Very nice location and helpful staff. We rented bikes from hotel, it was great. AC is too noisy, even when it is off there is AC noise from other rooms.

It was good a three night stay. The hotel is located 2 blocks from the beach, there are many eating and drinking options on your way to the beach, there's a supermarket right in front of the hotel. There's´ a partnership with a Gym Chain just around the corner. Don't even bother about the pool and the gym inside. 20 mins from Santos Dummond, 30 mins to Tom Jobim´s Airport.

Great stay
The staff at the hotel were excellent. Everyone, without exception, was very pleasant and helpful. The hotel is dated however, the rooms were spacious, clean and comfortable. The dining room for breakfast was small and we were asked to specify when we would have breakfast. The breakfast was continental style with a reasonable choice of food. The location is excellent.

The sheets were dirty, there were hairs in the bed, the desk was dirty they did not clean the room upon arrival. I requested to talk to the manager (Cecilia) and they told me she wasn’t there and I had to wait until the next day. The next day she wasn’t there either. This place is terrible, during these times you can’t afford to be in a place without disinfection. Horrible experience

Super friendly staff. Room I got was simple, but clean, which is what I only needed. Spent most of the time outside. Location was convenient - close to restaurants, bars, and only a 2 min walk to Copacabana. Hotel is located in a safe part of Rio as well, even at late at night (at least that's how I felt).

I got there after a long trip, was told to go to another hotel, because Vilamar had overbooked. I was not notified at the last minute change, had to get another uber to Windsor Plaza, which was far away from my relatives. Not even transportation I was offered by the switch!

Hotel has the basic amenities. Room could be cleaner. I found hair and dust in the bathroom and bathtub. Tub was a jacuzzi that didn’t work. AC is noisy. Gym had very few equipments. Breakfast is ok. Staff is great and the aromatic water downstairs was a great touch. Overall, hotel is good for those looking for the basic and a comfortable room.

Some of the staff were courteous. Close to Copacobana. Breakfast was good. Was mistakenly charged for a coco cola. I took coconut water. The matter was resolved but the should be careful with the items check off. The stay was great. Would recommend.

The roof top pool is no longer the same as in the photos. I had a choice of several hotels in the same price range and chose this one for the beautiful views from the pool. Turns out they blocked the ocean view with a new hotel over a year ago. The rooftop is nothing to rave about. Overall, the hotel is ok at most. The breakfast is repetitive and lucklaster. But I must admit - they do have some lovely staff here and there.

Thank you for your review. The photos posted on the website are from the hotel pool, which has no sea view, but has a very nice view of the neighborhood and the mountains. As for breakfast, it is well assorted to cater even to people with some kind of food restriction. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. The room was comfortable and clean, no problem with hot water or air-conditioning. Nice breakfast. Excellent location, near supermarkets and 2 blocks to the beach. We really enjoyed our stay!

This hotel is most ideally located, in a very safe area, with more bars, restaurants, super markets, pharmacies, etc. right next door! The beach is a mere couple of blocks away, a very easy walk. Only issue I wasn't exactly happy with was the complimentary breakfast buffet. It was very good, tasty, assorted pastries, breads, fresh fruit, coffee, juice, etc. but the 2 hot items were (DAILY!) scrambled eggs and "sausage" (looked like sliced hot dogs to me!) in some sort of sauce. Not that great. But, the sliced deli meats and cheeses, yogurt, cereal, provided a well balanced meal.

Wonderful Vilamar
It was a good stay,the staff are very friendly and helpful.The hotel is only 5 minutes walk away from the action on Copacabana beach and loads of good restaurants within walking distance. The room was spacious and clean,the bed was comfortable and the shower was powerful and hot.The included breakfast is buffet with a variety of breads,cakes,hams, cheeses,cereals,scrambled eggs,sausage etc The hotel does trips and excursions at competitive price ,which we used. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone and would stay there again when in Rio.

Lovely, but make sure pool is functioning first
I chose the Vilamar after setting my filters to only include Copacabana Beach area hotels that offered a pool. I’d say it was perfectly reasonable in terms of cleanliness, service, location, buffet breakfast, internet speed, room quality, etc. Sadly, a pool was a tropical vacation imperative, & in this area the Vilamar failed to deliver. Their pool & steam room remained out of order for the entirety of our 6 day stay. While we were told repeatedly repairs might be completed the next day, that day never came during our stay. They could’ve stated on hotels.com these features would be unavailable, or notified me of this fact by email, but, alas, did not. On our day of departure, w/ a flight that left shortly after 12am, I asked if it would be possible to keep our room until 10pm @ no extra charge. I wouldn’t normally make such a request, but as staff was well aware of our disappointment w/ the pool situation, I felt a complimentary 10 hr check out ext request was hardly unreasonable. Upon having front desk staff refuse our request, we asked to speak to the mgr. She offered a free 2 hr extension, but otherwise wouldn’t budge on requiring a charge of 1/2 the daily room rate for the addl 10 hrs. I found the hotel completely acceptable & lovely, this pool matter aside. I would, however, be reluctant to return to any hotel I felt cheated me out of the most important amenity I seek in a vacation experience, & is then unwilling to make any accommodation for their service shortcomings.

Cute gem in heart of Copocabana
Very convenient location, just 10 minutes from beach. Grocery store across the road. Excellent service in helping with tours booking. Good breakfast.Metro is two blocks away.

A good hotel with the worst client service ever
I checked out and they told me we can stay at the bar and order drinks. We did that. We asked to be billed to the bar as we already checked out. We were surprised with the treatment we receive as more that 3 people came up to ‘follow us’ to the reception desk to pay $20. I felt treated as a thief. Not my fault they lacked a wireless machine to pay with my card!

Good choice and not far from Copacabana beach
Overall good hotel in a side street of Copa beach. Rooms are small but big enough for a few nights stay. The friendly lady at the reception speaks well English.

great hotel, close to beach and value for money
nice comfortable hotel in a very good location. 5 mins walk to Copacabana beach. close to lots of bars, restaurant and shops. Staff are excellent here; very friendly and helpful at all times. Great value for money. Rooms are a bit dated but clean and comfortable which for me was the main thing. would def recommend
