The house itself was fine and in a great location. It was within walking distance of the beach and several restaurants, which we really appreciated. The home was moderately clean upon arrival- most areas were clean, although we noticed that under the beds had not been swept.Unfortunately, our experience was significantly impacted by the host's handling of an ongoing water shortage in the area. We were informed of the water issue by the departing upstairs guests before receiving any communication from the host. While we understand that the water shortage itself was outside the host's control, we believe the severity of the situation should have been disclosed prior to our arrival.Throughout our stay, there were multiple promises of solutions and water deliveries that ultimately did not resolve the issue. After spending five days without reliable running water, we contacted VRBO and were relocated. The most frustrating part of our experience was the refund process. The host offered a 30% refund for the affected nights and a refund for the unused portion of our stay, but the refund calculations changed multiple times and included charges that did not apply to our reservation, making it difficult to understand the final amounts. We recognize that the area was experiencing an emergency situation and our low rating is not because of the water shortage itself. Rather, it reflects our experience with the communication, disclosure, and handling of the situation by the host.
