this house. It is beautiful and expansive. The staff people were gracious and professional. The only problem was that the house was so lovely that it tempted us to stay in instead of exploring Quito!
An absolutely outstanding property with exceptional staff. Maria and Carmen were delightful and made us feel like royalty. Five stars does not do this property justice. It belongs in a superior category. We feel lucky to have had the opportunity to stay here and to have met Andres.
This place is like magic. The home is astonishing, location is perfect. The housekeepers are so generous and lovely. They had breakfast for us every day, got groceries, handled transportation, cooked for us and for our friends who weren’t even staying there. They were so nice. The communication with the manager leading up to the trip was great. Our trip to Quito was a thousand times better because we stayed here.
"Maganificent Villa" is absolutely right. This place is truly gorgeous and sumptuous throughout, an incredible introduction to Quito and easy to feel right at home. The furnishings, decor, ambience, and location are all top notch. Just as good (or better) are the people. Andres is fabulous to work with--very proactive and transparent and supportive. The cooks--Maria del Carmen and Carmen--were truly a delight. They made some of the best meals of our two-week trip in Ecuador and Peru. Fernando was also an excellent driver and guide throughout. I can't say enough positive about our stay here!
Stay here!! Stay here!! Stay here!! We’ve stayed in a lot of hotels, 5 star fancy ones, but this was the first place I’ve ever been truly sad to leave! The architecture, the colors, the design… just breathtaking! Everything is spotless and smells so fresh! The flowers in the courtyard are gorgeous! Carmen, the house attendant, is gorgeous as well and so very sweet! The food they made was yummy and they had it ready promptly on time. You walk from room to room and everyone in your party continues to comment again and again just how stunning the home is! Truly, there aren’t really words to describe just how much we loved our stay here!!
We travelled as a multigenerational family of 10 and this property exceeded our expectations in every way. Andres was super helpful in making reservations, giving advice on sightseeing, and arranging for 3 airport pickups at various, inconvenient times. The house was perfect for our large group, and we enjoyed the large outdoor gathering area. The architecture, art and artifacts deserve their own guide book. The location in Old Town worked well for our different groups exploring at different times. Most remarkable was the staff. Delicious meals, snacks when we needed them, a surprise birthday celebration, and patience and kindness toward our 4 young kids. Thank you for a wonderful introduction to Ecuador!
The purpose of our Quito/Galapagos getaway was to gather 16 of our multigenerational family to enjoy Quito for a few days before all of us headed on to the Galapagos.
From start to finish our experience at the Villa was sensational.
Andres, the owner, was responsive, accommodating and creative.
Not only did he make an exception to allow 16 guests by delivering two additional beds but also:
- made arrangements to have all of us picked up at the Quito airport involving two separate flights 8 hours apart
- made arrangements for two private dinners for 16 at the Villa featuring gourmet Ecuadorian food and beverages
- made arrangements for three breakfasts including getaway day leaving at 4AM
- connected us with a professional guide of Colonial Quito which happened to coincide with festive Palm Sunday celebrations
- made arrangements for transportation for all 16 of us from the Villa to the Quito airport on getaway day
Fernando, our transportation captain, Maria, our house manager and chef along with Carmen were hard working, cheerful and attentive.
Andres had done an incredible job restoring this classic Villa with attention to high end detail that did not go unnoticed.
The Villa is expansive and where all family members had space to either engage or find solitude.
I infrequently write reviews, however, our stay was so exceptional that I wanted to share our experience.
Cheers.

The listing simply does not do this property justice.
First the house : Our family stayed here for one week and we enjoyed every minute of this magical house. We travel a lot and have been fortunate to stay in some very unique houses and villas — this was over the top unique and cultured. The house was beautifully renovated but the owners managed to preserve the culture. It was outfitted with amazing furniture and linens; it had famous original art works, a writers tower, a wine cellar, an outdoor courtyard, a yoga room, and so much space! The views of the city were amazing too!
The service: From the local host we received a warm welcome and even a history lesson about the house and some of Ecuador’s story. She introduced us to Carmen (the caretaker) and showed us all around. The host even sat and played board games with the kids! Every morning Carmen would make a delicious breakfast and set a beautiful table. She made mid-day mint tea and nighttime tea. The house was spotless (even though our three kids were running around).
The location: at first we hesitated on staying in old Quito, but I am so glad we decided to. This house is walkable to museums, churches, plazas, shopping, dining, craft fairs and parks! So much to do in the area!
If you have the opportunity to stay here — do it!! Don’t hesitate!

Awesome, Relaxing, Luxurious, Everything and then some!!!!!!
Our family of 10 decided to go back to our native land. We ranged in ages from 30 to 85. There was not one person that was not awed by the luxuty and comfort of the accomodations. The breakfasts were delicious (fresh juices, cheese, eggs, fresh bread, COFFEE, or cafe con leche. ) You name it you could have it. Just let her know the day before. It is in the best part of town to see the real Quito. Plenty of museums, presidential palace, and markets within walking distance. The accomodations and the service was next to none we have ever experienced. We have a lot of relatives in Quito and all were impressed and were going to recommend to anyone they knew would be coming in for vacation. I would come and stay here anytime I come back in a heartbeat. Thank you, we felt like royalty the whole time.

Remarkable residence in a great location.
We stayed at the Colonial House in Quito a few weeks ago and it was a wonderful experience. The staff was super helpful (spoke both English and Spanish) and was ready to assist us, whether it was driving some where, doing laundry or making a meal, but they were completely out of the way when not needed. Their quarters were in a separate section of the House and it seemed as though they were not there. The house itself was very large and built around a central courtyard that made us feel like we were in our own Hotel. There is a lovely fountain, seating and landscape in the courtyard that takes you away from the home's location, which is a few blocks from the bustle of the Historic center of old Quito. We were able to easily walk to all the Old Town historic spots, which was a big plus. The house is wonderfully furnished with an eclectic mix of modern pieces and beautiful antiques and art work. Quite simply, it was a great find for us, and we didn't want to leave!
