São Francisco do Sul is the oldest city in the State of Santa Catarina and the third oldest city in Brazil. It was colonized by Portuguese and Spanish. The first Brazilian Indian to tread on European soil was from here. It has the fifth largest port in Brazil and in the summer is much sought after by its beaches. In the Historic Center, in addition to appreciating the settlement resulting from the Portuguese colonization, it is worthwhile to visit the Mother Church Nossa Senhora da Graça, the Municipal Market of 1900 and the National Museum of the Sea which is the only museum in Brazil of Brazilian vessels.

"This place was dirty, had ants on the walls, the sink and the microwave. The AC unit was loud and if used for over an hr, will start to leak down the wall. The couch was dirty and filled with crumbs. the blanket they provide had gunk dried something on it.
