"Kettle had mould and stank. Bedroom curtains didnt were broken so we couldn't close them. Then the tv wasnt working. The ac wasnt working either. The staff responded but they were busy so took to come long on each instance. Disaster. We slept terribly on account of ac being broken. Pillows stank. "

"The design is minimalist and clean. The rooms and the entire place are spotless. You only see staff at breakfast and cleaning. Breakfast isn't very good, the food is mediocre, there isn't much variety, and it's very crowded. It feels more like an Airbnb than a hotel; you handle your own check-in."

C4 Retreats is a freshly renovated boutique guesthouse in the heart of Xagħra — one of Gozo's most charming villages, steps away from the historic Xagħra Square. It's small, intimate, and everything a stay on this island should feel like. We ended up extending to two nights — which says everything. Gozo moves at its own pace, and C4 fits that perfectly. The property is new, clean, and well thought out, with a rooftop pool and terrace that make it easy to never want to leave. Restaurants, cafés, and local shops are all within a short walk. If you're looking for a quiet escape from the busier side of Malta, this is exactly the place. Highly recommended — and honestly, book as many nights as you can."

"The apartment is very spacious, well equipped, comfortable and the view down the valley towards Ramla Beach is lovely. We arrived on a terrible evening and when we visited the local shop to stock up,10 minutes walk, they insisted on driving us home! The same the next visit. Ramla is a lovely beach and the 20 minute walk is pleasant. Patrick’s recommendations for places to eat were excellent. "

"We were really excited about our trip to Gozo, but unfortunately this villa fell far short of expectations. The property was unclean throughout from the moment we arrived. Cupboard handles and even the TV remote were sticky, the showers were dirty to the point we chose to wash outside, and there was old food left under the furniture.Things went from bad to worse when we discovered mice inside. After pest control was called, we then had dead mice to deal with. On top of that, ants were everywhere. Beds and furniture were old, uncomfortable, and in desperate need of new mattresses. Outside, one of the sun loungers was positioned right next to a drain hole full of foul-smelling waste — not exactly the relaxing holiday vibe we’d hoped for.Check-in was another frustration. After a long journey, we couldn’t access the villa until 3pm. We offered to wait by the pool, but were told we weren’t allowed, so we had to drag our luggage around the village with nothing open — uncomfortable and not guest-friendly. The one positive was the privacy of the location, which is why we stayed put even after they offered to move us following the mouse incident (the alternative villa was much less private and too far away). The staff did apologise repeatedly, but apologies don’t make up for such a consistently poor experience.Sadly, this villa needs a complete overhaul in cleanliness, maintenance, before it could be recommended. Until then, I would strongly suggest looking elsewhere."
