The riverside and rainforest setting was lovely and we enjoyed short hikes on the trails around the lodge. The staff was attentive, friendly, and competent. The food was consistently excellent. The suite was cozy and comfortable.

I felt like a member of a very caring family
in a beautiful well cared for environment.
The paths are pebble, which keeps creepie crawlies out and lets the rain drain properly.
The Eco-retreat has
I wish we booked a whole week here room was amazing. Right in middle of forest.

Stayed for two nights. Staff are very helpful and pleasant. The lodge is situated close to the river which is good for swimming and has it's own forest reserve. We did two very enjoyable guided walks on the reserve with local guides who were extremely knowledgeable.
We stayed in the family room which was rather rustic but plenty big enough for a family of four. The main frustration was the cold shower which didn't get fixed despite reporting on the first day. Breakfast was good, dinner is an optional buffet and is not worth it.
The setting is lovely with beautiful trails and riverside-views. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful, setting up tours and answering questions. The food was top notch with great plant-forward options. The riverside room had AC which was an added perk. Although the room itself was fairly basic, it was very clean and met our needs to be able to enjoy the surroundings.
Beautiful place but no a/c and it gets hot. No screens so we did get mosquitoes and gnats in the room because we had to keep the windows open. The staff and the food were great!
It was amazing. It was serene. Really a place to be still and quiet as there’s no tv. A place to talk and relax more. The receptionist and everyone you came across was very nice. Offered recommendation for eateries. highly recommend if you’re looking to unwind and connect with nature.
Lovey eco lodge really working with the environment. Fabulous staff, couldn’t do enough for you. Lovely breakfasts, healthy locally sourced dinner buffet and tea and coffee all day long. Tours on offer were great too- we did the bird walk and saw so much that we would have missed! Rafting with Rios fabulous. Yes the rooms are a little basic but all in keeping with the ethos of the place. You will not be disappointed!

Chilamate was cheaper than some of the other places we stayed and we loved the location in the rainforest. Plus the night walk we did was exceptional and the rafting guide they recommended was really good. The lodge we felt was a bit run down and our room not that welcoming (stained sheets, very dark) although maybe ok for the cost. The evening meal was also expensive vs local restaurants. In short, amazing location but don’t expect luxury.
Staff is fabulous, super friendly and helpful. Liked the breakfast and home cooked dinner. The covered walk ways and ubiquity if provided umbrellas are great when it's pouring buckets. Nice touch to provide rubber boots for forest walking.
The walls between some rooms are super thin which can be annoying with noisy neighbors.
This was an inexpensive option for our family to stay in Sarapiqui. The property is interesting because of the covered pathways and proximity to two miles of rainforest trails, and we spied frogs, howler monkeys, iguana, caterpillars, etc. Breakfast was wonderful. There is no air conditioning or hot water, which was fine for us. Wet clothes will take a looooong time to hang dry. We are a family of 6, and I thought from photos that we would likely have a room with bunk beds. Instead we were given two rooms, and that worked for us.

We spent a wonderful five nights here in a family room and it was a truly immersive rainforest experience we will never forget. You are deep in the forest and an abundance of wildlife is all around-including some in your room or on your terrace so you need to be comfortable with that. We saw many toucans, hummingbirds, howler monkeys, an anteater, possums, and many jungle insects right from our room and immediately outside it, The howler monkeys wake you at 5am every day with deafening calls which is really special- just don’t expect a lie- in! Facilities are basic and a bit run down and be prepared to be wet and muddy all the time, particularly if you do the resort’s trails into the jungle,- quite overgrown and not well marked unlike some of the larger rainforest attractions, so lots of care needed and not for the faint hearted. The staff is amazing and really made our stay magical, They were all so knowledgeable and helpful and really went out of their way to chat and make sure we had everything we needed, particularly Sergio and Suri. Breakfast and dinner were lovely buffets with a huge amount of choice of both local and international foods. I would only note two things for improvement about our stay- firstly would be to change the bed linen after 2-3 days for guests staying longer like us as the constant humidity and dirt makes it needed. Secondly to tell guests at check in how to radio security at night if required as no staff are on site at night.
Very friendly staff! Thanks Sergio for your kindness.
The rooms could need a little refreshment to enjoy more the stay, but the place is very cool! And food delicious
This is very good value accommodation in a beautiful setting. Our room was simple but very clean. The staff were friendly and the home cooked diner and breakfast were good. The owners work closely to support the local community and so it feels really nice to stay here and support their great work.
