Your home is sweet, sunny, and in a quiet neighborhood of older homes and trees. It is the full main floor, with an open concept foyer, kitchen and living room, with modest but comfortable furnishings. The living / dining room is large, with a nice sofa and sleeper love seat, and stuffed reading chairs which are cozy, but worn. The bedrooms are super-comfortable and have either pillow top or memory foam beds. Pictures and plants make it more a home than simply a rental. She's a bit of an old lady, but with a fully refurbished interior. :)
Your home encompasses the full main floor of the house (1450 square feet), and is fully furnished and outfitted with linens, complete kitchenware/supplies, and cleaning supplies. You have a large front yard with seating and a gazebo. You are a few minutes away from the 15/501 highway & business, and are seven minutes from Duke Hospital/University, and approx. 20 minutes to University of Chapel Hill (UNC) & its Hospital. Your host is in a separate lower (terrace) level apartment. We'll likely not see each other, but we're here if you need anything.
Your living room is spacious and sunny (bay window) with a beautiful view of the woods at the back of the house. It has a comfortable sofa and chairs (worn but comfy), and includes a full dining area with an old dark wood expandable dining table.
Your kitchen is fully outfitted and is also very sunny. It includes its own nice table and chairs. It faces the front of the house with the large yard giving additional spaciousness to the interior.
The en suite bedroom has light true oak furniture - old but nice, and includes a private bath with shower. There are two large windows, with an additional one in its bath.
The second bedroom is the next largest, with a pillow top mattress bed, also queen. This room has two large windows, one of which faces east with the back yard and trees.
The third bedroom is small but sweet, with a large east-facing window, light grey walls, and all-white furniture. The bed is a comfortable twin, with extra drawer storage.
The second bathroom has a tub as well as shower (rain shower head). It is in the hallway and shared by the two bedrooms.
There is a pull-out love seat twin sofa bed (padded for a good sleep), and a full-sized air mattress if needed. The house is large, and fabulous for family and friends gatherings, so has options for more sleepers. :)
Please also know that this is an older home, in an older neighborhood, and has a few creaks and cracks. If you prefer a place that is newer and more pristine, and/or more in the heart of activity, there are likely better choices (we want everyone who stays here to be happy). If you enjoy older homes with a bit of character :), that have space and yard and trees, and you don’t mind a bit of the age showing through the home and its furnishings, this might be a great pick.
Your host is in the separate apartment level with its own yard and entrance. The yard is large and sloped, enabling two separate residences. The only area we share is the laundry which is on the host's level. It is enclosed, and you have your own washer, dryer and supplies. You likely won’t see us, but we are available by request or if there is something you need. Please know that we have two dogs: one who is quiet, and one which we are still training to be so. There will likely be a bit of barking, but minimal.
A few environmentally positive notes: the house has solar panels, and the yard is trimmed, but not planted with grass. It is filled with what nature here prefers. There is a small pollinator garden in spring and summer, and we provide environmentally kind cleaners. As it is on the edge of Duke Forest, it is close to many wonderful trails, with a bit of wildlife (hawks, deer, rabbits, owls) crossing now and then.
We are happy to answer any questions you may have to help you determine if this is the right space for your stay. Thank you!
