Good time
My sister and I brought our 85 yo mother to watch our nephew(her grandson) play baseball for Louisiana Tech! The owners were awesome to deal with!! VERY HELPFUL! The house is old but nice and the location was the best! Thank you

Great weekend getaway
The house was perfect for a weekend stay to see my son at La. Tech. The house was used as a wedding/photography venue so there are beautiful professional pics all around the house. We ordered out and enjoyed our meal in the beautiful dining room. The antique furnishings fit the historic home. We enjoyed the cat who came up to visit every morning. It was easy to communicate with the owner.

3 night stay
We were in town for softball games at LA Tech. After arriving after a late game, the owner messaged me at 11 pm asking about the number of guests. She saw us on the cameras. We had 4 instead of 3 people. The owner then told me she was going to charge me double since I didn't let her know when making the reservations. I did not see that there was a $15 charge for each additional person. We were not charged the extra $90 only $45 after I explained that I did not know about the additional charge per person. The property has a lot of room, however, it needs some attention (peeling plaster and wallpaper and the driveway is in bad shape). It was not very clean and then downstairs does not cool off. We had the thermostat down to 68 and it never went under 74.

First of all I would like to say I sent you a message that my housekeepers had just found some peeling wallpaper on the ceiling. I apologized for it and said we would not bother you, but would have it repaired after your visit. But you had to point that out in order to say something negative. You obviously do not read your correspondence or in a timely manner. I went back and looked and saw that I messaged you about the extra guest at 1:22 pm. You did not read it and reply until 11:00 pm. It is not my fault that you did not read about the extra guest charge. It is definitely there in my listing. You did later say you did go back and find it. All you had to do was to enter the correct number of guest. The place was certainly not dirty! We pride ourselves in cleanliness. That is why we are rated the highest rating as property owners. Anyone can see from our other reviews that the place is not dirty. You just got your feathers ruffled because I pointed out to you that you had not paid for an extra guest. This is the exact reason that we have outdoor cameras. Believe me you are not the first. The home just appraised for $650,000 so it is really not too shabby! I am sure if I came to your home I could find some imperfections. By the way I gave you a 5 Star review and did not point out that you brought an extra person.

I am glad you enjoyed your stay. We appreciate you choosing Meadows Manor. There is a tub mat in the bathroom closet. Most guest remove it so we started leaving it in the closet.

This property is primarily a wedding venue, not primarily an overnight rental.
When traveling, part of the joy is to enter a clean welcoming space where there is room to relax, unpack, and a place to set the items used in everyday life. This house did not provide any of this. The “parlor” is furnished with older furniture, in keeping with the age of the house. This is wonderful for photo ops or for perching to talk with an acquaintance. There is no place to curl up with a book, lounge in pajamas and enjoy a glass of wine, or to share a movie with your family. There was no luggage rack or unadorned table on which to set a suitcase; there were no hangers in the wardrobe. Counter space and table tops throughout the house were either already used for nick-nacks or the tools of the wedding venue business run out of this same space. I contacted Faye to ask some questions and to let her know that we were disappointed. She was unable to talk at that time but was willing to text. Her response was defensive, saying that she has never had anyone that wasn’t happy, that her guests have loved the property and thanked her for sharing it with them. She was not hearing that we had concerns. There was a broken windowpane, peeling paint, peeling wallpaper, a corroded drain in the kitchen sink, an unused chandelier on the floor of the parlor, bare lightbulbs in a light fixture with the glass covering for the light fixture sitting on the desk, all of which I sent her pictures. After sending pictures of what looked like a year’s worth of dead bugs in the windowsill, toilet bowl rings in both bathrooms, an air conditioning intake vent caked with dust, Faye did not communicate with me for three days. On the third day she informed me that she had called VRBO and had me red flagged as a “do not rent”. We were ready to walk away from the money we had spent. We did ask for a refund because VRBO said that was our only recourse. Because we asked for a refund, I was accused of searching for something wrong with the property, that Faye was certain that I had found a cheaper place to stay and had to figure out a way to get our money back. Again, rather than speak with me, she claimed she had red flagged me with VRBO.

Beautiful, Quiet Location
This bungalow is quiet and is more beautiful than the photos credits it! The neighborhood is ideal and all the amenities of home are there! Owners are very responsive and prompt!

Carita was not only the perfect guest but once we met it was as if we had always known each other. She graciously shared her talents when she saw a need in a community project that is going to make a huge impact to our town. Being a host gives me the opportunity to fabulous experiences and special new friends. Carita will always be more than a guest and we look forward to the return of our dear friend.
