OCEANVIEW Waves - Wimble Shores Dr. - DOWN BY THE SEA is just a short walk to the ocean or the sound for watersports access, just one block from restaurants, and is loaded with great amenities such as spacious 9' ceilings. The downstairs game room has a pool table, 32" flat screen TV, wet bar with refrigerator and access to the poolside deck with picnic table. Step down to the private saltwater pool and 6-person hot tub and relax your cares away. The mid-level features two king master suites and a bedroom with two singles - each with TV and direct deck access leading down to the pool and spa. Also on this level is the queen bedroom with TV that shares a hall bath with the twin room. The top level great room, with vaulted ceilings and 50" TV, features ocean to sound views. The spacious kitchen with pantry offers beautiful sound views as well from its oversized windows. Finishing this level is a king master suite with vaulted ceiling, TV, and views of ocean and sound. Maximum occupancy is 12. This home offers free passes to the Rodanthe Fishing Pier for either fishing or sightseeing. Life is short and the place to be is DOWN BY THE SEA. (Fireplace seen in pictures is not available for guest use.)

Great Place In Rodanthe

Great time

The property was well kept and very clean. The pool however wasn't vacuumed but it wasn't too bad. The kids were still able to swim. Very good distance from the ocean and other attractions.

A gem in the OBX!

Upon arrival, the house from the outside was adorable. Inside the house was clean and spacious. You are literally 2 minutes walking distance to the beach. The pool was a welcome respite from the hot sun. It was clean and refreshing. We spent most of our breakfasts, lunches and dinners cooking as a family in the house ( why spend the money). When I say this kitchen has every appliance you could need to cook for 11, it did! It was well stocked with all the necessary items (I’ve asked my family for the same blender for Christmas loved it!!) The bedrooms were large, and I have to admit the beds were so comfortable (this often isn’t the case). Lastly, although you’re not right no the water, you can see the ocean from the 3rd floor balcony. We spent lots of time on the porches which had nice resin chairs. The 3rd floor enclosed patio was amazing especially when a night thunderstorm rolled through. It was simply gorgeous to watch and stay dry. We will be back to the OBX, and my family would love to stay in this gem in the OBX.

Nice home, plenty of room. A few minor cleaning issues like food crumbs under furniture, a few hairs around the shower and sticky hand rails. Still trying to resolve the overcharge problem with VRBO.

Great stay at Waves

The house was perfect for the two families that rented. It was impeccably clean and the pool and hot tub were an awesome addition. We loved the peacefulness of the location and the proximity to the beach. The house had just about everything we needed - we would definitely stay there again.

Great House, but….

In general, enjoyed our stay and the town!HOUSE: Had plenty of room, was exceptionally clean, and had thoughtful touches like nightlights, a clothes line, and extra hooks throughout. Elevator is outside which was weird but OK. BEACH: Access is best for able bodies: that dune is quite steep. The walk to the beach is a bit longer than I was hoping for, especially with gear. BOOKING: We experienced a price discrepancy after booking through VRBO. SSR did not honor the booked price, the supervisor never returned my call, and I spent 3 months pursuing a refund w/ VRBO. CHECKIN/CHECKOUT: Easy. SSR is a "well-oiled machine." THE TOWN: Rodanthe itself is a bit lackluster - there are few local shops/eateries/creameries so be prepared to drive 20 mins to activities or dining options. There is a bike path that travels along the main road but not too much is around to explore. Some of the camping areas seemed great and there is a sound access nearby which the kids loved (felt like a lake). Rodanthe is definitely on “island time”; if “seen-better-days” beach town is your vibe, you came to the right place.

Great place for a large loud family.

We did a family vacation with 4 siblings that have their own families. Each family had a very nice room and it was quit upstairs when the youngest teens were playing pool. Short walk to beach 1/2 block. Not a lot of tourist like the northern island, very nice and quite.

Fun in the sun

Great property. This was our first time renting Down By The Sea. There were eight of us in total, four adults and four children between the ages of 8-14. The house was more than big enough to accommodate our group. The kitchen was well stocked for cooking our own meals. Short walk to the beach/ocean and when we weren’t there we were using the pool. There was also plenty of room in the yard for playing catch or cornhole.

Great time

The house was beautiful and great location. Everything we needed was minutes away. I wanted to say a special thank you to the pool guy, he found our wedding ring and placed it on the picnic table for us to see when we returned from the beach.

Short walk to the beach

House was great, a few cleanliness issues, overall was good though. We weren't able to use the pool due to the pool key wasn't left for us to get in the gate, but the beach and surrounding area kept us busy.
