Good choice for a stay in St-Denis

Conveniently located near the centre of town, Le Juliette Dodu is a charming and comfortable hotel in a characterful Creole mansion. The only criticisms to make are that the bar staff are somewhat amateurish and the food in the restaurant is very limited in choice and poor in quality by Réunion standards. However, on Sunday evening there is very little choice as almost all restaurants in the city are closed.

This hotel is cozy and makes you feel like you are home. As a solo traveller I really enjoyed the feeling this hotel gives you. It is in a great location, quiet to sleep, lovely pool, good breakfast, clean room and very friendly staff. Just up the road is a grocery store and other restaurants are close by. I am English so I found all the French signs rather confusing. I didn’t understand the menu but that is maybe more my fault as this is in a French country. Only one English Channel on the TV. The room was on the small side but I wasn’t in it much and you want to sit in the common areas as they are so inviting. I couldn’t open my large suitcase on the floor but as I was on my own I made it work. I was able to borrow a kettle as the room didn’t have one. No fridge in the room. Bed was very comfortable. I would certainly stay here again and I really loved my entire experience of this hotel.

Le Juliette Dodu est un hôtel de charme bien situé au coeur du quartier du Barachois à Saint Denis. Si la chambre est un peu petite et, orientée vers la rue, plutôt bruyante, le personnel y est très accueillant et souriant, à l'écoute des demandes. Disposant d'une voiture de location, nous avons apprécié de pouvoir la garer dans le parking de l'hôtel, au nombre de places plutôt restreint. Ayant opté pour la demi-pension, nous avons apprécié le repas du soir, aux saveurs locales et le petit déjeuner, plutôt varié.
