  • Designed by John S. Norris for General Hugh Weedon Mercer, construction of the house began in 1860. Construction was interrupted by the American Civil War, and finally completed around 1868 by the new owner, John Wilder. Before Hansford's death, as retold in Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil, the house had already been the scene of two deaths. In 1913, a previous owner tripped over the second floor banister, fractured his hip, and suffered a concussion, dying three days later. In 1964, a boy chasing pigeons on the roof fell over the edge and impaled himself on the iron fence below.

This was a perfect spot for our visit. Just minutes to Forsyth Park and easy walk up to everything by the river. Being able to bring our pup with us just added to our stay. We really enjoyed the space. It was so easy and one hiccup with the WiFi that the host got taken care of so quickly. Definitely would stay again when we come to Savannah!

Perfect location for trip to Savannah

This was exactly as described and an easy location to get to all the things we wanted to do and see. Loved walking to Forsyth Park in the morning. Will stay again if in Savannah.

Cutest place right in the heart of downtown Savannah

I enjoyed my stay so much! Very cute property right near everything downtown. Super clean, nicely decorated with all needed amenities. Bed was SO comfy. Easy check-in and out and great communications from property manager! Will definitely stay here again.

Cute Cozy and Clean!

This is an adorable space perfect for a couple. The courtyard is perfect to enjoy a glass of wine. Check in was super smooth and the host is very friendly. Location is so convenient and close to everything Savannah has to offer. Bed is insanely comfortable. The shower is a little small but we didn’t mind. I will definitely stay here again. It’s a gem.

Short Little Stay

Holly's cute cottage was very convenient for just my cousin and I. Everywhere we wanted to visit was no more than a 5-minute drive away. Holly gave a very detailed note of how to enter once checked in. It was a nice place to stay just to sleep and get ready. I would 100% recommend this place for a single traveler and maybe one other adult person, it was nice that Holly also recommended other places to check out nearby.

We had an amazing time. Everything that we needed was on the premises and things were nice and clean and so well organized. The bed was high, but very comfortable and a stepstool was provided. We were able to walk to all of the restaurants that we wanted to try as well as down to River Street and all around the town.

Great Savannah stay

We enjoyed our stay in Savannah. Although the unit is small, as described, it is highly functional and nicely equipped. The proximity to Forsyth Park and many attractions made our Savannah visit easy and fun. There is ample on-street parking, as promised; a word of caution, the local birds are less than welcoming, so choose your spot more carefully than we did. After one night, our car looked as though it had been abandoned for a month. We will happily stay at Hollys place again on our next visit to Savannah.

Heart of Historic City

The location of this tiny house couldn’t have been more perfect. A couple of short blocks from Forsyth Park on a quiet street with ample street parking right across the street. Walkable to just about anything you’ll want to see and the more commercial areas. We decided to drive to dinner one night which was completely unnecessary, even in my heels it would’ve been an easy and pleasant walk. Holly was a responsive and attentive host.

We needed to break up our long day of driving, so we decided to stop in Savannah since we hadn’t been there in years. This property was great! The location great for walking to the parks and historic areas. It was very clean and comfortable. And it accepted our small dog! Highly recommend. We would come back again and stay longer.

Such a neat rental, small but layout is very spacious. I would love to know the history on this property. Location is very good for walking around to view amazing buildings and parks. River street is still within walking distance, right at a mile. Holly was great on the communication, we will definitely be back.

Enjoyed the charming carriage house, eclectic artsy decor and courtyard amenity. We love historic structures so this worked with updated functionality. Holly was a communicative host who made our stay engaging and informative. We liked parking ease on street with no fees. We dont need high end finishes in the bath and kitchen and prefer style with function so this place suited us. Very comfortable for our needs!
