A Memorable Anniversary at Glamping Site
Gary was a wonderful host who went above and beyond to make our 15-year anniversary truly special. From the moment we arrived at the glamping site, he greeted us with warmth and enthusiasm. His passion for hospitality was evident as he patiently explained how everything worked, ensuring we felt comfortable and well taken care of. But Gary’s talents extended beyond hosting. As an amazing chef, he delighted our taste buds with a picnic basket that exceeded our expectations. The centerpiece was a delightful chicken salad, bursting with fresh flavors. The addition of German sausage provided a savory twist, perfectly complemented by a side of cheese and blueberries. And let’s not forget the thoughtful touch of including a cozy blanket in the basket—a small detail that made our experience even more memorable. It’s these little things that set Gary apart—the personalized attention, the culinary expertise, and the genuine care he put into every aspect of our visit. Awesome weekend Glamping!
My husband and I had an awesome weekend glamping! Gary was a wonderful host and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. I’ve camped before but this was so much easier with less items to bring. The yurt was very clean and the bed was comfortable. I appreciated the little touches such as books and games as well as a coffee maker with coffee, tea, water bottles, etc. we loved our complimentary bottle of wine too! We enjoyed Gary’s gourmet breakfast and desserts as well. The grounds are absolutely beautiful. It was cold outside but we were warm in the yurt with the heater that Gary provided. We had a lot of fun doing all the fun stuff in Helen such as visiting the German restaurants/bakery, the mill, winery and antique mall(which is 3 levels with great prices.) We also hiked Ana Ruby falls one day. It’s a great, short, paved hiked but steep. We even walked the short nature trail on the property one day, exploring the grounds. All and all we had a fantastic, short stay and plan to go back!

Great weekend getaway
Had a great stay up in the mountains with my dog. Gary was very friendly and accommodating. The tent was perfect, had plenty of space and everything I might have needed. The area is perfect for a quiet and secluded getaway with those you love.

Overall the property was good and we enjoyed our stay. The host was very friendly and we enjoyed sitting out at the fire pit at night. However, the light was out in the outhouse so it made using the potty at night more adventurous. There was also a huge spider web and spider in the shower area.

Perfect Escape

Peaceful and beautiful area!

Best Mini Vacay Excellent Host Award Needed
The property was exactly as described and more! It was very relaxing, we had Indian flute music in the morning. The babbling creek to lull us to sleep. Excellent location close to everything. Perfect spot for romantic getaway or family. Its simply PERFECT! AND the host he was AWESOME and very accommodating!

Thank you for your comments. Yes, with the leaves off of the trees this time of year you can see pretty far, but we like the fact that it is a private site and while the yurt is not deep in the woods I have to be somewhere around since I host the breakfasts and drinks. But a guest's privacy is paramount to our structure.

beautiful area, lovely stream, gracious host, and extremely cozy. exactly as described. the bathroom could have used a little cleaning but it was the off season so it probably didn't get much use recently. the hot tub wasn't quite hot when we arrived but the host extended the hours to use it due to the delay (again it was the off season and a pretty cold day). overall a great experience! will come again!

Anniversary Weekend
Try to plan on good weather. It rained before we arrived so the facilities were damp. I think that contributed to a slight odor around the tent. We ended up not staying. Overall, it just wasn't what we were looking for. That said, Gary was very accommodating and understanding. We arrived rather late in the night due to a work conflict and still he woke up to speak with us after we arrived.

We are glad they came. The yurt is bleached totally inside and out every quarter and hygienically cleaned after every guest the humidity in the air is most likely the cause of any smell . linens are placed only 2 hours pre arrival. I inquire of every guest if the yurt is suitable by personal inspection. So I can only think these folks aren't used to camping, but I think the pictures are very explicate.

Fabulous get away for our anniversary!
Had a nice relaxing stay. Campsite is private and surrounded by the peace and beauty of mother nature. Equipped with everything you need and lots of extras for a great camping experience! We can't say enough great things about Gary, he is the best host and a wonderful chef! We had the breakfast skillet and blueberry stuffed french toast both were delicious. Highly recommend his Brandy Alexander milkshake, also delicious! (so sweet of him to make them for our anniversary) We definitely enjoyed our stay and plan to return next fall. John & April Harlow

We went for an anniversary getaway. We thought the hot tub was going to be next to the tent but it was at the owner’s house. We’re we’re just expecting a little more remote spot. Also he has dogs. They are not kept enclosed and roam free over the property. The owner was super nice and stayed out of the way except for when e we needed something. Overall it was nice. We were just expecting a place that nobody could see us. Not the back yard of someone’s house. The property is gorgeous though. If you don’t want to get “wild” with your spouse then this is perfect.

It is always a shame when someone doesn't have their expectations met but to clarify, the Yurt is on a separate lot and is not in our back yard as we have 6 acres. It is a quarter of an acre away through the forest. Yes, the hot tub is closer to the pavilion which is next to the house. If all expectations were to be met the stay would be 3 times the price. I should also refer anyone to the majority of the reviews and ratings on customer satisfaction. I will be adding a video walk through of the property so that a clear look at the site is available for all to see. Come and enjoy and see for yourself.

This place was just what I wanted: woods, water, some nature trails, and plenty of room for freedom for my dog. I really enjoyed meeting and chatting with Gary. The Farmers breakfast and champagne under the stars were amazing. This place filled my soul. I’ll be back.

Amazing weekend
The place is exactly as pictured. The bed is nice, the shower is hot, the location is perfect, and Greg is a fantastic host. Our dog had a blast with his, and he made sure we had everything we needed or wanted. We literally started planning our next trip while still packing up from this one. We will definitely be coming back.

Top notch host and great location
My husband, 8 month old, dog and I all enjoyed our time at Gary's Glamp! Everyone enjoyed sitting in the creek that runs through the site. Helen, Unicoi state park and Ruby Falls all short drives and offer tons of fun activities.

The pictures don’t do it justice. It’s cozy and relaxing there. The stream is close and you can hear it the whole time. The host is attentive and so helpful if you need or want anything. Can’t wait to book again! Exceeded all expectations!

Excellent spot for couples!
The campsite is very private and the atmosphere is amazing. The sounds of the creek were peaceful and the campsite as a whole was nearly perfect. The site owner Gary does a wonderful job of making sure that you have a pleasant stay and he goes out of his way to do just that. He makes a wonderful breakfast and we thoroughly enjoyed it. Key points that we loved included sleeping in a real bed, the fire pit, strung up lights around the campsite to see at night, the creek and the exploration around it, on site keurig and coffee, grill, hot tub and games. Gary is super nice and such a wonderful host. We will definitely be going back!

A fantastic hideaway near many attractions
My entire stay here was fantastic, the glamping experience here lets you be as comfortable as possible while technically camping. The on site menu/activity list lets you enjoy your stay while on the property from Gary’s (delicious) cooking, to campfire chats, to relaxing by the creek, and many more amenities. There’s also plenty to explore in the nearby area (and Gary has great recommendations, so be sure to ask). I’m very pleased to have this be my first glamping experience and I don’t think I could’ve asked for anything more during my time here!

Great little spot
Spot was perfect for our camping weekend. Alot of attention paid to nature. Great little hiking area around the ferns and the bed was comfortable. The host was attentive, responded quickly and took care of all of our needs. I cannot describe how peaceful the water flowing through the creek was...just what we needed.

Relaxing and Beautiful Setting
Gary was so nice and met us as soon as we arrived to show us everything we needed to know about the 'Glamping' site. It was awesome to just show up, sit back and relax. The listing is spot on. Tent is setup like a mini hotel room which was so cool! We also purchased breakfast from our host and it was amazing! My husband and I really enjoyed our stay and are planning to go back.

First of all, the owner is really kind and was great to work with - he was especially patient and flexible with my party's late arrival and provided everything we needed. The tent fabric wasn't the cleanest, but it was very good at retaining heat on a very chilly night, and everything else was quite clean and well tended. The ambience of the lighting and softly rushing stream running through the camp was quite pleasant. The owner has a few very friendly, quiet dogs who kept us company as well! Overall we had a great stay!

The most amazing outdoor adventure!
Garry was an amazing host! He himself is the chef and he is amazing! Super friendly and has the sweetest dog Bella! The tent itself was gorgeous! Right on the creek with a swing and many bridges! The hot tub was amazing as well! Offers homemade shnapps! We had the peach and it was amazing! Highly recommend!! Has firestarters and firewood! The wine was by far one of the top wines I’ve ever tasted! Coffee provided and hot chocolate! All in all it’s the perfect place to go for a getaway!!

Very Disappointed - did not stay
We arrived at the property 30 minutes before the official check in time to find the property had not been cleaned or any bedding provided. While we were traveling, the owner sent a message to notify him when we arrived. I did not see the message until we left the property and notified the owner we were disappointed in the conditions of property and would not be staying. The pillows were covered in mildew and stained. The owner notified me that housekeeping had not completed the cleaning and since we arrived early and without notifying him - he had not brought fresh linens. The booking states no person-to-person contact for check-in or check-out, therefore, we did not feel it was necessary to stay in constant communication with the owner or notify the owner when we were coming on to his property. VRBO provided us with the address and we paid for our stay, so there was no reason to assume we needed permission from the owner to enter his property. I requested a refund from VRBO, and included pictures of the mildewed/stained pillows. There was also a dog running loose on the property that was constantly barking and jumped on me as we were getting out of our car, and got mud on my clothing. Owner - "Please let me know whne you get close so I can meet you at the site (phone number included)" My response after leaving to property - "We arrived about 2:30, and were greeted by a friendly but constantly barking dog that immediately jumped on me as soon as we got out of the car and got mud on my clothes. The linens that I expected to be provided, did not include any sort of blankets or pillow cases. The pillows are dirty and mildewed. We will not be staying the night, I’m sorry but this does not meet my expectation of Glamping at its finest. I don’t mean any disrespect at all, this is just not what we had in mind." Owners response - "Number one you checked in before the house keeper was finishing up with fresh linens, number two you ignored my emails, on letting me know about your arrival. Ive never had anyone pop in and not appreciate that I try to keep things fresh right before arrival. I do bend over backwards to accommodate my guests and host at the same time. No communication does not fit well in this scenario. I do hope you enjoy your stay somewhere else. The rain changes all aspects on how we have to set up the tent and keep the dogs away from the guests. They are here to watch the property and keep wild animals away"

While this is not a hotel, per say there are different methods for setting up a campsite and there are slightly different instructions to be able to enjoy a peaceful stay. By reading other reviews You can see there are not any problems with cleanliness and people appreciate fresh linens right before they check in. Our dogs are kept in the house while guests arrive, if they notify me, a common courtesy, to allow me time to introduce all guests to the property. Pillows are either bleached or replaced as needed. There are so many fantastic guests, and we as host's understand that some people run by a different set of rules than others. Overall, I am proud to bring a kind of luxury to camping in the woods

Awesome Glamping!
The host was amazing. Great communication. Super friendly personality. Very helpful. The campsite itself was amazing! An actual real bed. Lights that change color. A heater, a fan & a coffee maker. A table and chair. And a bottle of wine with two glasses. There was an outhouse but it wasn't gross. And a shower that was heated. The twinkly lights that he put all over the campsite really give it that magical feeling. As well as the grill, the fire pit, and the many quaint areas that you could sit on a bench and observe the creek. Or go on the hot tub. The campsite gets light up at night. If you enjoy falling asleep to the sound of the creek & you don't mind being in the hosts secluded backyard. I would highly recommend booking this!!

I like camping and my wife isn’t really into it so I figured this would be a great way to introduce her to camping but in style, the property it’s on is great and only a few mins from Helen and me Gary was great nice, friendly and helped us with anything we needed all in all 5 out of 5 stars will definitely be back

Absolutely beautiful!
Hartzen Platz is amazing. The area is lovely, the amenities were spotless and thoughtfully laid out and I enjoyed everything about my trip- especially the firepit. Gary made sure I had everything I needed and Bella (his pup) was around to make sure I didn't get lonesome. I would recommend without hesitation!

Fall Break trip
Our family very much enjoyed our stay! The setting by the creek is so peaceful and great to hear as you sleep. Our kids think we went "camping", but we didn't have to do any work to set anything up! Gary was very helpful in making sure we had everything we needed!

Most peaceful vacation ever!
Gary is a wonderful host. The campsite was perfect. The stream was literally a few steps away. Listening to the water while laying down was a little heaven on earth. We hiked Anna Ruby falls, a quick drive from the campsite. It was an easy and great hike. The waterfalls were amazing. If you are looking to unplug and get back to nature this is definitely a great place to consider
