Summary:
The Casita is a cozy one bedroom upstairs apartment. The decor is an eclectic southwestern style and is set up perfectly for cozy stays!
The bedroom has a super comfy memory foam queen size bed. The living room also has a small futon sofa. It works well for the kiddos but it’s not a great size for adults. If you have a larger group and need more space please consider booking the "The Carriage house" or the “The Gallery House” Both are right next door and are beautiful, updated historic homes!
The Space:
The Casita includes a full kitchen, with coffee. A full bath with tub. 65" smart TV with great sound for awesome movie nights and game days! Fast fiber optic WiFi and a futon for a little more sleeping room. There is also a beautiful grassy, shaded yard. It is a common space for our guests. It is shared with the “Historic 1800's Carriage House” and the “Queen Anne Art House” we have plenty of off street parking and can typically accommodate even trucks with trailers. (Please check with us if you have a larger rig)
Guest Access:
Welcome to The Casita, the charming upstairs stucco apartment located closer to the street. Feel free to park right next to the stairs—there’s no need to worry about blocking the garage doors, as we don’t need access to them.
We want you to feel at home, so please make yourself comfortable and enjoy the peaceful surroundings. If you have any questions or need assistance during your stay, don’t hesitate to reach out!
The Neighborhood:
We’re right off 2nd Street which is the main drag through Raton. There is a great little trail system "Climax Canyon" available for hiking and biking just a few blocks away. It is easily walkable to downtown where you'll find the Amtrak Train station and eating options including, Bruno’s (pizza, wings, salad), Los Chanquis, Mexican and Seafood, Enchanted Grounds (coffee and sandwiches), La Cocina (Mexican) and the local brewery Colfax Ale Cellar. Sage Coffee is the other direction (south) just a few blocks and has the best coffee in town as well as fresh baked goods and pastries.
Getting Around:
Raton is a small town so walking is easy but parking is plentiful so driving is fine too
Other Things to Note:
The stairs are rather steep, please be careful!
Green dumpsters are just across the street if they’re needed. They are bear proof so you have to squeeze the handle awkwardly and then hoist the heavy lid… sorry 😁
Feel free to wander around the beautiful yards! The Casita does have its own little patio and chairs just at at the bottom of the stairs.
Interaction with Guests:
One of the hosts is almost always available to answer questions via Airbnb message or text!
We live 35 miles east of town on a ranch. We are not typically around the air bnbs when guests arrive (I wish we were!) but please feel free to reach out with any questions.
