Best/Magnificent Sarlat Vacation Home!
This holiday home exceeded our expectations in every regard. First, let me share that Anna is a wonderful lady who greeted us in a most generous fashion- a wonderful loaf of bread, a bag of delicious local walnuts, and other nice surprises! She made us feel more like guests than renters. Anna spoke enough English to swiftly and effectively "orient" us to the vacation property (many European appliances can be "tricky" to figure out, for the uninitiated).
Our party of 2 couples was comprised of "foodies" and the kitchen was phenomenally equipped to meet our needs. Yes, we cooked many meals here, including some fabulous beef on one of 2 outdoor charcoal grills.
The accommodations are first class- very comfortable beds, plenty of room to dine indoors or out; and the pool was a hit on 2 days that reached nearly 90 degrees.
Anna takes great pride in this home- maintaining the gardens, home, and pool meticulously. Several mornings I woke up early (before 7AM) and a gentleman was silently going about his business of sweeping and maintaining the pool. Another morning, a fellow came and sprayed the roses (which are simply beautiful).
Finally, the location of this home was absolutely ideal. 2 blocks to a complete grocery store with nice wines and a full selection of beer; along with anything you might need to prepare pretty outrageous meals. Only 5 minutes to the very enchanting and historic medieval town of Sarlat (with awesome cafes and restaurants); and a 25 minute drive to see amazing castes & cliff dwellings, as well as cave art dating to 14,000 years ago!
We had spent several days in Dublin, then in Paris prior to taking a train to Brive, and then a rental car (45 minutes drive) to Sarlat.
I encourage you to avail yourself of this idyllic rental; and recommend it highly!
