This home was recently built on a peaceful 10 acre parcel surrounded by cottonwoods, aspens and small creek. Beautiful views of Mt Shavano. A large wrap around porch allows for ample outdoor lounging and wildlife viewing. Enjoy walking the property, playing frisbee, corn hole or simply relaxing. The home is new with custom touches such as beetle kill tongue and groove inside and out. The cozy interior includes large vaulted ceilings and open living space. A Scandinavian propane stove provides ample ambiance and warmth after a day spent on the slopes. In floor heating throughout. Master bedroom has abundant light and attached bath. The loft includes built in cabin style lounging and sleeping with massive views of the mountains. 20 minutes to Monarch ski area and 15 minutes to downtown Salida. Close to Elevation Brewery and Vino Salida. World class skiing, fishing, hiking and mountain biking is minutes away . TESLA Supercharger located 3 miles away in Poncha Springs, free EV charging in town or charge your EV at our electric pedestal with an appropriate adapter.

Loved the house. Great little cabin with excellent bones, spaces, and furnishings. Care was given when they designed and built the cabin and it shows. It's not far from the highway, but it's tucked back in its own valley and felt secluded, safe, and authentic. The bed situation was a little unusual for our particular group, but we made it work. We will be back.

Redtail Hideaway is an exquisite retreat from the world. Nestled in a secluded valley it is a private location with ample room for a family to spread out or play together. The covered patio is amazing as are the simple, quality details of the construction and style. The beds are comfortable with clean, cozy linens and soft pillows. A variety of games for indoor and outdoor fun are available for multiple ages and the peace of the natural surroundings offered multiple deer sightings as well as redtail hawks circling and calling. This is a property worth spending time at! You might not even want to venture out on the trails. Just snuggle in and relax!

We cannot say enough great and positive things about this CUTE cabin! From the minute we laid eyes on it, we were struck by the attention to detail and welcoming feel of this cabin. The cabin was decorated very nicely and offered everything we could possibly need during our stay. Comfortable bedding, hot showers, upscale kitchen appliances, and fabulous wrap around porch with plenty of comfortable seating and hummingbird feeders for our simple entertainment. The location was secluded, yet very convenient to Salida. I wish we could stay a year!

The home is gorgeous, modern, very well-provisioned and thought out for visitors, and nice location for both Monarch and town. We loved our stay. Luxurious modern cabin - yes please!

Our family enjoyed our stay at this house while skiing at Monarch. Close to the mountain and to town yet private with beautiful views. House was very clean and well appointed.

perfect blend of seclusion and proximity to activities

Our stay at this beautifully appointed home was a highlight of our Colorado summer travels. We appreciated the thought and care that went in to preparing the kitchen and the spaces for relaxing and for meals both indoors and out. The private location in a draw with mountain views in both directions was really inviting, and great to return to after the many activities in the area. We definitely want to stay again.

Exactly what I was looking for!

I was looking for a comfortable place to spend a few weeks during the summer, a place where I could prepare my own meals I a well stocked kitchen, and be close enough to Salida and Buena Vista to take advantage of all they have to offer. The hosts were welcoming and accessible, and it was a wonderfully relaxing time for me. It was perfect!

Enjoyable Stay

Vicki’s and Scott’s place is ideal for a family retreat. The home is situated on a large lot and beautifully nestled in nature. All you see around you are trees, mountains, and, quite often, a family of deer. Inside, everything is of top quality, with cozy heated floors, lovely bathrooms featuring high-end fixtures, a beautiful master bedroom with a well-organized walk-in closet, and a well-equipped kitchen, among other things. The tasteful decorations reflect the spirit of the local culture and the love the owners put into building and organizing this home. It was a great pleasure returning to this place after a full day of skiing.

A Little Slice of Mountain Heaven

We had an absolutely lovely time on this property! We wish we'd had more time to enjoy all the deck space. We found everything very comfortable and were impressed with the thoughtfulness of design, decoration, and house provisions. The "neighborhood" was so quiet, it was easy to enjoy the peaceful surroundings and stargaze. It was great to have a small trail on property! We'd certainly book again if/when we come back to the area.

Great Cabin

Wow! This property was perfect. The cabin was very clean and is decorated very nicely! The kitchen has everything you need, from the great selection of spices to utensils to the filtered water, and is well organized. The heated floors were a nice surprise. The location was secluded but close to Monarch. If you stay here do not miss Mountain Spirit winery just a mile or so away, try the port dessert wine!

Absolutely perfect!

We absolutely enjoyed our stay at this beautiful property. We loved the location because it was private and quiet, but very close to town and everything Salida has to offer. The owners have thought of every detail to make you feel at home. My favorite is the wrap around porch with the mountain view and deer that frequented the property (so many hummingbirds this time of year too!). It was quiet and absolutely perfect. Owners were kind and communication was quick and easy. We wouldn't hesitate to rent again - highly recommend.

Beautiful Place of Silence and Solitude

This property is the best of all worlds. Its location in a quiet valley just miles from Salida is a stunning landscape of mountains, farms, and ranches. Tucked away on a wooded patch of ground, one can forget that there's a hectic, demanding world beyond. Everything about this property is just as described. Clean and inviting, it is well-appointed with everything one needs for a quiet (very quiet) stay. If you're traveling to the area, you should definitely consider this as your place to stay.

House is very nice, well equipped with items that you use. I didn’t notice when looking at the pictures of the rooms that the single beds are close to the floor. .It was a challenge getting out of the of bed for the senior citizens which was in our party. The knats invaded the bathroom on the main floor. Lots of black bugs on the sink and tub. Loved the location, easy to get to

Perfect home away from home stay

Everything about Scott & Vicki’s place is even better than the listing details show. We couldn’t have picked a more peaceful setting to enjoy our stay in CO. The house is well cared for with so much more than expected. Easy in/out and great communication with our hosts. They have things very well covered with all that is provided. We enjoyed the house layout to gather or enjoy quiet time alone. The large deck wrapped around three sides of the house was so nice to enjoy the views and outdoor resident deer, rabbits, chipmunks, and variety of birds. The flowers around the house were a perfect fit to showcase the house in the quiet wilderness surrounding it. We hiked the trail around the property, enjoyed the hammock/picnic area, and had some rousing matches of corn hole as a family. WI-FI was good with multiple devices online and streaming/surfing at times when we weren’t enjoying everything else about the property or our CO stay. The location is a great point to start from in multiple directions. Everywhere we went, we saw different character showcasing the beautiful state of CO. The mountains, the basins, the rivers, the waterfalls, the sunrises and sunsets - all fantastic! Thank you Scott & Vicki for offering your wonderful property and home!! We are very thankful to be able to stay with you and will keep it on our favorites to visit again in the future!
