"All staff were very helpful. I’m not rating with 5 stars just because the check in took long time, as well because the bathroom in the room smelled terrible. They should ad a lid on top of the shower’s drainage to avoid the return of those fetid odors. We put toilet paper to avoid keep smelling that. Besides that all was very good in price, amenities, the views and the quality of food and drinks "

"Excelente hotel para ir en familia, muy acogedor y muy amable el personal. Nos recibió Manuel, el día que llegamos super tarde, y nos esperaba para acomodarnos, sabía muy bien que íbamos con una niña pequeña, así que un muy buen recibimiento. Los dormitorios muy bien aseados y se notaba que estaban bien fumigados, sin insectos ni nada, a pesar de estar en la selva, las comidas del restaurante muy buenas en relación calidad y precio. Muy acogedor el entorno y entretenido para andar con niños."

"Great few days spent here! I recommend staying 2-3 nights... depending on when you arrive, because I highly recommend Semuc Champey and the bat caves (Grutas de Lanquin) which are hard to do in the same day. El Retiro made meals and excursions very worry-free. My only negatives would be the lack of hot water and the cleanliness of the bed, room. It wasn’t very dirty... just wasn’t very clean. Overall a very enjoyable few days spent in Lanquin."
