"Location is incredible, and you could tell the hotel was trying to do improvements. Room amenities are basic, but enough for what we required. There were some points of cleanliness in the room that were left to be desired - dirty carpet, bathroom. Bed linens and towels were clean. Breakfast was great. Hotel staff were all friendly in our encounters. All things considered, we would stay at this property again."

"After 30+ years of staying on the island, this is by far the worst hotel I’ve ever stayed at. At check-in, we were told the property was nonsmoking. We got our keys and walked around the corner only to be hit in the face with a smell that would be comparable to being at a Willie Nelson concert. The hallway carpet is extremely nasty and the elevator closest to the front desk smelled as though someone had been living in it for months without bathing. We found a second elevator that we used after that. It smelled better, but someone had peeled an orange inside and threw the peel in the corner. The peel layed there 2 days & was still there when we left. Neither elevator had an inspection certificate in it. The only good thing is that our room was clean. We had already made the decision that if the room was as bad as the rest of the hotel, we were leaving. The tv in the room had 3 or 4 channels & the remote would not allow you to change inputs so that we could cast a movie or anything to watch. Overall, the hotel is very rundown. It appears they are attempting to do some renovations, but whoever they have hired does poor quality work. I took pictures and videos & would be more than happy to share."

"It was a special day for me and my date (a surprise for her) for my 51st birthday, and although we arrived roughly 15 minutes before checkin...our room was not close to being ready. We had to wait for a call to let us know when we could go to our room. Although the staff were amazingly nice...they offered an immediate checkin to a room that had lesser amenities and not as nice...without a discount. Again, they ladies were top notch, but I presumed maybe a complementary drink at the bar while we waited or a comped room service drink order once we checked in...and they did ask, but were told no because we were technically early. But, it was over an hour after check in time when we received the call the room was ready. Im not asking for a refund or complaining about the actual stay but, it ruined the moment persay and we felt ...outside of the front desk employees... we were not compensated even with something small...to reconcile the inconvenience. Other equally nice hotels would have offered something to show gratitude. We didn't make a scene and would go back...but I believe the customer service was lacking in that area. Thank you. Holiday Inn Resort: Galveston-On The Beach by IHG

"The hotel was in a great location (directly across from the beach). The room was clean and there was a microwave and mini fridge. There were daily activities for the kiddos and there is a restaurant and bar on site. Check in was smoothie and the front desk staff was helpful and nice. There is a foot wash and an outdoor shower to use when you return from the beach. Overall we enjoyed our stay."

"Overall, the hotel is great. We had a little hiccup the first night when pulling out the sofa bed - We discovered that the underside of the sofa bed hadn’t been cleaned in a while. There was a ton of crumbs and little critter carcasses on the mattress. We also discovered a few dead tiny roaches on one of the mattresses in one bedroom. The hotel staff were super kind, however, and did come and sanitize the next day. The rest of our stay went off without a hitch - And I would definitely stay here again, just double triple check your mattresses."
