The Historic Summit Inn

10/10 Excellent

"Pretty cool Hotel with a lot of history and a great view. We also enjoyed eating dinner at the restaurant good food. Overall, we had a great stay would stay again."

"The problem here is that the place is so old and not kept up. The curtains were torn, entry doors were marked and scarred, the bathroom was dated and old. The sink was missing the stopper, there was a musty, dirty smell when you entered the lobby, and the pool looked like something out of a National Lampoon Vacation movie. There are only two motels in Ligonier so you have very little choice. I think you would be better served staying in Latrobe or selecting a bed and breakfast if you must stay in Ligonier. I am surprised that Ramada or Wyndham would be ok with their name on this place. Sadly, I am not sure it would be worth it to try to rehabilitate it . The smart move might be to bulldoze it and start all over. We have stayed in worst places but I really can’t remember where or when."

"I try to find the good in every situation. The desk clerk was excellent! Very helpful in finding us the best possible room. That being said . . . Wow! I have never been in a hotel like this. Paint was peeling off the ceiling in many areas - large pieces! The bathroom tub looked unusable. In fact, we didn't use it. The shower curtain looked dirty and was falling apart. The firsgt room we were assigned was a king sized bed at the furthest corner of the hotel. It looked like a room from a dystopian movie. The desk manager was able to get us into a room with two double beds - it worked for one night because the room appeared to be in much better condition, although their was paint peeling off the walls in the bathroom. We don't usually stay at a Quality Inn, and now I probably never will. I hope their other properties are much, much better than this one."
