V Capri Palm Springs, a Dolce by Wyndham

"The V is very well situated on a quieter stretch of Palm Springs, close to most spots my husband and I like to frequent and can easily walk to. For this reason we often choose to stay here. That said, this is a mostly no frills type property; it’s basic in a millennial modern style best defined by colors like black, white and gray. It’s got odd vinyl flooring in place of hard wood or carpet, probably because it’s less expensive and easier to maintain given the high traffic of people coming in and out of the pool. It’s overall clean, albeit wear and tear is showing in different stages across rooms. Our latest stay included a room with one of the loudest a/c units ever encountered. If you are sensitive to sounds/noise, you will likely find this unbearable like myself and husband. It truly sounded like a plane engine. Eventually, we had to choose between the anxiety inducing volume, or turning it off and dealing with the heat. We settled on turning it on to cool the room, then off when trying to sleep. Needless to say, we didn’t feel much rest and relaxation. I can deal with the slightly too soft mattresses, wear around the edges, and weak water pressure while showering. I again really appreciate the price point, location, ease of parking, onsite restaurant. But the a/c unit unfortunately caused us too much discomfort this time around. In hindsight we should have asked about moving to a different room. It’s unclear if the same a/c units are used throughout the property."

"Overall, I had a relaxing and pleasant stay at this hotel. Check-in and check-out were both smooth and easy, and the bellman was especially helpful throughout our stay. I also really appreciated the housekeeping staff — the rooms were consistently kept clean, and it was always nice coming back to freshly made bedding and restocked clean towels. The surrounding area was also a huge plus, with plenty of shops and restaurants nearby to visit and enjoy. The pool was refreshing and added a nice touch to our stay as well. That said, there were a few downsides. The pool curfew being at 10 PM felt a bit early, especially for a resort-style stay. Some of the room features also felt outdated, and the hairdryer definitely needs replacing. I was also disappointed that guests were not informed ahead of time that two out of the three pools would be closed due to an event during our stay. In addition, the property phones and listed phone numbers were not working, which was frustrating when trying to contact the front desk. Despite a few inconveniences, I would stay here again for a casual and relaxing getaway. As well as trying out the spa.:)"

"This Quality Inn your basic, no frills accommodation that looks like it could use some sprucing up. Apparently the present owners are looking to sell the property so any improvements would be borne by the new owners. The room has a single king bed (comfy), air conditioning (worked well keeping the room at a comfy temp), a bathroom (with shampoo and conditioner), vanity (with blow dryer, coffee maker), wardrobe (with clothes hangers, iron and ironing board), fridge, microwave, flat screen tv and a lounge area with an easy chair. Basic amenities. Room is spacious but carpet is worn in areas. The bath tub and shower head looks like someone tried to do a botched repair job. The shower works which is a plus. Breakfast is meh but better than nothing. Parking is free (another plus) and plentiful. There is a pool (another plus) but I didn’t use it. Location is walking distance to a lot of good restaurants and grocery stores. Essentially, it’s your basic inn with no frills."

"Hotel was very well located, just off the main strip of downtown. Steps to bars and restaurants. Rooms and lobby were clean and sharp, but the hallways, stairs, and elevators (exposed style) were weathered and tired looking. Exception was the mini-fridge in the room which was unstable while trying to be retro. Staff was OK, check-in was a bit strange, as the night clerk seemed a bit out of it. The luggage rack in the room collapsed spectacularly when I tried to put my (carry-on) suitcase on it, but even though I let the staff know and left it outside, it was not replaced or repaired during my stay."
