Fantastic Victorian mansion, 2 blocks from beautiful Forsyth Park. Restored to original condition, this house is filled with unique woodwork, stained glasss windows and other features. Enter into large historic foyer which will bring you back to the late 1800`s. Parlor level includes living room, dining room, kitchen, butler`s pantry and powder room and Office/sitting room with convertable couch.. Beautiful kitchen is complete with new gas oven, microwave, two dishwashers, butler`s pantry and fireplace. The original grand staircase takes you to the living quarters where you will find four meticulously restored bedrooms, each with its own charm. Two bedrooms have king and two have queen beds Two bedrooms have private baths and two share a Jack and Jill style full bathroom. The attic level includes a bathroom with freestanding copper tub as well as a large bedroom with king bed. We have full fulton and a trundle bed with two fulls. Loft area in TV room has a Queen bed. Gas fireplaces thru-out the house. Double decks overlook beautifully designed yard with walkways and fountain. This home was designed by William Preston Gibbons, a renowned architect recognized for designing many of the most notable buildings in Savannah.
Perfect vacation rental that can accommodate families and gatherings. One minute walk to full grocery store. Yard has a few areas to sit and enjoy the outdoors. Table by the fountain, Patio with chairs in the rear.
Three off street parking spaces are available to guests. Streets are not metered so parking tends to be available as well on Gwinnett.

Free Dot Shuttle stop two blocks from the house at Gwinnett and Drayton. Runs thru out the Historic District.

We will typically provide arrival instructions and leave guests to enjoy the house. Always available by phone or email to answer any questions.

Less than 15 minute walk to the River, Free Dot Shuttle close by.

Basement level of house is not part of the rental space. Access to the house is thru the front door and side door on right side of the house.

We do provide queen air mattresses and a queen cot with foam mattress should guests prefer their own sleeping space.

  • Designed by John S. Norris for General Hugh Weedon Mercer, construction of the house began in 1860. Construction was interrupted by the American Civil War, and finally completed around 1868 by the new owner, John Wilder. Before Hansford's death, as retold in Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil, the house had already been the scene of two deaths. In 1913, a previous owner tripped over the second floor banister, fractured his hip, and suffered a concussion, dying three days later. In 1964, a boy chasing pigeons on the roof fell over the edge and impaled himself on the iron fence below.

The house is amazing! Plenty of room for our party of 10. The best part was sitting in the rocking chairs on the porch having coffee and visiting with each other. Walking distance from everything. Parking was easy. Michael is the most responsive property manager! So awesome and helpful!!
Family member took this on our last night. Just beautiful!

Beautiful historic mansion

Our family of 10 adults stayed here for a weekend wedding. The location was perfect! Plenty of room for everyone to have their own space. We loved all of the dramatic interior touches that you find in old houses.

We had a wonderful girl’s trip to Savannah. We enjoyed exploring the city. The house was amazing. We loved the charm of an older home along with the amenities of a “newer” home, e.g., A/C, washer/dryer, modern kitchen and appliances. The rooms, both communal and private were spacious. The porch off the kitchen was a favorite hang out spot.

Spectacular property

I booked this property for my sister’s 50th birthday celebration on St Patty’s day. The house was the perfect central point for the celebration. There was some confusion on the number of rooms but Michael worked with us and it all worked out perfectly. A well maintained house with all the historic charm.

Great for the entire family!

Our extended family of 12 had a great stay and enjoyed exploring a new part of Savannah to us. Forsyth Park was beautiful and within a quick walking distance. And having the grocery store next door was so convenient.

Beautiful home

We had a number of family members stay with us to celebrate our daughters wedding in Savannah. This was the perfect home. It was beautiful in a great location and we all had plenty of space. Would definitely stay here again.

A Wonderfully Unique Stay!

11 of us stayed at the house for my bachelorette party and we had a blast. The house is comfortable, yet interesting and unique. It’s close to everything! It’s got charm and functionality. I cannot recommend this place enough!

Great Stay for a Large Group

Our group of 12 had a great time staying in this Victorian Mansion. Plenty of room and bathrooms for everyone, and the house was well stocked with general amenities and paper products. Property manager was easy to get in touch with and very responsive to our minor problem we had during our stay. Location was great and an easy walk to most places in Savannah. Would stay here again with a large group.

Holiday Savannah trip

This was an amazing mansion! There were six of us that stayed, found a murder mystery game in their game room that had all the parts and we were able to have a murder mystery dinner while we were there, so much fun! Communication with the host was fantastic as we needed him for several things. Note, if you are driving an electric vehicle charging, it can be a challenge in that area!

Beautiful home in a great location

The pictures reflect the home. It is beautiful and well stocked for a large group. We had many laughs rocking on the porch. Michael was very responsive and assisted us with last minute requests. We are grateful for that. Only regret - I wish we hired the in home chef he recommended. That would have made for a nice at-home evening. Highly recommend this home.

Great group experience

We had seven ladies.(originally scheduled to be 9) stay at this magnificent old home. It has all the modern conveniences and we actually were able to sleep without doubling up in any room. I have never seen a rental so well stocked in the kitchen. If we forgot something, it was certainly there. We walked to shopping and appreciated the offstreet parking, etc.Easy fast communication and simple entry code.

Great house in a good spot

The house was quite nice. We did Thanksgiving there and the huge kitchen was a big help. There's enough room for everyone to have some personal space and the grocery store is right next door. It's a little bit of a hike to the waterfront, but you can do it if you're up for a longer walk.

Wonderful property

The house is absolutely beautiful. Location is great. Right next to a Kroger and a couple of blocks down from Forsyth Park. The stairs are a bit of a challenge, however we knew ahead of time the old house in the historic area would not have elevators. Michael was an outstanding host, always willing to have us call if we needed help.

This is a beautiful house with all the amnities. We didn’t do any cooking. But I noticed that there is plenty of pots and pans available. Kitchen is fully equipped. All bedrooms are also furnished and plenty of linens available. Great neighborhood and easy access to eateries, park and grocery store. I will definitely recommend this place.

Girls trip!

We had a wonderful time! The house was great, lots of space to spread out. There were 6 of us ladies from Vero Beach. Everyone had their own room. I loved the upstairs tv room to get away from all the commotion downstairs. The grocery store across the street was convenient. Location was good. There was a little road noise outside but that is our only complaint. House had everything we needed and was comfortable.
