"It was an amazing place! We loved the pools, the food and the ambience. Staff were amazing too only had one or two that were inattentive or didn’t want to help you. Our room was incredible. Just beautiful. Water machine, espresso machine. We loved it! "
Private, spacious, well-equipped & luxurious retreat. Perfect for large groups.
10/10 Excellent
"Our family of four kids and four adults had an absolutely wonderful time at Casa Mesakeca! Everything was exactly as described in the listing, right down to the visits from howler monkeys and the proximity to an excellent beach. When the power went out our first night (not a typical occurrence), the property managers were incredibly responsive and fixed it immediately. I can't recommend Casa and Samara highly enough!"
Luxury by the Beach - Great for Families or Multiple Couples
10/10 Excellent
"Our group of 4 couples and several children really enjoyed our stay. Overall it was great. We were bummed that the bikes were in pretty bad disrepair so we were not able to use them, but we quickly realized that we didn't need them as walking and driving was the best way to get around. The access to the beach was great, the grounds were beautiful, and the pool was perfect. We had monkeys playing in the trees surrounding the properties almost every day. It was super hot when we were there so the air conditioning struggled to keep it as cool as we would have liked, but not much you can do about that. The rooms got nice and cool at night so that was great. Paul was a great host and the property managers were communicative and helpful. We look forward to hopefully visiting again - maybe during the wet season when it's not so hot and dry."
"Excellent location. Other reviews are accurate. However, There are two locations for this hotel. one is near the main road - that is where the pool is and it is a small pool so we didn't end up using it. Our room was on the second floor overlooking the beach area which was as advertised. Excellent breakfast included. Staff were great. It is a small town so easy access to everything."
"Was a bit disappointed with our stay here. I’d read that the rooms were a bit dated, but it was rundown in aspects as well. The window in our bathroom had a broken hinge, the towels were old and tattered, the faucet discoloured, but the worst part was the bugs in the room. There was an ant (?) infestation - they’d burrowed a few holes into the bathroom doorframe and they were coming in and out of them and we found them in various places around the room. There were other various bugs we found over the three nights, so never felt settled. I know this is a tropical area, but we didn’t encounter this to this degree elsewhere.
That said, the staff were very nice and when we went to the front desk about the ants they came and sprayed the room. Unfortunately, we still found stragglers and other new bugs during the rest of our stay.
The hotel is within walking distance to a beach, but we ultimately preferred other beaches with vendors and amenities, which required a drive either to Carrillo or central Samara. "
"We had a wonderful time in Viilla #8. The staff were friendly, the property was well kept, the rooms were clean and had everything we needed to be able to cook in the villa. The beach and stores were in walking distance (great location!). We loved our outdoor space, where we ate, read on the hammock or hung out in the sitting area. Thank you!
¡Gracias!"
"This hotel is good for their large pool, large parking lot, and direct beach location. It also has a modest breakfast included. The building itself is old and needs maintenance. The room had an opening to the outside in the bathroom so the bathroom was always hot. The a/c in the bedroom turned on but didn’t cool the room much, when we advised the staff we were told that it doesn’t work so good when it’s hot and that locals dont have any a/c. There wasn’t wifi in the room so you had to either sit out on the balcony in the heat for it or sit by the reception or pool to connect. The pool was large and clean however lots of the loungers were broken so you had to prop them up using sticks from the beach. There is a nice bar/restaurant beside the hotel. This hotel would be betterwhen it’s cooler and a/c isn’t needed to sleep. Most rooms have 1 or 2 flights of stairs to get to. "
"Overall we had a good stay. The house is about 10 minutes from downtown, which made getting around easy, and the gated entrance added a sense of security. The pool was great to cool off in after being out during the day, and we appreciated having access to a washer and dryer.A few things future guests may want to know. The home could benefit from some updates, and it would be helpful if the host provided a binder with house information. For example, guidance about not flushing toilet paper and instructions for the air conditioning would make things clearer. The house does not come stocked with extra supplies, so plan to purchasing basics things like hand soap, shampoo, conditioner, body wash, laundry detergent, and trash bags. Also note the washer and dryer cannot run at the same time or the power may trip. You will definitely hear the local wildlife in the mornings, roosters, monkeys, cicadas, and the occasional dog barking, which is part of the local environment. Two of the three beds are very firm, so keep that in mind if you prefer a softer mattress. We chose this property mainly because it was close to family, which worked well for our trip."
