Illini Inn & Suites Hotel - Rantoul/Gifford/Champaign/Urbana
10/10 Excellent
"Kinda neat staying in former service quarters on a deactivated air base!
Illini has done a great job integrating one-time barracks into the hospitality industry.
Rooms have an 70's fighter-training facility feel but nice Hilton-quality bedding and towels.
Enjoyed walking the very lightly peopled streets surrounding the hotel -- and seeing the lights of the old airstrip [ which was hostibg late-model 'Vette time trials that weekend."
"Outdated, tvs outdated, it was hot. Air barely worked, bed bugs, breakfast limited selection middle of no where cool but limited everything and outdated was terrible"
"We arrived for a two-night stay and were assigned to the second floor. We had a person in a wheelchair with us and were told that the hotel did not have an elevator. AND that there were no other rooms available. So, coming from out of state we parked ourselves in the lobby until the clerk suggested calling his manager. After about 15 minutes a room magically appeared. We had to have our keys rekeyed about 6 times because they were locking us out. The TV didn't work when we arrived but we were able to get some instructions on turning it on, by unplugging it. We enjoyed the breakfast."
"This Super 8 is a good value. An older property, major maintenance has suffered--for instance, my bathroom sink was cracked and the shower fixtures were badly worn. But it was basically clean with a good bed, enough towels and pillows, microwave and fridge, coffee in the lobby, and convenient location."
"Bathroom was inside the primary bedroom making it cumbersome for the person staying on the couch, needed to go thru bedroom to access bathroom.
Room was in upper floor and no elevator available to get bags up easily
TV reception was low quality"
"The staff was friendly at check-in but there were a few hairs on the towels and in the shower. There was a long line for happy hour food/drinks because a huge tour bus group checked in ahead of me so I skipped it. I had the same issue at breakfast. I think that’s just poor timing but the stay was overpriced for a dirty room and not being able to take advantage of the included food and drink."
Have fun wandering through a corn maze, feeding reindeer, racing pedal carts and selecting a Christmas tree at this Illinois farm with trees and much more.
